He catches from both places. His main tip being...If the fish won't come to you, then you have to go to the fish....location, as always if often the key to success. Most exciting way to catch Carp. I don't mind the boilie/bolt rig/wake up system,but visual at close range is the best thrill for me anyway.

    Just how i used to do it. My two sons would be lobbing out to the opposite bank or island while i plonked mine in the margin, they often wondered why i caught more than they did, i would tell them to fish smarter not harder..
    Carp fishing is fun but not as good chasing after the ever elusive Barbel.
    Great video as always Graeme keep up the good work.

    I asked the owner of my local fishery what had happened to a lily bed between two swims and he told me he had to dig them out as people were floating bread in the middle of them and getting snagged up then having to break off the line with a fish on.

    • @TAFishing

  • @johnmurphy3215

    Graeme I want to get into carp fishing but my mind boggles with the huge array of carp rods. With your vast experience, Can you please recommend carp rods to me or what you use? I would like to both ledger and float fish for them!

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 лет назад +1

      Can't help you on that one as all my gear is old , I have no idea what makes are even about nowadays .Not really anything you could do both methods with,but I use old school Avon rods which will double up for both float and ledger but have no idea if they are even made now.I would guess they don't want you using a rod that doubles up,probably want you to buy two different rods ! If you do get Carp rods,around 1 3/4lb test curve should be fine for starting.You don't want the heavy 3lb t.c. rods and big pit reels if you are starting up. Save some money,get average gear and put the time in on the water to learn techniques and watercraft. Should stand you in good stead.

    • @johnmurphy3215
      @johnmurphy3215 5 лет назад

      Thanks Graeme for your reply, I’m loving your style of fishing and will invest in a couple of Avon rods and keep it real, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the hype! 👍

    • @TAFishing

      All our Carp are returned alive,although the original reason for Carp in our country was created by the Monks who would keep them in ponds for eating. I can't imagine they would taste very nice ,although I have never eaten one myself.(The carp,not the Monks !)Plenty of better offers in the supermarket.

    After a brill day on the F1's last Saturday, I hooked into a belting ghostie doing the same thing. Only occurred to me when I saw it cruise past my feet at tea time. Came in short, chucked a decent bed of maggot out and dropped float on top. 10 seconds maybe float was gone Sadly, was still on my pole... elastic out to full length, straight into the new lily roots (which were a curse all day) and broke off. Will be back next weekend, and at 3pm will be onto the carp rod and under the tip... wish me luck!
