    Interesting fact Jon. The CE 24 is the ONLY guitar EVER made that can be used in a cover band. It has 24 frets - u can play Metallica and the money solo etc, Rosewood fret board, locking tuners for dark stage string changes, functioning strap buttons, its has absolute solid solid tuning, whammy bar that does the job, its sound like a Strat or a les Paul (coil tap), its doesn't cost a fortune , its not too heavy and the quality of the build is excellent, fret work excellent. I searched every where for a similar guitar nothing came close, AZ24 nearest but tuning not as good. And you get a brilliant gig bag !

      1) Prs custom 24-08, can be the SE version. Though you'll need to swap tuners to locking ones.
      2) Tom anderson's Angel

      SE don’t have the nice thin neck . But it’s close . Also forgot to mention it has central placed dots ( even though they are birds ) . If ur learning lots of songs extremely important to keep it simple so dots in the side or no dots not good

      @@hoot9612 interesting! What’s the tuning stability like though ? PRS is just ridiculously good on that front . This has top end pegs and I have found that isn’t as stable

    I own the semi-hollow version of this guitar, but I had my local guitar tech swapped out the stock 85/15 for an BKP Polymath set (even replaced the original pots with new ones from BKP) because mine had connection issues with volume pot and wiring from some reason. The guitar sounds better now with no problems whatsoever.

    Wow! I know this video is a year old. But, this is the most mesmerizing solo I have ever heard. I only wish I could play like that. I have played that beginning solo over and over and, I just can't stop listening to it. Did you write that yourself? That is the sound I have dreamed of being able to play my whole life. You are amazing, my friend. I am still making payments on a Takamine 12-string you reviewed a while ago. But, after watching this video, I am going to look into the PRS CE 24. If for no other reason than, I want to sound like that. And, I don't think that I can sound like that unless I have that guitar and 'try' to copy what you just played. I probably won't succeed, but I will sound good trying. What an inspiration you have become, for more than just me, I'm sure. I probably shouldn't be spending most of my Social Security money on guitars but, I'm single and retired, so there is no one to complain about it. I had three wives and two beautiful daughters but, when you get old, you become irrelevant. We haven't spoken in years. Musicians, like you, and music, in general, have become my family. For people like me, people like you, mean something. Love your music and I am going to listen to that beginning solo one more time before I retire for the evening. Damn, that was a long comment. Sorry about that. You rock.

      Ooh, I'm an old guy too and thought I wanted a 335 or a Gretsch to round out my collection until I saw and played an Epi 339. Wow. Perfect size for me for a semihollow, in between 335 and a regular solid body like a Les Paul. You know, the only thing I don't like is not having easy rear access to the controls and wiring since I like to do my own work. Since these are ply laminates on the front and back I don't think a hatch would hurt anything.

    • @shawnmcginnis2508
      @shawnmcginnis2508 5 месяцев назад

      A little late for your question, bit maybe it will help somebody else.
      For starters the Epiphone or Squire are in a completely different category. The CE is a professional level guitar with a professional level price tag. Unless you are ready to spend and feel the need for a true pro level guitar, it's a lot of money and hard to justify.
      The squire or epiphone are good beginner-intermediate guitars and with a bit of fret work and maybe a pickup swap could last you a long time and not hold ya back at all.
      The CE, of which I am very proud to own at now almost 40 years old is an amazing instrument that could cover Jazz-metal and everything in between in a live setting and sound great. It will however never sound like an LP or a Strat. It's too full sounding to be a strat, and too bright and snappy to be a LP. That said you could roll back the tone just a bit and get into LP territory, or switch to single coil mode and get closer to strat territory. It's. Great guitar that can do a bit of everything, but maybe master none. It has its own unique tone (that I happen to love) and it is it's own thing. If you love the way a LP sounds buy an Epi and throw in some American Burst Buckers. If you love a strat tone buy a higher priced squire. If you want a true jack of all trades guitar and can afford it buy the CE.
      Now PRS recently came out with the SE line of CE24 guitars. I've played the flame top version. No it's isn't just like the Core CE24, but at 1/3rd the prices (or satin 1/5th) it is an amazing guitar that captures a lot of the basic mojo of the Core CE24 and from a playability standpoint it ain't ever gonna hold ya back.

    Could Improve the neck joint, making a smoother transition into the body. That is why I do not buy PRS guitars as details matter, and pickups are average even on the more expensive models of PRS guitars. When you buy a PRS you do expect the details to be looked after. Sometimes those small details are overlooked.
