One of the best videos I've seen of the Snow Monkeys and the park in the Nagano area. Thank you so much for sharing! Wondering if you've posted any details of your trip, and any quick tip information you can offer any novice traveller to that park. Again, wonderful video!

Also, the monkeys are picking through the snow for barley grain which the park folks toss out for them. They are still wild and have free roam of the mountains and sometimes may not even be at the onsen when you get there. When we went in June 2009 they didn't show up till 30 minutes after we got there.

Snow monkeys are by far the cutest but IMO I will say they are by far one of the brattiest monkeys when their young. Don't get me wrong they all are when they are young but of course it's known that monkeys are naturally one of the most selfish animals too begin with. Snow monkey mums are very doting compared to other type of monkeys where they allow them to nurse at their leisure up to or even past two years old. Weaning them has got to literally drive the mums insane. This little fella screeching throughout the video clearly was having a nonstop loud fit all because he wanted mom to dote on him and carry him underneath her so he could suckle when HE wanted it which is always! I'm so glad I am not a monkey and at that a monkey mum! These youngins literally take a toll on these poor mums and stretch their teats out like rubberbands. Thats life I suppose lol..

I’ve got to say I’ve never read such rubbish. For a start, macaque teats are meant to stretch, that’s what they do to help the babies from whatever position they’re in, whether stationary or carried. Brattish? Are you serious, all macaque babies are like this, it’s the way they communicate. Do some research before posting inane comments 🤦‍♀️

I can't believe those little guy's survive in those conditions. Thick fur helps keep there body warm. But bare feet and hands has to be brutally cold at times

Too many people involved , where it’s honestly sad that they can’t just live in peace without humans being so intrusive ... while it’s nice to be able
To see things like this ( just the actual macaques , not all the people running around and talking and laughing throughout the entire video ) I Wish people would do more to keep their distance . It feels like they’d always have to be on edge and constantly need to be very cautiously aware of their surroundings and can’t just relax with so many people running around them. It’s bad enough that they have such harsh winters and have to save as much energy as they can with limited food source , but for people always being in their space , even when they’re having more relaxed behavior , they still don’t seem as if they’re comfortably Able to feel calm or relax more , as I think they’d be able
To do without so many people tryin to film and get near them.

Humans believe they have the rights to whatever roams the earth, they believe its theirs. We also know humans will keep being intrusive til the end of time. Its better these monkeys get used to it. It is sad to see though

3:44 she is hoping for food. She is using her baby as a pawn. Lol. She was also trying to communicate with you. Think back to that moment, do you remember what you were thinking about? God uses his amazing creatures to communicate with us even when we don't realize it!!!
