LEIA 리아 I am trying to learn dances that don’t have mirrored choreography. Do you have any tips for learning dances when watching mirrored choreo isn’t an option? Thanks, this video was very informative.
Dear Leia
Could you please make a dance tutorial for nct kick it
I've been trying to find a tutorial for the song ( there are tutorials buts it's in Korean and I can't speak Korean )
And I find following your tutorials easy . >.<

Lmao! Sameeee! But w my mom 😂
Oh gosh my sister do the same!
I don’t know if this will help anyone, but i used to have NO CLUE of how to dance, so i kinda want to explain how i personally improved my dance:
1. I started off with easy dances! What i mean with this one is, that you have to be patient. I understand if you want to be able to dance bts, seventeen, loona etc dances, but i promise you, with a bit patience you will achieve this goal! But start with easy ones so you can get used to new movements and to have space to improve!
2. When you’re copying the dance from the dance practice, take your time! Watch the movements carefully and see if there are specific connections between these moves, especially when the choreography is lyric based, there are mostly some smooth moves which arent that obvious!
3. Emotions! A huge part of dancing are the emotions, you can practice this one very well when you look into the mirror, play the song you want to dance to and just let your emotions be. It also helps a lot when you know the lyrics and the meaning so read them as well if possible.
4. Understand the moves! There’s a huge difference of just copying what you see or really understand which body parts you have to use or what connections are made in the choreography!
Idk if someone will read this but if you do: i hope this helps you a bit and you can improve! I’m sure you will be able to achieve your goals and to improve a lotttt💗
Wavyoongii This is actually very helpful. I’ve tried this before and improved my dance!
Idk why but for me the easy dances are from bts,seventeen,ateez,exo,skz... but songs like famcy i just cant to so good i mean i still do learn it but slower, and i dont enjoy them much...anyone else
Do you have any easy dance moves to reccommend?
expensive joon girlgroup : ioi - very very very , twice - what is love/cheer up, momoland - boom boom, red velvet - red flavor/happiness/russian roulette/bad boy, iu - bbi bbi , itzy - dalla dalla, blackpink - ddu du ddu du, f(x) - electric shock
Boy groups : bts - go go, zico - any song, super junior - sorry sorry, bigbang - bang bang bang, winner - everyday, stray kids - get cool, pentagone - humph!/shine, ikon - love scenario, shinee - ring ding dong
thank youuu it will help me a lot♥️♥️

Here's my method to learn when is by my own:
-When I decide to learn a choreo, I've already watched so many performances and dance practice of the song.
-I like to learn dances when I really like the song or the choreography itself, it helps me to keep learning and not give up and have more fun as well.
-i see the translation of the song to help me with the facial expressions
- and from there its just practice and more practice until I decide that it's okay
:))
(Sorry of any spelling mistakes)
P.S.: I also accept constructive criticism
oh cool! we have very similar learning techniques lool

SAMEE
BISH YES
Sameee😭
jamiewynn YES I know what to do but I can’t make my body do it
I'd memorize the moves but i dance so awkwardly lmao
how i learn:
1. watch the dance video about 5-10 times.
2. learn the upper body (arms, head etc.) moves at 0.25x speed.
once i have it down, i practice at 0.5x speed, then 0.75x and then normal speed.
3. learn the lower body moves at 0.25x speed while doing the upper body moves.
that way i can learn how the upper and lower body moves work together but i only need to focus on the lower body.
then i gradually speed up the video the same way as learned the upper body moves.
4. when i have memorized the moves, i put my device in front of the mirror and start cleaning the dance, comparing myself to the idols.
this way i can develop muscle memory to do the moves at the right time.
5. clean the moves without my device, so that i can focus on myself.
and finally ur done sis
edit: THANK YOU SM FOR ALL THE REPLIES🥺🥺 the amount of ppl saying that this is helpful really made my day💖🧿

