i think they know it will sell eventually. eventually, probably not too far off in the future, there will be another run on ammo and people will pay an arm and aleg for anything that goes bang. find deals now and get it as you can.
Having a wide selection of ammo is nice! Being priced well that’s priceless. I remember when there was competition which kept prices reasonable. Most i paid for the 420 box of 5.56 193/ss109 was 75$ and they came with a charging spoon and 30 rounds in sleeve with stripper clips.
It was, back in the day when Walmart actually carried pistol rounds. Once their competition was gone the local academy sold the same thing for $179. Their decision with other companies that treated firearms owners with disdain is the reason prices went up and supply went down.
We had a Sportsmans Warehouse where I live, but they went out of business. Prices were too high. I bought whatever I could because I didn't want them to go out, but they did anyway...
Seeing the pile of federal premium got me excited. I’ve seen once box of 30-30 in the past 3 years and I HAD to buy it. I don’t even have a 30-30 I gave it to my dad
The Academy I go to for ammo here in central Texas still only has the popular calibers..9mm, .45, and even .38 but no .357. And 30-30 is hard to find but 30-06 is plentiful. But like your video all is priced quite a bit more per round.
Nice to see all that ammo, even if it is more than I want to pay...gotta remember a couple years ago, people lined up at stores hoping for the truck to bring something...so, availability first, then worry about the pricing...our local big box is advertising 10 cent mini-mags, sale starts tomorrow, I'll probably grab a couple boxes...the big deal for us right now is 9mm fmj at 12.99 a box, that is a half decent price (we buy nothing online), at a local gunshop...but yeah, like seeing lots of ammo...
That’s a decent price for 9mm. Always a threat from the current administration to keep the ammo prices up high. Hopefully it doesn’t last for ever, but just like a lot of things, this could be “the new normal”
As someone who has to drive an hour one direction or the other to go to sportsman's or bass pro, I find that bass pro is better for ammo, sportsman's is better for firearms. Getting their emails is a good heads up and ordering the stuff for pickup at the store is nice, so you have what you want locked up and waiting for you.
I was at the Cabela's store in Hamberg last weekend. The had tons of asst. powders and heads. The had 8 bricks of small rifle primers for $153.00 each.
Yoooo i knew it was this place from the thumbnail thats crazy i got a local channel suggested! I went in for the first time monday and could not believe the options they have! No more having to travel from Naples to Estero for a bass pro like shop! They are pricey on some ammo but others they have at the same price as other places.
Our local Fleet Farm in SE WI has a sale going on with Blazer Brass 9mm for $12/50 rnds. Also CCI minimag 22lr for $8/100 rnds. Best prices we’ve seen here in a long time. I’m stacking it deep.
I have Sportmans Warehouse in my area. Their ammo prices have been high since 2020. Before that they were more competitive. You can find deals on other things. But not ammo. Free in store pick up is nice for online shopping. Promo emails are good too. 👍🇺🇸
Federal’s parent company Vista Outdoors who owns a lot of companies that cater to the big box stores and let the LGS die on the vine. For example, Alliant powder is only available to certain mega vendors like Brownells, Scheels, Academy, etc. Here in Houston Academy has a lot of Federal and CCI primers at $100/1000 plus 8.25% sales tax. Academy has a monopoly on primers because they buy a LOT. Of Vista Outdoors products. 8:04 My LGS cannot get any Alliant Powder nor any primers from his wholesaler. Luckily we can get Hodgdon powders but Federal primers are scarce and expensive. Thank you vista for making the shooting sports too expensive for the average working person.
Glad I reload pistol and shotgun. Got out of 30cal rifles before covid hit because of powder cost and crazy high prices for bullets. I can cast 12 ga buckshot and slugs, cast and plated/coated pistol bullets still pretty good prices. Just primers are stupid high. You didn't say how much they wanted for 45Colt though.
Yep, use the online ammo search engines, find vendors that ship free, its out there... I live 2 blocks walking distance from a Sportsman's, 5 min from a Scheels and 30 min for a Cabela's. Sportsman's will price match (not ammo) and their inventory meets my needs, great store...
as much as i like to buy locally, i have resorted to buying ammo online, even paying for shipping, the cost is much better overall due to the lower prices. for example i just got 200 5.56 for $.50/rnd. add $8.99 shipping and its still cheaper than buying in store. .300 blk is literally twice as much locally as it is online.
Did they have reloading supplies? When I lived in Colorado, I got most of my gun powder, bullets, and primers for the Colorado Springs Sportsmans Warehouse.
I just won't pay that. I ordered online in early 2020 from Palmetto and got cases of 9mm and .223 ball and still have a bunch. Been casting bullets and shooting my revolvers with reloads ( stocked up on primers too ). I have not bought factory pistol ammo beside 9mm ball for years. I got 1,000 primed Lake City .308 cases and a bunch of 30-30 brass as well and shoot cast bullets out of these too. Powder and primers are back in stock and though expensive, still much cheaper to reload.
I only go to academy for primers and to shoot the crap with the guys at the gun counter. Have a local shop selling ammo from a local ammo company and the company has a retail shop. 20.75 for 9mm 115gr Hornady hollowpoints. They are getting most of my business on ammo
@@andrewmconrad check around. These companies are popping up all over. Also, on their website they sell it at the same prices. Practice 357 sig 124gr flat nose is 23.50 a box. I but it up just for the brass.

