Wow. What's most amazing to me is how you seemed to get the texture of the skin too, crinkly yet also smooth and fluid. The eyes have a depth to them, the eyebrows have detail in each line rather than a single mass.... This is amazing!!!

This is truly amazing. The depth, detail, as well as realism placed into this illustration is remarkable. I am no artist, so forgive me if I have used the words in the incorrect terms, though I can't find the words to explain how great of a Illustrator you are. This is one of the most realistic drawings I have personally witnessed, and currently, I can't think of someone beating this.

byxl It depended on the complex of the picture. Yet he always does it with much confidence. Me, for e.x. - I can't shade that well (like really can't), I always erase everything.

Shading can be hard at first, just keep working at it and you'll get it. Remember to vary how hard you press your pencil, and how you hold it. Using different harnesses of pencils (softer the pencil the darker you can go) is recommended.
I wouldn't call it effortless, i mean it did take him 7 hours to draw

jose panameno pro that might piss you off but its very easy for some one who already saw how to do it tbh after i saw the way he used it won't even take me an hour and i am 14 adding that its not easy to keep looking on the mirror and do it but its easy by ways to draw it while its a full screen and the same position am i right? and also i wanna tell you mada mada dane kid ;)

Mark, I just got your book, "The Realism Challenge," I am in school for fine arts and just spent quite a bit on every oil paint color I can think of. Is it possible to use oil paint thinned out with lots of medium to do the exercises in your book? (It's a fabulous book!) thanks!
No need to thin the paint; oil paint is excellent for hyper-realism, though of course it requires incredible precision and patience. :)

Mark Crilley is like, one of the best drawers in the world. I try this and I literally like, LOL, what is this drawing.
I learned this shading technique at school, in germany it is called "Schummern" . It helped me so much to let my drawings look more realistic, never bluring and wiping my drawing with my fingers again , you all should try it out eventhough it takes a lot of patience :)
