    Looks like the flex plate is bent. Your right about putting the bolt all the way through the block. When I worked at the machine shop we always welded the block and drilled the block for the bolt. Nothing wrong with how you fixed it. You saved a block that others would throw away.

      The flex plate will be fine, the torque converter will true it up and stiffen it.

    what modification you did with the turbo? turbo on 6.5 it's located by the fender. and 6.2 is located at the rear side of the engine

    I'm having the same problem with a bent bracket and broken block ear.

      If you straighten the bracket, you can weld a nut on the engine side of it to prevent it from bending again.
      The nut should be large enough to fill all the gap, so it will just push against the engine.

      @@VeggiePower303 awesome, I will try that. Maybe the starter won't move now. I've already replaced the starter twice and the flex plate once. Currently I have the 6.5 high torque gear reduction starter like the one you have on the video. Thank you

    u had it at the machine shop why didn't you get the starter bolt fixed?

      I fixed it better and cheaper than the machine shop can.

      This bracket is not available on the shelf.
      You have to have a machine shop make one for you.
      I can sell you the manufacturing drawings for $20.

    Been following your vids since 2012 when I did a veggie conversion on a mercedes om617 single tank and then a cummins converted f250 2 tank system. What's the longest you have had one of these conversions and what if any issues have you ran into. Getting ready to put a 6.2 into my 09 Wrangler and then do a two tank conversion.

      Which cummins did you run veg oil on? 12 valve or 24?

      The only things that can go wrong is a harmonic balancer which can slip then break the crank and main web cracks

    I have a 6.2 turbo and a 6.5 turbo. Can i use the parts of the 6.5 and put it on my 6.2?

      They say that the intake manifold of the 6.5 turbo won't work on the 6.2 turbo?

    What glow plugs do you use in your builds? any recommendations? Like the bracket might have to build one for my truck maybe stop the yearly starter bolt massacre. 🖒

      The best glow-plug for the 6.5 is the Bosch 80043.
      Heat Diesel says it last 50x longer than the AC Delo.
      Yes the bracket definitely helps a lot.
      No problems so fare.

      And I thought it was only "my" 6.2 that ate starter bolts. Love the bracket, if it actually " fixed" the problem. Give it a few years and repost.

      It's been a couple of years now.
      never had a problem .
      The Starter block is a total fix.

      @@danielkingery2894 No, I don't. You can just take some measurements with your tape-measure and clalper! That is what I did.

    Do the cylinder head gasket, crankshaft, bearings cont rods are the same for 6.2 and 6.5 engines pleas?

      Everything is the same, but you have to keep the 6.2 block with the 6.2 crank.
      Different Rear main seal in the 6.5.
      And if you want turbo you have to have 6.5 heads.
      The injector angles are slightly different.

    Hey nice build! Do you have any suggestions on what manifolds i could use to put twin turb on my 6.2 diesel? It's in a cucv.

      You don't need twin turbo you going to break the engine.
      The 6.2 can produce 300 horsepower with one Turbo.
      But you need to get the 300 horsepower pump.
      Anything more than 300 horsepower you going to break the engine these are not that tough

    I got a 6.2 diesel gm sierra but I only have three speed transmission in it and it sounds too rof for the motor do you think it's possible to put a bigger transmission and it like 5-speed now do you convert this into 6.5 I want to do what you did but if only if I can change my transmission

      You've probably figured this out, but there were some 6.2 motors that were backed by a SM465 4 speed. NV 4500s can also be made to work.

      Up to 450 HP with Turbo.
      But life time and reliability will be impaired.
      These engines are NOT built for the heavy towing for hours on end.
      Maybe some offroading will work.
      None Turbo 200 Hp

      Is that a Banks Turbo? Id like to build one for light use. I have an 83. Chevrolet 6.2, rather than going with Duramax\Allison and having to rebuild an entire truck, Id like to simply beef it up without blowing it up. Be interested in access to the exact parts that went into it. Donor versus ordering heads and pistons. Sounds awesome.

      @@hr2513 ​ H R You can bolt on every accessories from a 6.5L Side Turbo engine.
      Including the serpentine belt setup with a newer alternator and AC pump.
      Leave the heads 6.2, you will get higher compression and more power, more fuel efficiency.
      The injection pump can be Hacked up to ~275 Hp with a Turbo.
      I can do that for you for $300.
      You ship the pump to me and I will do it.
      Than I ship it back to you.
      I had this exact setup in a 15,000 lbs truck and it was really fast.

      VeggiePower303 good morning, I have a stock 6.2, I need to get everything ready and I will take you up on the hack... I need to pull the engine but also locate the parts I will need and send it to a shop here in TX... then put it all together... any possibility you will talk me through it? I’m your video I understood you only used the block and all other parts were 6.5... does that mean I need a donor motor? I am not a mechanic, I have a mechanic but he is old school so I am going to have to talk him through it... i am sure you get a ton of requests. Here is my email hector@mastodonmastiffs.com

      Do I bore it up and put 6.5 pistons 2 mm difference or keep the 6.2 pistons? When I get there I will send you the Injection pump.

    So did you resize the cylinders to fit the 6.5 pistons or did you cut the pistons down to fit the 6.2 block? Sounds like you resized the cylinders?

      Yes of curse, the cylinders were over sized to fit the 6.5 pistons.

      When you was rebuilding the engine you should have had the rotating assembly balanced, I say this because the bounce of the engine on the motor stand. Did you use a main bearing girdle with studs on the 3 main caps in the middle?

      82-83 red block. Wish i couldve 6.2 swapped my k5 before i sold it but she was getting heavy on gas

      Diesel don't need an intake butterfly.
      Its controlled by fuel injection amount.

      @@We-Do-NOT-Consent-303 do you know much about diesals I bought me a shirt bus and it's been so perfect since my dad out a Hummer motor in it and the other day I drove it home parked it got up to take it to school and show it off it wouldn't start 😭 so I put a new dual filter on it and can some times get it to start but won't stay running and my dad don't know anything much about diesels I just don't know what happened to my truck do you have any ideas kids at school now giving me a bunch of yada yada I don't have a bus when I worked hard on it I just can't get it out the drive way now

    Stronger blocks its what the world land speed record holder used to build his 6.5.