i recommend alivia d’andrea’s 5 minute stretch, it is a bit hard when you first start doing it until your body gets used to being stretched this way and that way
here's what i did to learn kpop dances:
-i downloaded a app which has a speed controller that you can make the video slower or faster and you can also zoom them so you can see such hand gestures or whatsoever
-i make their dance slower so i can learn it easily and when i already memorized one part, i will make it back to it's normal speed and i repeat this every part.
-i also learn them in mirrored version
*sorry for my bad english TT*
What is the app you downloaded?
@@peachytaeyong8022 Mx Player
@@peachytaeyong8022 you can also just change the speed on RUclips... 😂
Shayla and Hoshi yeah but i find the jump from .5x to .75x to big of a gap so being able to go up gradually is also nice :)
@@emmytsao5676 ah makes sense 😂
steps:
1- find mirrored dance video for the chosen song
2- watch the mirrored dance video at least 10 times the night before you start learning (choose the idol you want to follow)
3-find a space in your house for the dance practice (recommended to use a big screen for leaning)
4-STRETCH
5- break the dance into sections (e.g verse by verse etc. also choose speeds for practice, comfort etc. focus on getting moves to a good standard and then perfect later)
LEARNING PROCESS:
watch section you're about to learn 3 times before hand (in practice speed)
then get up and start practising (leia does 1-3 moves each time)
then do next moves
then practice the learnt moves without music first
TIPS FOR MOVES YOU STRUGGLE WITH:
learn arms and legs separately
MORE TIPS:
- to learn movements better, connect them with either lyrics or the music etc.
- use the first day to learn all the movements
then the 2nd day, use it to perfect the movements, techniques, flow and small details.
- make sure you know when to loosen your hips and when to keep them stiff and how much power to add and when.
How i learned BTS choreography:
1- watch the music video and feel it (like 5 times or more....)
2- watch the dance practice(cut it into small sections.
·i first learn the steps and take like 2 days perfecting it (that part)
·watch the original group dancing to the song to see how they do it (facial expressions, stiffness, smoothness in movements)
·practice whenever u have time (in the shower, changing, etc.)
Thank you so much !💜
is it better if we learn from dance cover or the dance practice? and if we learn dance practice we focus on one person or what?
I remember trying to do that part in dna in the shower and knocking over all the body wash/shampoo bottles off and having a literal concussion..

My dance tips:
1: try to learn many kpop dances and practice it over and over. I practiced 3 kpop dances and keep on practicing and I improved a lot.
2: don't skip the details because details are really important if you don't want to look awkward while dancing, details helps to improve.
3: watch it over and over, sit down and play the video in 0.75x and watch the whole dance it will help you to get the chero more easily.
Tips:
1: keep a bottle of water next to you.
2: don't give up easily.
3: Try challenging yourself with different kpop dances.
4: back camera is much better then front so if you want to record yourself then always record it in back one.
5. Practice a lot.
I hate being at home with these people. I want to learn dances, but I can't. It's stressful, but hopefully it'll all be over soon 🙃 Thanks for the tips! 💙
Edit: I usually have difficulties dancing to the music after I've just learned the dance. But the next day, after sleeping and resting and memorising the moves, it's much easier.
me too! this is why it is so important just to sleep on it when you can't do something or get frustrated because sleep helps our brain to memorise better :)) ✨

LEIA 리아 Definitely. Honestly I'm so frustrated I can't learn the Wannabe dance for a long time, although I know most of the moves already from just watching the dance practices and your tutorials. I hate this lockdown time so much

