These are forearm crutches! I'm looking to get a pair for a disability but they also make fantastic bases for quad stilts, what a clever idea. For anyone who doesn't have access to a saw, I'd recommend looking for children's size crutches, and then screw in adult-size hand grips (there are ergonomic ones to reduce the amount of strain in your wrists as well). These could also be made from scratch using pvc pipe, an arm rest of some sort and screws if you'd like to keep mobility aids for those in need or just to save money (mobility aids are TOO expensive), as long as you have a drill handy and a bit of creativity I think it'd be pretty fun to make your own. There's lots of tutorials for werewolf leg stilts here on youtube, you could probably use those mechanisms and materials for inspiration.
@@tailplaysmy local thrift store has a whole section of crutches, I actually was thinking of doing this before I saw this video, but didn't know how to execute it, and this really helped :)))
Thank you so much for posting this. I’m disabled and this will help me do quads because it’s less strain on the body (I’ve been dreaming of doing quads!) You inspired me, and I’m going to make my own now after I buy some crutches!
@@tailplaysNo problem! I had to order some online because no thrift stores had them. I might have to cut them down but I don’t know how to put them back together after they’re cut
@@tailplays It’s going really well! The base of the pole is too tiny so I’m going to wrap it in maybe foam and duct tape and it should work, thanks again! :D
does it cause any pain in your wrists or elbows? also this reminded me of Thomas Thwaites. he made something similar, but more complicated, to live with a herd of goats (and he won a Nobel prize for it)
