Those plastic cladding panels hava a product name: it's called "Trespa". It's a hardcore type plastic. You wouldn't believe it but they are actually expensive compared to wood panelling. They are very popular in germany. Did you know that they also make tables and industrail worktops of them? I don't mind trespa, it's quite easy maintaince and they last long. They can however fade colour, older panels couldn't quite handle UV rays and they get a washed out look.
Went to a block of flats in Tottenham the other week with Harri - one of the flats on the ground floor had a mouldy net curtain which was 'partually stuck to the window' with flys in the window - omg, I've spent the next week trying to take out of my mind what it would be like inside....YUCK! BTW, the lifts were modernised so hence no video upload!
I went to School there. Bell wood then Senacre. Also worked at the wood yard at the bottom of Brishing lane. None of tower blocks had lifts, I remember when they had white painted pebble dash exteriors with open stairwells, we used to go round the back and climb over the railings. The Y blocks were spooky, peeling painted metal panels, often the lights didn't work and when they did they gave off very little light (I think they were the same lights they had in the old phone boxes). You couldn't look out of the stairwells as they had GRP like panels with a metal mesh in them that let through very little light. Sometimes you would find that someone had turned the firehose on, water would be coming down the stairs like a waterfall. People would set light to the bins/waste chute. The balcony was unusable because of the pigeons. The floor was often wet, smelled of bleach, took forever to dry out due to the lack of ventilation. They did have cable TV though, a box on the wall that looked like a light switch, no remote, turn the dial to change channel.
small new houses sometimes have show houses with shrunken furniture and applicances in them, to make the house look bigger. I worked with a woman who noticed it!
No say it, it is crap, I have lived here 15 years...the plastic houses were worse before (see the odd ones in between, they are privately owned but some of them have the original white) The shops and in fact some of the flats around the 1:58 mark and the big block at 2:37 (this was actually my block and my flat is just behind the lamp post also fyi was built in the 60's) either no longer exist or are scheduled to come down soon as they are regenerating the area. The next set of flats with the lifts...they are NOT original. They were old Y blocks and had a new skin of bricks over the top and the lifts added (about 1994-5) The windows were newly added later even as the original colour is shown on the flat at the top to the left of the lift shaft.

Yeah I used to live in this dump (Bombay House, Bell Road) back in the early 90s. Not surprised to see it hasn't changed a bit. I now live in lovely Devon, which is much better (if poorer). The only good thing bout the place was that Blur released their Park Life song while I lived there and we all used to play it on the pub jukebox, singing Park Wood Life instead. Other than that, I was just really glad to get away from there! Horrible place!!!

Nope not original lifts added later in the 90s so no lifts ruined the block before...was mine even show my flat on the first floor