I can dance but when I do it in front of people I can’t. ;-;
Breathe
I dance in front of people, even though I look like a flapping chicken 😁🥴✌️
Don’t be shy you have to show your talents am pretty sure you’re talented so don’t neglect it by keeping it yourself only 💗💕
Yes that happens with me as well, I can do the moves when I'm alone but when I show them to my sister I just blank out and forget half of it and then freak out which ends up with her calming me down. So I'm thinking that I won't show anyone anything until I've done the same dance like 10 times

wow thank you! that's so nice of you to say that 🥺💗
ive been home quarantined for almost 3 months rn and i did not really leave my house and all i did was watch kpop idols perform in my phone and just be amazed on their talents
I’m learning Cat and Dog by TXT and I can’t even pronounce Hueningkai’s name-
(I actually know how now)
I have everything I need to learn but it's so hard to motivate myself to actually do it when I'm so lazy
why don’t u try watching videos like “ people reacting to jimin / lisa / jhope : any idol dancing”? because those really motivate me to start dancing! also try to stretch a bit before dancing :) good luck!
Same but I think about like I have learned so many dances and I want to be a dancer so even if I’m lazy I can’t wait like two months then dance again I learn a dance once or twice a month
also a tip i like to use when theres a move and its hard to get it perfect bcs a lot is happening at once: try to learn every detail starting from head to toe! you just need to repeat a part you want to learn from a practice video and focus on each part of the body (focus on the head first, then moving on to the shoulders and so on, you can slow it down too) this might take a lot of time and you do need a lot of patience but this has helped me a lot, esp when im trynna show others how to do each moves! sorry if it doesnt make any sense lol but hope this helps! :)
Step 1: have free time
Step 2: have potential in dancing
Step 3: realize you’re a potato
Step 4: eat, sleep, watch TikTok..
LOO FELT
step 3: realized you're a potato .lol..

all you really need is free time and a goal tbh
Omg.... lol

*but honestly i was just here for ryujin’s shoulder dance lmao*
So im not the only one who cant do it right 😂😂😂
**extra tips**
1. When you record yourself, use a mask if you're awkward. It really really helps
2. A super important thing to learn that I at least overlook is the duration of each move
3. If you struggle to learn the moves, watch another member do them. I struggled to learn ddu x4 because Lisa was hard to follow for me, she's such a pro dancer. Also you can watch covers
THIS IS THE MOST HELPFUL VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN THANK YOU!! Not just for Kpop but any self taught dancing at all seriously! It's like I needed someone to walk me through to teach me how to LEARN how to dance not just how to dance. Thank you so much.
2:06 I used to do this step with La Vie En Rose of IZ*ONE because I was so hooked into it for years. Can confirm this works, and especially if you like the song and is eager to learn the dance, it's pretty effective. Just takes perseverance and effort.
My tips
1. I watch the video and dance practices and covers a few times
2. I read translation of lyrics for expressions
3.fancams
4.slowed practices
5.practice
6.take a video
7.create a side by side video of a fancam and me
8.find some to criticise, so i fimd criticism easier
the night before tip is life-changing because even though i knew the science behind it, I haven't done it much!
Basically 2 things are at play:
1. Mirror neurons - our brains are incredible because you can learn a lot just by watching. Lots of studies have shown that watching someone else do something (and paying conscious attention to it) can help form connections in our brains before we even attempt it ourselves
2. Scientifically speaking, we are pretty sure that sleep is really important for long term memory (as mentioned in the vid), to by sleeping on it, you are cementing those connections your brain is making from watching
bye, gonna watch Apple mirrored 25 times then go to bed lol
thank you for posting this! this will help me a lot while learning dances! plus, i would love to see your stretching routine- i forget to stretch before i dance sometimes. thank you!
My method is
-First learn the movements with my arms so when I decide to stand up it will be easer to focus on leg work
-once I already follow the dance with my arms without missing I will follow the mirrored version
-I will learn the chorro in slow emotion without clean
-I will dance in normal peace and later I clean my moves (I don’t know if I clean since I’m not sure how good I dance)
There are songs that I learn without slow motion and just stop the video to learn for example everglow Dun Dun Dun and there are songs that I have to use slow motion for example Izone’s fiesta.
I really struggle with learning choreographies by myself, so tysm!😍I will try this tips

I have literally watched hundreds of other videos on dance tips and you are the first person to show a side-by-side comparison and really explain what you mean. Like when people say “dance with power!” or “focus on your body position!” I never understand what that means but thanks to you it makes so much sense now! Thank you SO much!

