The seventh movie in the Tremors franchise, and as such the seventh entry starring Michael Gross! Gross returns as Burt Gummer, whisked out of retirement to face Graboids, yet again. Possibly the "tropical paradise" angle was yet another means to convince the actor to come back once more.

This movie just made me feel sad and dead inside. In the first Tremors movie Burt was happily married, had a nice house and a good amount of friends. By Tremors 3 he was divorced, but wildly successful with a pretty kickass home....Tremors Shrieker Island he's broke, alone, living on an island in the middle of nowhere, waiting to die. Just why?
Jesus....
I'll be honest, I personally saw this path in life for Burt since life hunting Graboids was never going to be a long term supportive one. Not to mention the years of PTSD caused by those hunts.
Simple writers hate people being happy so they make characters as miserable as they are
@@michaelkeha It’s more meant to establish a character arc. They start sad but get happier when the adventure is over. Or they find peace in a heroic death. Shows growth and change.
It’s why all the best Die Hard movies start with John and Holly on rocky terms
He is the ULTIMATE SURVIVOR
There was a new Tremors movie!? I feel I was denied critical need-to-know information!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We all were we all were... .. now they need to bring Michael back for another before it's too late
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Isn't that a@@hole a future firefly stepbrothers.
I CALL BS. If Burt Gummer had a private island, it would be the most well-defended, heavily booby-trapped island on the planet. Would've made Iwo Jima look like a picnic.
secretly they lied about the time he was there. it was really only a day but his sheer mainly preparedness had him adapt to the climate instantly... should have still been more traps and defenses even for a day though.... now the time in the movie.. i 1000% agree. it should have been insanely over the top yet cool and effective. him not having a gun felt just wrong though lol..
What tf are you goobers arguing about? The tremors weren’t on Burt’s island.
Seriously...Michael Gross could be 96 years old in a wheel chair and blowing up Graboids on the moon and I'll be like "This movie is awesome"
I would pay good money to see that
Rip Burt. You were the cool old guy hero we don't see in horror.
The series died with burt, it's almost as bad as Bruce Campbell not being in evil dead
@@Jason0binladen Movie magic and they got Peter Cushing back to play Grand Moff Tarkin over 20 years after he died .
Burt and his wife remind me of neighbours I once had, they used to own a pub and when it got demolished they had to call in the bomb squad because they found sweating explosives!, He used to work for a mine and decided to bring his work home.
If Burt's really dead, should be the way to send off the franchise short of Ward & Bacon returning.
A straight white Male who likes guns. Hollywood today would make him a fundamentally person instead of a hero.
I love how that the hunt leader claims that Burt has too much guns and ammo for anyone while he casually holds a freaking minigun with thousands of rounds the irony of that scene is just to funny
i think that was the joke but I’m not sure
Many guns with different size bullets to keep track of
The hunter guy had a mini gun that has one sized bullets
I don’t see the irony?
@@Cloud987600 he was calling Burt a nut job because of his amount of guns but at the same time he’s not only holding a m134 minigun but also had just as much or even more guns and ammo compared to Burt the only difference between him and Burt is the job occupation and the fact that Burt hunts these things to protect the world while he’s just going for a graboid head mount for his wall there is literally zero difference between the 2 in the firepower department yet he calls Burt the nut job not to mention Burt can easily keep track of his ammo his whole life revolves around prepping for world war 3 and avoiding anything us government related taxes including
Burt didn't die. He found the one Tremor with a time portal in its gut sending him back in time so that Burt Gummer can meet his ancestor Hiram Gummer in the sequel - Tremors 7: Burt And Hiram's Excellent Perfection.
huh don't you mean 8 this film was 7
Nice foreshadowing when you said "they're planning on using zombie Bert for the next movie" I really thought nothing of it 🤣🤣
Reba McIntire spends months sifting through all the parts and sews him back together to make self aware one liners to a dated rock sound track.
Michael Gross apparently doesn't age. That is the exact same man who played Alex P. Keaton's dad.
