    Thank you for putting the engine size in the description of the video. It is unbelievable to me how many people will make a video but won't tell you the year of the car or the engine size.

    Thank you so much, for this great video. This helped me to replace my car water pump. Its a 1.8L CRUZE. Really good hints. By the way, I used a two feet hose (4 mm inside diameter) and emptied the coolant, without removing the cover under the bumper.

    There is a Husky 22 piece through wrench style torx set that won’t require removal of motor mounts it will fit with plenty of room to spare also use a little adhesive on the pump to attach gasket so it won’t move during assembly and torque to spec

    Removing the wheel and turning the crank is one way to turn the engine and move pulley but you can also loosen the tensioner on the belt, spin the pulley enough to reach the bolt, and drop the tension again and remove the bolt

    • @kyleboone8042
      @kyleboone8042 4 года назад +1

      This is exactly what I did. I didnt want to remove the tire so I just took the belt off the alternator, spun the pully and replaced belt 3x. it wasnt that bad. Removing the Torx 45's where a bitch though. Those suckers were TIGHT

  • @roberthodges1267
    @roberthodges1267 Год назад +1

    Just call me lazy but the only thing I jacked up the car for was to drain the coolant. This is a quick easy job if you use a torx bit and a ratchet wrench. I think it’s a T45 bit and a battery side post wrench will fit without having to do all the moving things around. Break it loose before you remove the belt. I’ve done two this way in about two hours each and I’m old and slow.

    I always recommend getting a scrap hose to guide the coolant into the bucket. Waaaay less of a mess.

      Ever since I started working on my Cruze I have kept one from an old line I replaced. Much easier to put it on the nipple down there and screw the valve open to drain it that way.

    You can avoid taking off the wheel by losing the tension on the belt and turn the water pump until you can lose the other(s) bolts.

    Hey Repair Guy, I have a question. I have a 2015 Chevy Cruze. I recently replaced the thermostat, now it stopped with the fan running high, but now there is a ticking noise coming from the engine on the side where the belt is. I have no idea what is making the ticking noise, any idea my friend? Thanks

      If you haven’t fixed this yet. Has your car also been running like crap and dying while pumping gas? If so it’s the purge valve.

    Unfortunately I own the sonic version of this car, replaced wtr pump a year ago only to get to do it again, along with serpentine belt, pullies, and belt tensioner and last but not least timming belt. I put alot of miles on this car and it still gets good gas mileage 35-37mpg otherwise it would have been at the bottom of a ravine or just plain blown up! Should have bought a toyota.......but It was cheap, I sure know why now. Any way great video thanks for posting.

    • @trevlouie
      @trevlouie 5 лет назад

      timing belt, change all components in that area that is required then once that is all done and put together change the water pump if you want change the thermostat also, throw on new belt and belt tensioner after you put timing cover back on they have a gasket for that too.

    My dad cut his fingers off when he was working on the car with me. He didn't scream or cry out. He just picked his finger up off the ground & said "get me some tape I cut my fingers off & I'm bleeding allot" I looked up & my eyes popped out. In his other hand he had the little finger parts. I was in shock & he was like "come on hurry up I'm bleeding allot here". My dad is like one of those crazy cave men. He looks normal but he could out work a donkey.

    Do you not have to worry about the car coming out of time when doing this?? I have a 2014 chevy cruze 1.8l NON turbo..and water pump is leaking.. from my understanding its the same belt that drives the timing.. and could mess it up if its moved wrong while replacing???

    • @mmaaddict78
      @mmaaddict78 5 лет назад +2

      Gitago Gaming The water pump belt is not the same as the timing belt. The water pump belt just runs from the water pump to the alternator.

    • @kyleboone8042

      It should be serpentine belt drivin. Most are. Some are timing.

    • @kyleboone8042

      I'd charge $300 to $350. The water pump OEM cost me $96 bucks with shipping. Fairly easy. If it was for a friend or family member, I'd do it cheaper for this car.
