i keep freaking out thinking im gonna lose the ability to breath automatically. No matter how many times I prove to myself its not true, it always comes back. I end up having a panic attack, then I am aware of my breathing until I finally realize that im ok. I still am always aware of my breathing.

Hey nick. If ocd is not all about anxiety and it can occur without the anxiety sensations, then how come can we accept our worst case scenarios if they seem to contradict the meaning of recovery. Like worst case scenario in sensorimotor ocd is noticing the sensation forever, but isn't this in itself ocd and opposite to recovery?

    • @aguywhohikes1271
      @aguywhohikes1271 Год назад

Hey Loaidarsa - Not exactly because recovery is the absence of chronic anxiety, shame and guilt, intrusive XYZ have lost their intrusiveness. Once we have become more comfortable with the sensation being present it doesn't have the same pull it used to but, good question.

Hey Nick! So i try really hard everyday to study but is unable to fully understand and get grasp of complex physics topics because of the amount of anxiety my brain is always in due to my OCD,i find it really difficult and feel like i cant fight competition because of this
I really love to do physics but unfortunately sometimes I can't get through it because of the lack of creative thinking and imagination ability as my mind is already fixated in background over my OCD
How can I break down this problem? Would it be a good idea if i request you to please make a seperate video about studying and OCD for student sufferers like me?

Hey Skew - This happened to me a lot in my career as well. In time I learned to break down a few things 1) There is no evidence that my work, how i feel at work, should be easy. 2) Just because I can't concentrate doesn't mean I can't learn to push through. In time I realized trying to force concentration was holding me back. You can get there!

I keep doing bad things on accident is this normal???? My brain keeps telling me oh you ment to do that your a pedo or animal lover or anything i feel so bad and close to end my life because of this and im only 15

and you know saying something that felt like an accident but not really and feeling like you meant to do it, wow do relate hard to that. Everything feels like it has a double meaning right? Thanks for sharing your story. I relate a lot, which goes to show that you are not alone. And you probably think I don't understand, but guess what? That's exactly what I'm thinking too- I think no one would understand my acts and my brains reasoning behind them. We can feel so incredibly alone, but the fact that there's so many like us who feel like we're the only ones goes to show we're all here for each other. No matter what, we're all here and we're all going through it together

[About your videos about sensimotor ocd (especially blinking, others are not physically dangerous but very distressing for people whose suffered from them)]
Congratulations you have destruct my eyes with your videos.
Nothing would have been happened if I don't heard you. My brain could not think this scenario alone, I would have just laugh if I was not in a bad anxiety period (now my anxiety is mostly gone but I don't think my eyes will get better sadly).
I had only a breathing obsession due to my panik attack, it was not an OCD (or not like "if I hear this all my life" (I just don't care I like hearing my breathing i'm so relaxed) but a temporary common hyper awarness because our breathing is ABNORMAL SO STRESSING during this period.
Now I have dry eyes, pink eyes, a conjunctivitis and irritation all the day in only 2 months (what will happen in a year omg). I had very good eyes before that with no major problem (except a high eye's tension but nothing bad).
Please, god please, put a reminder or an alert at the begining of the videos to preserve others from this. Put these videos for 18 years old minimum idk but don't let them like this.
Everyone who suffered from anxiety can be triggered by this. If you can notice your blinking and can preserve a good eye's health it's good for you but you need to know that's not the case for everyone. I can't notice them and I unconsciously stare without blinking several times a day now which cause me more than simply dry eyes.
It's not a game seriously, you have responsibilities. If you really want to help.
My life is not ruined, but why to make it more complicated. Life is already enough complicated.

Hey Mr Rayazo - I see where you're coming from but blaming others for our OCD isn't a good strategy. It's understandable to think this way but I would personally use this is a life exposure. Life isn't a safe space, which I think you might believe, and recovery involves hearing all fears and all thoughts.

Yeah... I don't want to blame you entirely. My first comment was emotional.
You're not responsible of my action. I choose to film myself to check if I'm blinking enough. I'm dumb, I know it, I'm surely anxious.
I just want to encourage you to put a warning because this is something which triggers a lot of people, not me directly obviously, (just see the comment of a scientifical video about blinking), especially if they know this can be a disease like me now. It's like the brain works.
I also want to show you that's not just "you are aware of your blinking, there is nothing wrong", it can be physically debilitating (middle to severe dry eyes).
You know "prevention is better than cure". I know (I hope) you want to help, prevention is also a great help.
Before saying "yes you have seen this video, that's like this, you need to live with" (yes it's a good, very good, advice), try to avoid this situation is also very valuable.
