Thank you! I just binge purchased some vintage bed sheets. Of course the sellers all said “amazing condition”, or “appears like new”, and they were not. I was going to use oxy in my washing machine with hot water, but, your method will be my best shot!❤
I had a recipe years ago that involved mixing powdered dry bleach with dishwasher detergent, pouring in boiling water, adding the vintage linens, soaking for 1-4 hours, rinsing, and then drying in the sun. Worked like a charm. If anyone has that recipe, I would like to have it again.
You know, I’m not sure!! I have however, used this method on antique doll clothes and it worked just the same! But all were pastel colors, nothing bright!
Hi, i have a linen beige bag, i washed it for the first time and when it was dry there were yellow marks everywhere...Is there a way to make those marks go away? I would really appreciate anyones help, thank you
I just did this and it saved me a ton of hours! I thought I was going to have to sew a new blouse from scratch because the original white blouse with lace trim that is part of a genuine Bavarian dirndl from my childhood days (50+ years) had completely yellowed. I'm passing the dress on, and with the refreshed blouse, the dirndl looks new again. Amazing!
This is actually awesome. It’s yard sale season here in the northeast and everyone has beautiful linens, but I never knew the best way to clean them. Thanks for sharing!! I have some gorgeous 50’s tablecloth’s that are stained to hell, but they’re so pretty that I’d hate to throw them out. I wonder if this would help. I can’t bleach them because I don’t wanna ruin the patterns. I’m gonna try this!
Please try this!! I was terrified to do this but after I saw the crap come out within an hour, I was good! Other videos showed constant water changes for days... but that was cold water. Worth a shot!
I have a fabric trinket box that I bought that is significantly yellowed. Would I be able to soak a box or should I use the tooth brush method? Hard to find anything online
Add a cup of baking soda and it will be sparkly white. Your lace is still too yellow.
Amazing result! Do you think it would work on silk?
Dry tgem out in the sun.

Wow, what a difference. I’ve bought a liquid soap for vintage linen called Restoration and I wonder if it works. Have you tried it?
I have not heard of that! I’ll have to give it a try!

Oooh that’s a tough one. It could ruin the wood or cardstock it’s made of (if that’s the case!) probably toothbrush method!
Wow, I hate to think of those lovely linens at the bins! I have a bunch that are family heirlooms that I want to try to brighten up. Thinks.
I know!! I’m just always happy when I find something I can save like this! I had found some late 1800s bloomers the same day too! So neat!
Thank you. Gonna try this.
❤thank you!
Thanks ! Best low risk, simple and practical method I’ve seen.
