She's a heavy smoker. Those 289's are really easy to work on and rebuild. My 1st car was 66 mustang 289, I drove it everywhere.

1:02 in, I think you have a cracked distributer cap, that thing was tossing out some sparks
The oil return in the heads are clogged up.......take valve cover off and take a closehanger and rod them out had many Ford's do that in my time
I recommend doing a compression test, and find out which cylinder is causing the blow by. After that pour some trans fluid in there from the top of the spark plug hole. Crank it by hand , fill it a little more, let it sit over night, and soak. That should free up the piston rings. If that doesn't work try seafoam. I would also add zync or stp smoke stop it comes with zddp.🫶

Oil smoke could be a major, or minor problem. Has numerous undercarriage leaks. Steering wrack boot torn! With some work, this could be a nice runner! Price is right!!
Burning oil, needs new rings. 14,900, a great price, put in 10-15, great car.

289's are infamous for valve seals bad causing that smoke, easy cheap fix

Change the oil and maybe the pcv valve. The hard start could be vapor lock. Gas burns different than in the 60's. Old tricks. Put wooden clothes pins between pump and carb gas line. Have em on my 1970 grande. Great honest video as always. Ty

Just remember if you put in in synthetic oil , it will stop that the burn of oil of the 2nd oil change. For synthetic in my trucks for over 300K plus engines do not burn oil, after brake in. So you do the math and telling me of what I do wrong for my cars and trucks ?
