Hi i just got some nirnhoned greaves but i dunno where to start with them? It says i need to research them to get the trait but i really dont know how to go about that, any advice please?
Absolutely, greaves are researched at the blacksmithing station. once at a station click on the research tab in the upper right, next select the nirnhoned greaves and click research. This will destroy the item but after research is complete you will know the trait on that character hense forth. The more traits you research the longer it takes per item but there are passives you can spend skill points on in the crafting lines to help with this process. do i have to research each armor piece to craft a set? for example if a set requires 3 traits at least , basically i have to research 3 items no matter what gear they are?
I'm happy to explain. If the crafted set is a 3 trait set for example "Torug's Pact". This means each piece of gear that you want to craft using torug's pact would need at least 3 traits researched in order to craft said piece. So if I wanted to craft a chest piece of torugs pact, I would need to have 3 traits researched for chests in order to craft it at the torugs pact station. I hope this helped :)
I genuinely can't tell if the crafting system in this game is just the most cumbersome and unfriendly system I've ever experienced, or if I'm just too dumb to understand it. Even after watching several videos on how it works I've still got no clue at all how it works or what I should be doing with it. Would you say it's viable to never touch it and simply find crafters in Zone or Guild chats to do it for you? I seriously can't see myself ever bothering with it personally.
I understand, and crafting is not for everyone. My advice would be to do the things that make you happy in game. If there is ever a time you need crafted gear you can always buy them off traders, or have a friend/guildie/whoever make it for you. There are so many different aspects of the game whether it be pve, pvp, crafting, trading, ToT, housing ect. focus on the things you enjoy doing. :)

Yup, I hate crafting but I haven't seen anyone breaking down arguments to change my mind. Guess I'm going to start crafting more tomorrow 😂
