- In the UK, gang-culture, knife-culture and gun-culture is destroying too many young lives.
It is time to take action against those who encourage and threaten violence.
It is time to put pressure on the government to provide sustainable education for the vulnerable youths being seduced into gangs.
It is time to stand against gang leaders and give support to those under pressure.
It is time to stop knife crime.
it is time to stop gun crime.
It is time to stop all gang activities, including prostitution, drug-dealing and theft.
It is time to do something.
Heard this in one of my classes in class now it is in my favrouts .. has a good message to put across (Y) x
It's called 'Is there anything we can do?'. The singer is me, Natalie Wong. I recorded this a while back - I feel very strongly about gang crime and I wanted to write something about it. Hope you like the song!
Thanks! I wrote the melody and lyrics. It's also me (Natalie) singing on the track. The backing track was produced by someone else.
I feel very strongly about gang-culture and the marginalization of youth (white and black) in society. There are loads of issues: lack of parental responsibility; lack of government initiative to provide activities for young people etc... but I think the main root of the problem are economic ones.
do you have a link to a mp3 for that song? :)
Yes, I agree. Many cities think that adding more police officers on the street will solve the problems of gangs which does, but only the for the short term. We need a long term solution to solving gang issues such as what you were saying, it's all about empowerment the young and teenagers and building their self-esteem, and hope that there are other options than gangs.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your comment! I recorded it last year... I bought the beats from a non-professional producer and wrote the lyrics.
very powerful message. the world would be such a better place if people learn to control their anger and use that energy to focus on positive things in life to help themselves succeed. it would help them enrich their life and soul.
btw, great song and lyrics, what is the name of the artist and title of the song? the song was very fitting to the video.
oh wow! Teachers are showing this in class? That's Great! Thanks for your message. x
yeah, my teacher showed me this and i loved it ! good song =]
Although the term 'gang' can simply mean a large group of people who share a common identity and common agendas...it tends to be used negatively these days to mean individuals who come together to commit criminal acts as a unit and inflict suffering on more vulnerable people.
Very true!
is the song by lilly allen?
we can change our world if we really wanted to but we gotta do it together
you sound exactly like lily allen :L very catchy song and good meaning :D
@lalatitiana , it's my vocals on the track. A lot of people say i sound like Lilly though.
Whats this song called whos the singer?
Thanks! A non-pro producer in the UK. Great beats right?
Omg I remember this, our form teacher in year 8 showed us this in September 2008, then our Citizenship teacher showed us it, I remember the lyrics and that badadadababba bit. Oh and the guy sitting next to me said "ew that accent, is it Lily Allen?" HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA I can't believe I actually am watching this video again.
There is some similarity to Lilly Allen but you can tell its not her, nice vocals but the lyrics are too repetetive as for gang life, the majority would shit their pants if they brought back capital punishment be even better if it was televised, (that wouldnt happen) but you watch that if that did happen, every chav, wanna be gang would be pretrified and shocked that the death sentance had returned to the UK and would think not twice but 50 times about it before commiting the crime
I don't tolerate racism in any shape or form. Your comments are totally unacceptable.
One reason why statistically, more black youths are involved is because of attitudes of rejection and hatred (which are voiced by people such as yourself). They attack because they don't feel that society cares, they kill because they feel they have to reciprocate the harshness they experience and there is no progress until we start taking responsibility for own attitudes about others and about how to help