That’s a fact that truly fucks with my mind every time I remember it. I mean he was middle aged when the show ended 30 fucking years ago!
yeah, that happens with so many things. I'm always shocked how old a certain song I'm listening to is. Just today I was watching a video about The Matrix and it hit me that The Matrix is 22yo! It's madness.
him the queen and betty white all must be in some kind of secret pact with elder gods or something.
"Never trust a character played by Richard Brake!"
Wait....wait, no....he's got a point.
A movie no one asked for, but a movie review we all love to watch
So many monster movies think it's smart and subversive to have the real villains being humans, but at this point, that's what I expect going into a lot of movies.
"Assblasters in space"
You know, I think I would actually watch that.
At the very least it sounds like it could have similar stupid fun vibes to killer clowns from outer space.
The tag line could be Assblasters in space ( there's no where you can run ) . Because there's no gravity so you can't run .
@Zoomer Waffen it was Warwick Davis, I swear!
Can't wait to see the super intelligent graboid that wears a suit and talks.
@@devinpaul9026 i hope it has a giant pair of sunglasses to match burts xD.
then Earl would get his i told you so moment because he Said in tremors 1 i vote for them being from outer space and in tremors 2 he said Damn i always thought they were from Outer space
Fun fact. The cave where they filmed the cave scene in the movie that took place in Africa turned out to have actual hominid fossils in it. I think they're literally still pulling fossils out of that cave even now, and the cave paintings that were put on there from the movie are still supposedly on the walls.
Still makes you wonder what happened to Mix Master.
Or El fucking Blanco.
The Netflix sequels are trash on the grounds of how far they went to throw out ANYTHING we gave a shit about in the canon, only keeping Michael Gross because they couldn't have sold their movies without a series mainstay. And then they butchered his character, humiliated him, showed his bare septagenarian ass in the 2nd one to remind us how old he is... then they fucking killed him.
Fuck these movies. The franchise ended when the SiFi channel series did, period.
@@JJMDude Not just that, where is everyone else, it seems no one is around anymore either, they just "RETCONNED" all of it.
The ending had me shed a single tear for for the Mad Lad known ad Burt Gummer
RIP burt
His best line in my heart will forever be.
"Crital need to know information!"
funny enough Michael gross says he's willing to do another movie as Burt if asked however it will be so hard to say Burt survived that explosion but I might be the only one thinking that Burt's death is something that is perfect for him like Burt's death is just perfect for the character like Burt definitely deserves to go out like that
He said he would do a Tremors 8 but feels that they have closed the book on the tremors franchise in its current form. There seems to be more talks of doing a reboot than continuing the franchise from here.
The series died with burt, the reboot will be as bad as every other horror movie remade
They effectively killed off Burt.
The only way they can continue this is to somehow replace the character with someone of the same likeness.
*Good fuckin' luck*
@@Tienhamir100
Some people have said Travis would replace Burt, but since Jamie Kennedy declined to come back for Tremors 7 I doubt he would do 8 or higher.
@@BaranoffIsaac He was approached for the role of Travis for Tremors 7, only things I have seen about it say he turned it down, might have been cause the money was too low, might have been cause he didn't want to end up like Michael Gross and play Travis in lower and lower budget Tremors movies till he got to old to play the role... Who knows.
The Tremors Series has made me realize one thing...at Liberty Mutual you only pay for what you need because nationwide isn't on your graboid side
Decker: *Posts Tremors: Shrieker Island review*
Me: Took you long enough.
Right!!!??? Lol
i wish Reba would do another tremors movie with michael! that first tremors movie was awesome with those two!
2:37 Things have just been going down hill since Pedro left office.
Fun fact they actually cast Nick Swardson but Heder just showed up instead and nobody noticed until they were halfway done shooting!
Burt's probably still alive and just ran off since the island is unowned now and there's no further off the grid than being thought dead.
i mean yeah he could have very much faked his death
If it wasn't for the fact that you see him get eating and then blown up I would agree. It's been a fun ride RIP Burt.
@@dustinjenney9736 he's been eaten before and if Sheev Palpatine can survive exploding twice in a row Burt can survive once.
ye they didnt do much justice for burt, still believe the man survived. how dafuq did his hat and those sunglasses survive and be placed nicely like that. Tho I must admit the flip off was actually funny.
Edit: forgot to say did anyone notice all the jurassic park "inspired" scenes?