i’ve been dancing for like eight months and with this video i realized i have improved a FREAKING LOT. 🥺
How do I learn K-POP dances:
-I watch the video several times.
I prefer if you want to learn a dance try to familiarize with it.Like watch live performances or search for the dance practice of the song..So you have that idea and try to pay attention to every move. Also make sure that it's not the moving ver..if you're the type of person like me that watches live performances first and that when i see a new song i already think of learning the dance steps. There we're available live performances with a steady shoot.I also recommend to watch the solo dance parts of a member in a group you like to copy the dance with.It will really help if you're already decided or not.
Tip:
It's better if you follow the center because sometimes the center commonly does ad-libs.And it's better for beginners or for those types that wants to learn a dance faster. But it's still up to you.
-See the translation of the song.
It will literally help you not only for the expression but also the meaning so you could add more power or feelings or energy while dancing.
After the second one the next thing that i do is classified into 2 it's up to you on what technique here will you do.
1.I dance along with it.
For me after watching it several times.I try to follow the steps via dance practices or a steady ver of a live performance.Even though i Don't know the exact step.It may sound frustrating but it will be a good help.Try dancing along. Then your body will be used to it then you can learn it bit by bit.I mostly use this method in terms of learning a choreography of a Kpop Dance.
Or
2.General Practice.
What i do here is i search for the dance tutorials. Then by that i learn it.or i change the speed of the song in a dance practice or steady ver of a kpop dance or solo dance of a member.
Lastly.
Be determined.
Don't give up learning just fight!!
Be passionate.And keep going
By that you will really learn a certain thing not only dance.
Hope this is helpful for you. disclaimer this is just based by me on how i learn a certain dance.Again i hope this us helpful for you!!Thank you for reading!!Lovelots..💙💙Saranghae!!💙

@@amoebakun6480 nope, it depends if you're going to do only the chorus or like the intro + chorus. If you practice many times, especially since fancy has many detailed arm movements that can be mistaken easily, then it's easy (at least for me)
I would like to dance, but my parents don’t allow me, they say that I’m still small to dance kpop dances. They say that I do not make noise, do not jump. It’s a shame, I’m already 17 years old, I’ll soon leave them, I hope.

OK I actually have a tip for learning dances.
So me and my friend loves dancing so ofcourse we learn dances. Learning dances generally take us around 2-5 days to learn the full one but we learnt God's menu in one day. How?
So a while ago I made this playlist for us and its a bunch of mirrored dances that we've never learnt before. It's honestly super fun and funny to do. All you have to do is try to copy the moves and I think since we've done the playlist so much that we've gotten used to the dances. God's menu was in the playlist so when we learnt it, it was easier to grasp. We usually do the playlist to warm up and have fun.
These are the names of the dances we do in it.

I'm really impatient too so I never do tutorials or slow anything down 😖
These were amazing tips, girl, especially the part about learning vs. practice vs. comfort speed. Pajama dance is definitely a thing, lol.
For anyone who likes to have videos easily accessible w/o having to go to YT every time you want to practice, just download the video and use a video player. I use VLC. It's free, spyware-free and an official software that works for Windows, Mac, IOS, etc.
With VLC player, you can mirror AND slow a video down, as much as you want. So I don't even have to look for mirror now because I just download the HD YT video and then use VLC to mirror and slow it down. I like to dl the videos and have them on my computer bc sometimes my internet is a whole douchebag and goes out when I want to practice dance. I can also make a playlist (easy dances to hard, keep group dances together), keep track of dances I have learned by placing them in a separate folder, and not have to worry about commercials suddenly playing or buffering videos.
--
For mirror: Play video in VLC, go to the tools menu option, video effects tab, geometry tab, check mark transform box, and select "flip horizontally". Bingo, every video will be mirrored until you change the option.
Sowing the video down: go to playback menu, speed. Then select what kind of slow you want (you can choose between a regular slow and a fine slow). The regular slow is normal slow motion, it slows the video and slows/distorts the music. The fine slow will slow the video but the music won't be distorted. I use fine slow for practice. You can slow as much or as little as you want.
You can also right click the video and find the same menu options.