Bummer there is no 9x18mm Makarov There used to be piles of it around old stock for cheap in dusty old boxes a couple of years ago but as the shortage wore on it got all bought up and there isn't more coming any time soon. Maybe if the Ukie war ever gets over the stockpiles on both sides will eventually get surplussed out but that may take a decade or more to show up in the US.
@@andrewmconrad 65-284 started out as a wildcat cartridge with the 284 Winchester case being neck down to 6.5 (.264) caliber. It became popular for f-class shooting and other long-range Target Pursuits. That being said $114 for 20 rounds is still crazy!
Sportsman's is nothing like what it used to be. You've got a lot of stock there because it's a new store. I live near the headquarters and it's nothing like that in the stores around here. The prices are roughly the same for what they have.
Sucks for the little guy, sometimes they are paying what the big boys are selling it for. I have seen invoices, they don’t make a hell of a lot. If I am ordering primers or powder, I will get it local at my small shop. When you add the hazmat and shipping fees, I would rather patronize the mom and pop. It will suck when they’re gone.

What is crazy is people will actually pay those prices. I won’t buy any 223/556 unless if it’s under $0.40 a round. I have price points I won’t go over.
Sportsman’s prices are way out of control. During the pandemic aside from some sales when discontinuing certain loads of ammo they where the most expensive..
Dayton Ohio gun dhow 556/223 around 50 cents a round great 9mm ball ammo if u bought case guns high though but a lot of stuff and at least ammo was reasonable
It's Sportsman's not Sportsman. It's not owned by Bass Pro / Cabelas and never will be because it would create a monopoly so the FTC blocked it. The good news about the high ammo inventory is it tells us demand at these prices is low which means ammo prices will have to come down eventually according to the law of supply and demand. It's not a matter of if but when prices will drop assuming we don't have another event that triggers a run on ammo.
Yes, when I did the quick search and saw that I didn’t scroll further to see that the deal was aborted. I will probably mix up the two because we have a Sportsman’s Warehouse and a Sportsman Wholesale down here 😂
Ouch. You'd think they would at least try to be competitive with online sellers. Even paying for S&H, there's better deals out there, and that's not even buying full cases.

You're mistaken. The reason prices haven't dropped yet is the manufacturers are still working 24/7 to fill backorders from the pandemic so from their end they haven't seen a drop in sales. What you're seeing now on the shelf is ammo that was ordered 1-2 years ago and is just now hitting shelves. After they work through the backorder and have to deal with much lower orders, prices will drop. It's just a fact of economics and the law of supply & demand.

This is what’s happening. I know a dozen online retailers way way cheaper. Do your homework. Some have free shipping. Big box stores all about huge profits. With diesel prices so high a large part of that ammo price is the shipping cost. The retailer don’t want to make less so they pass that on to us. Easy answer pass…. Take that Winchester 7.62x39. Clearly says target ammo. Crazy they even put that out. Expect dust on that one. Things have changed. Online way to go now.
I definitely plan on making more kayak videos. My goals on the channel is not to be some one dimensional. I’d love to have a few topics that I regularly post about. The ONLY problem with fishing is it’s long day for 1, maybe 2, videos, whereas I can go to the range for 2 hours and get 3 or 4 videos done.
At those prices, the shelves should remain well stocked.
Yup! I didn’t buy anything that day despite to plethora of options
You got that right!!!
And a good thing too. These big corporate stores are a cancer on the small mom & pop shops that are the lifeblood of healthy communities.

Even if I should ever find myself in Sportsmans Warehouse, doubtful I would be buying ammo. Maybe they are going to have a BOGO sale. LOL!
BOGO sale … Now you’re talking!
While you don't go spend 250+ million building and stocking and not try to break even asap .. But yeah they should not try to overnight lol
Can I take out a mortgage on a box of ammo?
If that's what it takes 😂
But did they have large rifle primers LOL?
I didn’t see any primers 😢
Nice video Andrew
Thanks Rich
31.99 for .270 130gr., I just got a nose bleed.
Them prices are outrageous. I can get Remington 9 m m FMJ, 100 round box with tax for 29.95. And get this I can get 5.7 x28mm Federal with tax for $35 a box of 50 with tax and everything I seen there I can get a lot cheaper at the gun shops I deal with
I wish I had a local shop like that down here 😢
I’m waiting for now
Can’t afford theses prices
Out of curiosity, what are you willing to spend?
I reload since 11 years old and for years and years I’ve reload Ammo for hobby and I was making a killing then
There’s really nothing I need but a few more good years at 72
I don't shop there anymore the employees are downright idiots and the prices ain't better than anywhere esle
I didn’t really talk to anyone at length to know the difference
LET IT SIT
Oh it did … I’ll be interested to go back in a few days and see what’s moved
Sportsmens Warehouse... guaranteed the most expensive ammo on earth... 😆🤔😭
Almost as high as my local shop 😂
They went belly up once
whit prices like that they will go belly up again
This is every sportsman warehouse they tax on ammo go to dunham sports
Man! They like there shit, i don't think they want to sell anything at those prices.
I need to go back and see if people are buying from there 🤔
Good video of ammo
Thanks for watching
Store is packed! Sucks that Bass Pro owns all the big players, no competition no good
Won’t get any cheaper anytime soon unfortunately with the government contracting to seen millions of rounds to Ukraine
I'm headed back this week to see what's moved and what hasn't. Interested to see what's what
Your glasses look like my goggles
I bought them because of you 😘
Damn there high
More kayak fishing videos
I definitely plan on making more kayak videos. My goals on the channel is not to be some one dimensional. I’d love to have a few topics that I regularly post about. The ONLY problem with fishing is it’s long day for 1, maybe 2, videos, whereas I can go to the range for 2 hours and get 3 or 4 videos done.
I hope nobody buys any of that at those prices. Yikes.
I haven't seen ammo shortage like the pandemic since I can remember so I don't care what they have I'm not paying those
Academy is way better with price