I found your channel years ago thanks to the Tremors 1 review. Now we're back full circle. Hard to believe it's been 5 years since that review and 3 since I've been watching.
I'm a simple man. Decker uploads and I immediately click on the video

Actually, the mention of the Manhattan one gives me an idea. Concrete and rock are things that Graboids are known to be unable to dig through, so if there was a new movie in a city environment where Graboids can do just that, it would be very interesting plot for a Tremors movie.
I want to clarify, my issue with the green screen isn't the quality of the effect, it's that the backgrounds are distracting and take focus away from you.
@@KaneA87 glad to see others don't like this new approach. Looks horrible
Absolutely nothing about it works for me.
I've been sad to see beloved characters die in franchises before, and while I realize after awhile many actors and actresses no longer want to do the roles so they gotta end it somehow, come on you don't kill the Gummer! Dear God they could've done anything, made a new character anything. Why kill one of the most memorable characters of the franchise?
Probably completely coincidental but I like how Decker says "ridiculously huge" just as Jackie Cruz's chest fills the screen
the graboids on land might be a threat, but have they looked for them... IN THE OCEAN!
Props to Michael Gross for being in nearly every movie in this franchise. I stopped after...4? The one where its in the old west and explains the origins of the Graboids.
Nearly? He was in every movie lol
YEEEESSSS FINALLY THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN FULFILLED
You must fulfill the prophecy
Man and it did not disappoint.
I'll be honest Bert's death had no impact on me because they kept teasing it in the other ones. When it happened I was like okay old man come from behind the rock. But he never came and I laughed my ass off.
It's been a long time since I saw it but I THINK that was the intent, to play it for laughs and play with all the times the other movies did this kind of thing.
The actor already said there's a good chance another movie is in the works, so doubtful he's actually dead for good.
@@LibraGamesUnlimited I understand that I got a kick out of his face when he flicked the graboid off.
@@Cwhirt910 only time will tell. Who knows he might of been behind the rock and my third eye revealed it to me.
@@fallenwolf3368 Yeah.
There are eight movies if you count the pilot episode of the second canceled TV series. That makes the pilot is the sequel that takes place a decade later. The next movie should tell us what happened in between.
Michael Gross actually ate the grub his character is shown eating.
Michael Gross grew out his beard his character has during filming.
Michael Gross is the only actor to have starred in all seven Tremors movies, as well as the television, series. He played Burt Gummer in six of the movies and the series. In the fourth movie, he played Hiram Gummer, an ancestor of Burt's.
The only tremors movie where none of it takes place in Nevada.
decker been watching your videos for 5-6 years now lol ur my fav movie reviewer. youve gotten really slick with the editing and your "persona". ive watched almost every review you have even if i havent seen the movie. whenever im feeling bored or depressed in this covid time i can always fall back on ur channel to keep me entertained or brighten my day :)
I think it's awesome that Michael Gross is closing out his career playing Burt Gummer he took a funny character and turned him into a hero character with lore and everything, it's awesome.
If nothing else. This movie was a good send off to a loved character. Few get something like that if they get an ending at all.
I lived in gyeongju Korea for a few years and silla dynasty members have giant burial mounds all throughout the city and mountain trails will also take you by numerous smaller versions. Because of watching the original tremors movie, I was sooo scared and freaked out by these mounds omg
This film does make me appreciate part 6 a bit more. They should have just ended it on that one, with Burt passing the torch on to his son
They did film a 2nd ending where Burt survived and the one they wanted to use but the higher ups wanted to used the one we got.
So they can return that ending and bring Burt back if they really wanted to do another movie set after Shrieker Island, because a tremors movie just wouldn't be right without Burt Gummer.
...This was not the movie review to watch while eating breakfast! Dudes spitting and drooling right in front of my toast!
Graboids in Thailand. Wonder if they ever want partying in Bangkok?
Congratulations on the subscribers bump, have been following since 2015, love your content and honest critic.
Also love the additional notes at the end(could be spoken but still find it unique)
I was never this early. I don't know what to say. Hi decker👋
I called it graboid prime. Because I was replaying metroid prime 2 at the time
When did we lose the theme song? Anyone else ever been driving down the road and catch yourself busting out "He is Decker Shadoooooo! He is Decker Shadoooooo!!!!"
