  • The Pentland suit is a drop liner (or Z-liner) jacket and trousers from Held. The chassis of the jacket is a 500 denier Cordura. It is AA rated under EN17092 so is as protective as a textile suit comes but is comfortable enough to feel very easy to wear. The jacket has soft, D3O like armour in the shoulders and elbows with a pocket that will take a D3O back protector.
To aid fit and comfort you have stretch panels down the insides of the arms and in the armpits together with concertina stretch panels above the elbows. Undoubtedly this is a very comfortable jacket to wear. It also fits different shapes well because of the stretch and also the volume adjusters on the biceps and forearms and an elasticated adjustable belt arrangement at the waist.
This is an adventure styled jacket with two large lower pockets which incorporate side-entry, hand-warmer pockets. There is a large map pocket on the back of the jacket. On the chest there are large zip down vents which will work very effectively to get air in to the jacket.
The jacket comes without a thermal lining but for us, we think that just enables people to choose their favourite warmth layer and stick with it.
The Pentland has a lot of great detailing on it. Subtle high-viz banding; zips and velcro flaps at the sleeve ends; additional Armacor-style material on the elbows and shoulders; a lowered back; double storm flap, Neoprene collar; tab to hold collar back in the summer and so on.
Size range is from small to 6XL so should be able to accommodate most people and we are really impressed to get all this at the price point.
Connecting zip to allow you to connect to trousers.

I like the review but it would be good to see the inside of the jackets too.

Awesome video! If the jacket is as quality as their gloves, I may have to try one. Their gloves are amazing. Best!

I'm a fan of held. They seem to be more innovative than most with design and practicality.

3:12 "It's Level 1 armour" - On the Held webpage I read that it is Level 2 armour in the shoulders and the ellbows. ?

I would also like to see the inside
I dont get the big vents on the front as the drop linner will stop the air from passing through to the body. There is no storm collar

I imagine that, in the same way you feel the coldness of rainwater through the goretex, albeit you remain dry, the air entering and passing around your limbs/torso does similar.

I wish more brands would get rid of the awful "thermal liner" they are useless. I always wear a thermal top and or down gillet which work so much better. The saving could then be used reduce the overall price or add something else to the jacket like zips to the cuffs. ( i know this has the zips, but some don't like the Rukka Comfo-R)

It looks like the textile suit to beat at this price point (AA rated, a highly adjustable fit, huge vents, Held’s reputation for quality).
Albeit, how well do the vents work with a drop liner?

I didn’t know you had rodeos in U.K. Ohh, you mean polo matches.
