This song and MV are sort of an homage to a Japanese horror film enjoyed by Saiki, the primary lead singer. The movie is about a serial killer who films his victims at their moment of death with an 8mm film camera in an attempt to film their souls leaving their bodies. So for this MV, they actually used 2 Super 8, 8mm film cameras plus a couple action cameras with their framerates set over 100 frames per second as, Kanami the lead guitarist's fingers and Akane, the drummers feet were too fast for the 24 frames per second of the film cameras. They then used an overlay filter to hide the fact that 2 different sources were used to make the MV.
That's a myth! The lyrics go, "It's sink or swim! Shut up!", like "Stop wining and get on with it". There were some fans complaining about that B-M had not done any harder songs for a while, and someone said that the "Shut up!" and the end of a song was a perfect reply to them. That's how this myth started that it was B-M's who message to their critics. If you think about it, you realize that it's something that B-M would never say to any fans.

So it might well be as you say, part of the lyrics, but it also works as a comment to those who snipe at the band (and we know how good they are at writing lyrics with multiple meanings).
If it's not an added filter, it's poorly developed Super8 film or it went through a development process that added extra artifacts, Super8 isn't typically that bad looking.
They have other fast-paced songs I don't believe you watched yet. Some online mini concerts were done during the pandemic. They coupled two songs, "Manners" and "Black Hole" on one of these videos. They have some instrumentals done as MVs and live that are performed during concerts to give Saiki a break, such as "From Now On", "Onset, and "Giovanni." The pandemic also saw a Christmas special where they performed acoustic songs. "Sayonakidori" is one performed with just the drum and bass backing up Miku (the backup singer/rhythm guitarist/band founder) , a good opportunity to see her singing and guitar skills. A little different Band Maid was the two videos they did as Band Maiko (they transform into Geisha apprentices and perform alongside traditional Japanese instruments). "Secret Maiko Lips" is my choice of the two. I hope these suggestions address what you were requesting for the next video review.
If Band-Maid isn't ripping your face off (Rinne, No God, Black Hole), they're soothing your soul (Bestie, Daydreaming, Manners). Band-Maid is one of those bands that you can't judge on anything based on a handful of songs. You've gotta listen to at least 10 songs. This isn't my favourite song, but then they elevate it to my favourite level when they play it live. Don't worry, you don't even have a chance to get bored with Band-Maid. They pretty much do it all, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm an easily bored person myself.

Hi Wyllow. This is probably the only negative Band-Maid song as it is based on the 2005 Japanese horror film of the same name. There are murders and horrible ghosts. A film to watch before going to sleep. Lol. Rinne is a banger very popular with the Maidiacs. In contrast, Page is a very positive bluesy song. THANKS

They’re a rock band from Mexico made up of three sisters: Dany (24, guitar/vocals), Pau (22, drums/vocals), and Ale (19, bass/vocals). Fun fact-they collaborated with BAND-MAID on the song “Show Them” earlier this year. The collaboration happened during The Warning’s first trip to Japan, where they met up with BAND-MAID to write and record the track together. You can even see behind-the-scenes moments in The Warning’s vlog “Our first time in Japan with Band-Maid,” which has English subtitles if you don’t speak Spanish. For The Warning’s original music, I’d recommend starting with their live performance of “Disciple” at their 2023 10th anniversary concert in Mexico City. Band Maid, like The Warning, have been a magnet for haters and trolls that criticize them for everything under the sun. Because they’re both female bands they get accused of skating on being attractive or being industry plants. The truth is no matter what they do it will never be enough for those that believe women cannot be accomplished musicians or excellent writers in the Rock genre. As an old male musician, I say bring it, it’s time for something new. The only reason Rock got kicked to the curb by the pop-hip hop dribble in the first place was do to its failure to evolve, to grow and develop in different directions.

The 'shut up' was a comment to critics who said that Band-Maid had gone a bit soft.
I support telling the Maids they have gone soft till they a write a song so blistering hot the fire alarms go off every time they perform.

This was one of the songs that made me fall in love with the band. As an old Black Sabbath fan I loved the way Band Maid mix and match music genres.