The innnnnternet personality with the best hair!
jimmy - im faster
burt - im wiser
jimmy - im younger
burt -_-
me - dead
The didn't need to make super graboids, just taking on the suckers without guns is different enough from the other movies to make it a memorable plot.
I think it was in part because they wanted to keep using most of the design for the graboids from the 5th and 6th movie, problem being the african/arctic variety don't have the shrieker stage they jump straight from graboid to assblaster so genetically modified graboid potentially og design graboid (maybe the graboids in Asia are the same as those in America) would make sense for bringing back the shriekers while also giving a reason for their changes
I'm fully aware that this was supposed to be a cheesy fun popcorn muncher of a movie ... but damn, Burt's death hit hard!
Ikr 😢😢😢😢😢
Like if i'm being honest as a huge tremors fan, i'm shocked and disappointed they haven't done a tremors in space.
Omfg the second I heard “I can’t believe you done this” I immediately thought of that meme 🤣
Ass blasters in space kind of makes sense. If it was found out that the graboids were a space faring species and that the assblasters were capable of space flight, or surviving in the vacuum of space like a water bear I wouldn't be surprised. Would be neat to see graboids on mars.
why wasnt Michael Gross more popular, he was hilarious on family ties and awesome in the tremors series, he was an actor who really should have been a huge star
Was just heading to sleep, what a great surprise, thank you decker Shadow
The end is sad but it's a good send off for a true American Staple titan level hero
Pretty sure that might be an insult considering how the Government is entwined with being "American"
@@michaeliv284 if you watch the shows and movies burt loves the freedom of America but not it's government so I think he stands as a American hero.
@@erikdeusenberry5307 now comes the question who's more of an American hero Burt or cap ?
@@saorse5918 easy one is a comic book hero and Burt is from the tremors series and films and it clearly states in that it's earth real earth but with grabiods
@@erikdeusenberry5307 I was trying for some humour without limitations seems that failed with ya than.
You've forgotten the main cinema rule "If there is no body/pieces, he may still come back in the next movie".
They will probably bring Burt back for another movie saying how he faked his death
While I was hoping for Bert to pop up at the end and reclaim his hat before riding into the sunset back to his little island I can understand why Michael Gross's Bert character was killed off in the end. Face it he ain't getting any younger. That being said I really don't think I will be watching the next instalment of a Tremors movie, if there is one, unless they bring back Val or Earl.
There's no talks of a Tremors 8 but there has been the idea of a reboot floating round Michael Gross said he would retrn if Kevin Bacon , Fred Ward and possibly Reba McIntire returned too
So basically Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom with Grabboids and Shriekers.
I love the location and it could have worked well with existing lore. It’s already established in lore that grabboids come in different breeds that are unique to their location. With this being an island and limited food source they could say these grabboids evolved to either use the coast and their tentacles to grab fish who swim close to the coastline.
They could also once there find a great white dead on the shore and realizing that because of its size it couldn’t have been attacked and killed close to the coastline. At that moment back on their boat it starts to be violently shaken by something in the water below. Back on the coast they realize this was attacked in open water, they then get a distress call from the boat. These grabboids can also swim. So they are no longer safe on land or sea.
Hell with that location they could also go into a little lore. Find ruins that suggest this island was at one point inhabited by a tribe and they worshipped/gave sacrifices to their gods (the grabboids).
I thought the explosion propelled the graboid off the cliff in the first movie.
Nope. Graboids lack sense of sight. Due to this they are highly sensitive to sound and vibration. A pipe bomb exploding behind one while submerged actually causes them physical pain. Thus the graboid is forced by muscle memory, fear and pain response to put as much distance between the source of the explosion and itself as possible. They essentially blindly run in a singular direction until the pain stops or they are stopped by force.
Awesome, what a treat for my 40th birthday 🎂 another Tremors review, also I never knew of this tremors movie. Love your content Decker, keep up your amazing work. CHEERS 🍻 Looking forward to the SUMMER OF........... can't wait to find out what it will be this year round.