_How I learn dances:_
*Watches random dances 10 to 20 times and then done.*
Things I do for BTS 💜!!
Thankyou leia ....we need more pple like u 😊
Thanks for the tips!
Your Wannabe dance tutorial was great! You explained every move properly and i was able to get it easily. Thank you so much for your effort!❤
This is my tips (if yall disagree, its okay)
A few years ago, I was beg by my friends to joined dance competition even though I had never danced, I was very stiff, did not know the dance technique and its my first time dancing.
1)I watch EXPLANATION tutorial ( that time I learn Love Me Right by Exo). For me its because for your understanding a choreo is more and better than self taught. For me, self taught is for people who ald watch dance for so long and ald dance so many time, also they have dance basic, and has good understanding a dance choreo. So if you think your dance like isn't good enough or feel isn't compatible with the actual choreo, so just see explanation tutorial. It will help you understand more each section of choreo
2) Just flowing explanation choreo many kpop dance maybe around 10-15 songs. If you think your dance getting better and level up, feel confident of your skills and your understanding a dance choreo getting better, then you can move to self taught.
3) STRETCHING AND WORKOUT. Its important in dance. In can increase your body/movement control, flexibility, body lock more honed and etc
4)Record yourself dancing. This is my my biggest glow up in dance. Because you can clearly seen your weakness thu recording than mirror. (this is why dance teacher is important. Also, recording also can be our device dance teacher HAHAHAHA)
5) AFTER you record, screenshot some step that look isn't compatible with the main dancer (using fancam). This you can see there are some part you are out of control, wrong placement, isn't execute well and etc which compare to actual dancer
Optional
6) go to dance class. Choose any dance you want. It's good that you know more about dance skills and technical
Why I said its better fllwing explanation tutorials for beginners who wanted to dance? From my experience, I could feel my understanding of choreo become better and Also my skills improve fast than my friend who are beginner dancer but using self taught taught method.
Thx for sharing! But what if I can't find choreo explanation? I've been looking for a while and it's juts slowed down movements 😐
@@arandomperson1795 you can get dance tutorial videos from LEIA, Kathleen Carm and Charissahoo. 😁 Ive watched them for years.
you're the reason i have improved at dancing you are my inspo. i have memorized t.t cheer up and how you like that because of yohr tutorials. thank you so much! i will keep getting better.
Sana all
Please make a stretch routine video! I've been meaning to ask for one a while now haha.
We have the same yups for learning kpop dances! Glad that you explained it properly ♡
Tip: if you don’t have enough space around your mirror to dance, you can use a window and look at your reflection. The darker it is outside, the easier it is to see yourself, and you can turn on the lights inside to enhance your reflection as well. It’s sounds obvious, but I struggled for a year and a bit with the little space I had around my mirror, and when I realized I could do this, I felt really stupid, until I realized that a few people that I knew didn’t realize this either, so I hope this helped. I usually practice in the morning or when it’s night outside, or on less sunny days, and I have a long window, so I can travel around the room without worrying.
Cutie even i do this until i realised that i live in building and my opposite building people can see me and before they announce me mad i stoped doing that now i do it by lookingmy tv keeping it off😂😂🤣😅
i recommend using mirrortube chrome extension. it mirrors/flips your video and you can even adjust it at your preferred speed of the video also you can loop the whole video or some certain parts of the video. this is possible only if you are in pc,laptop ! its my no1 resource when mirrorring video on go!
that moment when everybody clowns you at the first stages of learning a choreo but that all changes once you’ve become the sixth member of itzy
Okay but I'm seeing everyone saying you learn the choreo with watching and dancing along but am I the only one learning it move by move ???
Personnally I pause at every move then repeat it to learn it and learn piece by piece, then do the choreography without watching it at all !!! If you watch it it will be more difficult to do it on your own after I think... I personnaly learn an average difficulty chorus in about 20minutes.
