Preach it Garrett...you are speaking my language. This is exactly why I prefer the older vehicles. I'll stick with my 1987 volvo 240. It's built like a tank, and I can work on it myself. Maybe I should make a stainless steel version of this car ...that way rust isn't an issue. Thank you for sharing your wisdom on this matter. Love those m35a2s as well. That's why I'm bobbing my m35a2 and converting it to disc brakes and power steering to make a reliable truck that's cost effective and I have the ability to fix it.
I see the blend door crap on the Kenworths I work on. $150k truck and full of cheap plastic. Also cheap, small wiring that rubs though and fails all over the place and one wire going bad makes it derate to 5mph or not go into gear.
Tell me about it. Had a John Deere 6155R tractor with no AC blower function. Wound up being the $1000 cab control because it had a problem causing it to not send power from one wire to the temperature control module which talks to the electronically controlled blower. Ridiculous.

Make them cheaper, make them last for a planned period of time, all while doubleing the price.
Its not just cars and trucks its everything things made to last and be rebuilt and be simple don't really exist.