Now I just need to see you review the tv series 😍
I like that Tremors is just the movies series that just does its thing without thinking its audience is stupid.
It's just good fun movies.
Burt retiring to a tiny Island? Sure.
Burt without even one firearm? No way.
Oh hell yeah I've been waiting on this!
By the way Decker, not sure if you noticed but the audio for the film footage is way louder than the commentary footage you did so I need to keep adjusting the volume slider every transition.
There are so many things I don't like about this movie BUT I do like certain parts like seeing Anna hit that badass shot with her arrow... and one of the shriekers getting chainsawed, etc.
There is no way Burt is dead. No body, no death.
Your couch seems to have received quite the upgrade. We approve.
And now we just need to wait for the tv series
"THEY'RE UNDER THE GROUND! THEY'RE.. UNDER.. THE GREEN SCREEN GROUND!"
John Heder is actually my friend's cousin. Never knew he was in this...gem 🤣
gross is such a believable badass i dont feel like his intro was staged.
to prepare for this movie they just stuck him on an island for a month or two and that was the end result.
jimmy's reaction is genuine and unscripted he just had a film crew following him.
little know fact.. he only lived because burt noticed them filming.
So is that the end of Burt? No more Tremors with him?
RIP
Decker out here lookin officially like a critic
napoleon dynamite: the college years.
My wife made me watch this movie. She bought it on dvd. She likes the Tremors series for some reason.
I thought you did the whole tremor series or is this a new movie ?!?
The newest installment but they didn't have rights to the original monsters that's why they look so different.
Came out last year one of the 30th anniversary deals.
Ok this is quite the absurdly scary coincidence, I had just watched all your Tremors reviews yesterday, and suddenly this pops up one day later
Anyone else notice the end of this was just like the end of Rambo last blood? Kind of on the nose with all the Rambo jokes
So...Burt went full Rambo?
Bert No!!!!! Rest in peace you brave bastard.
Now we just wait until next year when the next tremors movie comes out. (Edit) @5:20, on a second viewing, the Zombie Burt Gummer line makes a whole lot more sense
Yes
Can't see even a small green shine on your hair. I wonder how tedious that might have been. Lookin good man.
Partially disappointed you didn't talk about the shriekers design it isn't that radically different from their original design and have a cool skeleton texture on the outside along with new powers since the movie is called well shrieker island cuz their pretty cool overall
Burt Gummer was like the PG13 version of Hunter S Thompson rest in peace the PG13 B movie badass who played a great father role model on TV back in the 80's not perfect but who is
Huh, something punched its way out of the first Graboid they find... Soo, now I'm kinda surprised there is no Tremors/Alien crossover.
9:49 NOOOOOOOOOOO, Not the Austin Dillon/Sheamus cross breed guy, he was my favorite😭😭😭😭😭😭, oh well, I didn't expect him to live anyway
Let's be honest, I would watch all three including the one in space!!
What if the African variants are the original variants? Like, the African variant was in Antarctica, possibly frozen over for hundreds of years. What if the African variant was migrating to different continents? What if that’s how the American variant came to be? And does Japan, Asia, Europe, China and other countries have their own variants? We need Tremors 8! And more! We could do so much with the lore!
Does that actor own part of the series? He hasn’t broken character in 40 years !
the had a location manager and assistant location manager they might have done the scouting. mathut "book" siripokakul as location manager with tunyod "yod" kulviroj and poonmanat "pom" saeng-in as his assistant location managers
I actually really liked Tremors 5, but I assumed the franchise dead at 6. Sadly, I've been proven wrong.
A nice change of "scenery" with Premiere Pro, Decker. Nice
He got fit chased last night Hahaha!
They already made Assblasters in Space, it was called Starship Troopers
I could see them do a prequel from before the firsts movie. takes place in 1899 so the mane character don’t have as much fire power to fight back making it more interesting.
Like a cowboy vs graboid move?
Could be interesting, maybe starring burts ancestor, and maybe at one point he uses a cannon?
Two words for a sequel with Michael Gross - Burt's brother. I seem to remember Burt mentioned he had a brother.
Michael Gross played Burt's ancestor in one of the Tremors films.Tremors 4 the Legend Begins.