I also adapt the choreography not focusing on someone specifically but never doing the moves of the one singing because it's just doesn't seem like dancing to me. Her video is really good to me because she has the most similar method to me that I saw ! Thank you for doing this, it can be really useful !
I was watching you learn the chorus of Kill This Love (which I have already learned) and watching you practice made me see some small movements that I missed! Thank you for the tips!
I don't know if this is kind of weird but, I watch the whole performance like 3 times. And then, I'm going to start to learn the dance. Watch the performance in low speed 3 times (I'm starting to recognize the steps)
And then, divide the choreo (Intro, 1st Verse, etc.) Then, memorize the choreo without music.
That's how I learn the choreography.
1st Tip: Find a place in your house where no one finds you
thank you so much for this, i just started kpop dancing and i've been struggling. these tips were really helpful and it helped me sm:) lots of love
0:54 sorry to get in the way but we still have school in sweden
Stay safe! Praying for you and your family to stay healthy❤
Well i’m sorry
Hey, I just wanted to check in w you, how is everything? Is school still open in Sweden?
@@luciejohnson4081 Ye still open i mean i think some schools have closed but not many even tho they say on the news u cant be more than 50 people at the same place .-. but thank you stay safe!
Well that sucks.
Im currently learning wannabe by itzy all i need to learn is the ending aka after the dance break this video helped me a lot 🤩
Me who used to practice without using the mirrored version: 👁👄👁
I'm a fast learner and really just learned the dances from tutorials on RUclips 😂 I tend to be able to get it on day 1, and when I have the time I practice the dance I just learned and fix my moves to make sure it looks nice. I really liked your tips I'll try it out when I learn a new dance. Thank you!
This is the best tip video for beginner like me even I am korean and watched a lot of korean videos..;;
Your dance tutorials are so helpful! I even learned kill this love through your tutorials and your practiced version!
A stretching routine would be awesome!!! I never know what to stretch or what stretches are good for warming up. Also do you have a workout routine you so to stay fit or does the dancing do good enough on its own?
finally someone explains this in a way i can comprehend. thank you SO much learning kpop dances has honestly ben SUCH A STRUGLE for me. i feel like these tips will really help
the thing is that im not really confident so when i dance i doubt myself alot and give up 🤧 especially when im in the same room with any other people. i feel extremely awkward and give up
I'm learning fiesta right now and i always learn the chorus first for every song i learned (even though 99% of the time i just learn the chorus and nothing else) as it just helps me put together the dance easier
literally the only full dance i know is bwl but ive watched so many peformances of feel special i nearly know the whole thing
Pleaseeee do a stretching routine
Thanks for posting, I have been learning dances for a few months now but have been using tutorials, nothing wrong with that 😊 but I’ve just started wanting to learn dances with no tutorials but never really knew what to do or how to start... thanks a million xoxo
Stretching routine please! Everytime I dance my arms and my legs crack like crazy
This is super SUPER helpful!! I've been dancing for 7 years but every time I try KPOP choreos, I always have a hard time learning it but now that I watched this, there was that "ooh!" reaction after hahaha thank you so much!!! ❤️
I have a question???
How we will know that the group members are moving their right hand not left??
if you learn from a mirrored video, you mirror their moves. thats it. then you will see which arm they move
I've been tempted to learn kpop dances (and other filmed dances) for a while but I had no idea how to start and this is SO helpful for an absolute beginner THANK YOU
Aaaaaaa, that's so cute💕😍💜
I dream about it, or you really like my comment💜
Nice video. I´ve been dancing kpop for four years and I´m always looking forward improving my tecnics, movements and body expresion. So, your tips are really useful for me. I´ll keep them in mind next time I learn a choreography. I´m sure they´ll make a good difference.
I can say that by this video I learned that, at least in dancing, details make difference. I see that just adding a bit of power on hips or movement on head, it has a different energy. This is great!
