    Actually, why is it like that? It seems more energy is wasted on emotion than work.

      This is mostly satire, but these things do happen. Supervisors are often over worked / have a lot of their plate most of the year. So they can sometimes be quite absent.
      And sometimes referees can be hostile, to be honest I'm not entirely sure why. Sometimes it's warranted, not every paper is publishable. But sometimes it seems completely unwarranted. Usually though there is a lot of value in the referee reports and your article is improved from these interactions.
