    Hi, has anyone successfully programmed keyboard buttons to work on the Cougar Radar Range Dial(or any warthog dial) using Target? I have two keyboard buttons (+/- keys) that I'd like to use the range dial to cause enough presses to occur across the lowest to highest range of the radar dial. That is, the plus key when pressed causes volume on my in game radio to go up as it is pressed or held until it reach max volume. Likewise, pressing the minus key brings the volume back down to zero. I'd like to get the range dial programmed to do the key presses as I turn the range up or down. However, I want the presses spread accross the full range of the dial. The Target manual says that it is possible, but I can't get it to do more than a few key presses as I turn the dial up or down.

    Greate tutorial! I‘ve learn the knowledge your video demonstrating from the manual,the video form is greater than manual! But I still have a problem in customizing the Axis function of "DCS World". The Axis in T.A.R.G.E.T can only bind X,Y...but Axis in "DCS World" could be a lot of binding,like HUD brightness,position light brightness.Therefore I can not bind T.A.R.G.E.T's Axis to "DCS World" specific function.

    Nice tutorial! After seeing how you’d setup your profile and my previous experience fiddling around in Target GUI I managed to customise and greatly expand upon it to my own personal preferences but didn’t know about the issue with using Hold on a non-primary level event and thought the delay was for use in conjunction with the hold function (not simply an activation delay) so I’m glad you pointed out these simple but important details.

I’ll let you know if I get round to updating it, not overly important though, from memory I changed the in game docking mode and camera mappings and also added profile events for weapons and shield power on and off to the front most two switches on the base so I can do a full manual “ramp start” (LOL in comparison to say an F16 ramp start in BMS) or individually control them as needed. TARGET turns your joystick into a keyboard emulator. Any button you program will no longer work as a x-binding in a game where you set joysticks bindings. Those buttons will work in the keyboard inputs. I know you can change which axis is assigned to each axis input, but I would assign the axis in game in case windows randomly changes inout numbers.

    • @CaliJoshua
      @CaliJoshua  2 года назад +1

      I know you can make an axis a button and assign bands to get some modulation, but I don’t think you can make a keypress and axis. I believe the game has to accept axis inputs. If the game allows a game pad, then you can emulate that to an axis via a program I have used in the past. The movement ratio isn’t always ideal and I had to adjust curves, but it worked.

I'm mostly Ka-50 III, the HInd, and slow, low jets - I like to see the whites of their eyes 😀 My question is, does the TARGET profile overwrite the DCS control settings or does it run alongside as additional functions. You know how it is with the Warthog HOTAS, there are loads of wasted keys! I am interested in setting up the flap switch, for example, so it uses all three positions. I am also interested in using long and short controls (like the A-10C) - that is something I could definitely use. Anyway, thanks again for your reply.

    • @CaliJoshua
      @CaliJoshua  9 месяцев назад

      @nialball9023 So the DCS profile would only be in the keyboard settings because TARGET emulates keyboard inputs. So it will not use the X bindings on the Joystick settings or in this case the Virtual Game Controller TARGET makes when you run a profile. We work heavily with helicopters, but all NATO. We do have a red air squadron though.

    So, I have a T16000M and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I'm trying to set up some things for Star Citizen.
    I wanted to do something like the left button on the top of the T16000M would be "shift" on my keyboard, and the top left button on the top of the Logitech would also be "shift".
    Then, in-game, set keyboard bindings for various things such as say I wanted bind the middle button on the T16000M to be Cruise Control. Cool, ok, set the binding in TARGET to be whatever the keyboard bind is for Cruise Control, let's just call it "F". Then, say I wanted the same button to also be activate Interaction mode, which by default in Star Citizen is holding the F key. So I could, for example, re-bind Interaction Mode to be "Shift-F" in-game, bind the button on my Logitech to be "shift" and the button on the T16000M to be "F"
    Then if I just press the T16000M button it will be cruise control, but Shift-F would be Interaction mode. Does this make sense? Would it work? Since I have two different joysticks, the "shifted" (not to be confused with they keyboard key "shift") are not inter-operable. The Logitech software has the ability to "shift" the buttons to another layer, but that's not really want I want to do. I want to have one button being held down on one joystick affect the control of the other joystick.

      Be careful when you assign the U/M/D layers that you do not "Toggle" them because they are toggled by design anyway, where the I/O is not. Toggled the button will stay "IN" when you push and let go of it, Untoggled it will not stay Latched press for I, let go for O.. Remember O and M are your default mode and it's where you should put the bulk of the most common commands you need. I play IL2 Great Battles and DCS and I use the I/O toggled and U/M/D untoggled. I recently started using the DX modification where you get 128 DX commands vice the standard 32. Mainly with TARGET GUI, you can not program "TEMPO" keystrokes, or at least I have not found a way yet. Tempo is Long/Short keystrokes on the same button. You have to run this script from the TARGET Script editor, not the GUI. Cali, if you find a way to do TEMPO commands on the GUI let me know.

    thx for your tutorial.
    But how can I properly map the ministick to the mouse? I know how to make it that the ministick gives mouse inputs to left, right, up and down, but it doesn't behave like a mouse(stick). There is no acceleration the further I move the stick to the bounderies. Can some one help me, please?

      I have not tried this, but if the ministick does not have an option to change the axis to a mouse input, then I am not sure there is a way in this software, but maybe in the script editor? ts.thrustmaster.com/download/accessories/pc/hotas/software/TARGET/TARGET_Script_Editor_Basics_v1.5_ENG.pdf

      @@CaliJoshua Would be awesome. I can't be the only one who wants this. Changing camera angle with the ministick would be so much better, than switching over to the mouse control. Just as one example for DCS.

      Ah, problem was between my ears. You can directly map the axis in the first window via drop-down menu to the mouse axis 😁

      If so does it work in Windows USB Game Controllers before and after?

      @@CaliJoshua yes that's the one, yeah I can see it there in controllers but once I start the software the joystick vanishes

      It should combine them into a Thrustmaster Virtual Controller under USB Game Controllers and now windows sees it as one input.

      Does it work in game?
