This Padre fan who moved to East Tennessee 4 1/2 yrs ago after being born and raised in San Diego and rooting for the PADRES in the old PCL venue at Westgate Park has seen a lot of great players both hitters and pitchers throughout the years. From the days of Tony Perez, Lee May, Cesar Tovar through the the long illustrious career of Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn, seeing Mays, Banks, Robinson, Aaron and the great Clemente who like Tony left a hole in my heart with their passing way too early to now their have been many in San Diego Padre history who have brought us the fans inside the clubhouse with their astute coverage. From Coupee and Shuess to Coleman and Uncle Teddy to Tony Gwynn and son Anthony I am thankful that you Marty are here to bring us your unique perspective on this disruption in the hierarchy of MLB. Even though I'm living 2,600 miles away from Pet Co Park I feel a part of the Padre family due to Marty's hard work, tell it like it is style while always staying classy, informed, objective and down to earth. Marty is one of the the, "Ties that bind us together!" as Padre fans, San Diego natives, SD residents or transplants as we watch the greatest assembly of PADRES to ever take the field at the same time beat the hated, despised, overrated and overconfident Boys in Blue and win a World Series or two or three or four or five and cheer our hearts out for "OUR BELOVED PADRES while Dodger fans cry, whine, make up excuses for losing to Manny, El Nino, X-Man, Soto, Cruz, Darvish, Joe M, Cronezone, Hader, Kim and Company as Marty's unique laugh and vibrant personality paints the Padre Championship portrait that says it all. The first words I taught my Son many years ago are NOW coming to pass, "DODGERS SUCK!
"PADRES RULE!" Along with my Aztecs and Chargers. THANK YOU MARTY, THIS SEASON IS GONNA BE A BLAST! SLAM DIEGO PADRES FORWARD!

Soto is the man! I love that he's not one to fall for all the hype, buzz, and/or drama. He's a great team player, a leader, and only in competition with himself. He simply just strives to learn and grow each and every day. Similar to Darvish, Kim, Grish, and Cronenworth. Grateful to have him on our squad and in our city, and I'm excited to see him cook this season! 🔥 Let's get it Soto! 😎 #MuchLove #MuchRespect #OnlyUpFromHere

This Pulitzer-caliber interview really aged well. It proved to be his first and last Padres spring, he obviously never adjusted to San Diego and hated playing with Tatis. Can't wait until the follow-up interview in 2024 to see how Juan is enjoying the Empire State Building and those tasty hot dogs in Time Square.

    • @AVResonater

Hopefully injuries are at a minimum this season and he’ll really get immersed in a very productive (WS bound) Padres’ season amongst his fellow teammates to get to really appreciate what SD has to offer in its overall culture.
Manny came to love the city and what Papa Pete (Manny stated how he came to love that Seidler was of his word on what he promised) was brewing over the last couple seasons…if Soto wants a chance at possibly being part of a dynasty along with getting well compensated…he, too, may grow to truly embrace SD’s culture. He’s still relatively new as of right now…but after this season, he should and will know.
