hey Todd,,if u reckon keith richard is even in the same league as mark knopfler..u are deluded my friend...clapton is a genuine fan of knopflers playing..he has said as much..listen to knopfler play a Martin on his own...mind blowing...the guy is a genius .!!..

First time you've heard Mark???????????????? Man it's a big "discrace" if you did like this song. Search the tube for many many other songs and superb live performances... Does anybody know who the musicians of this show are? I don't know anybody exept Guy Fletcher..
@Muskadash it is an intelligent obsevation , always is bleu and red, probably the clever people have decided that these are the right colors for music, but they are clever?
+nmm2122 Ihave tried to find it but I think whatever record company holds the rights aren't letting it go out in any media. Which is weird because I found much more mainstream videos that are off U tub are often even on their websites or a quick search.
yes, this is a great song- but he's NOT "better than Clapton or anyone" come on! He doesn't play the guitar better than Clapton, BB King, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Keith Richard, I could go on. Not taking anything away from him, but somebody does a great song and people say that they are "better than everyone"
Sure, all the ones you mentioned are obviously great players, so finally it is just a matter of personal taste. Knopfler is an excellent player with a highly unique style and sound but of course nobody says that he is technically the best of them all, or the fastest, or the one playing the most difficult stuff. However, there are many who say that they **like** him best, and that is something :)
Ingo Raven I like him too and love this song. Everyone who expresses an opinion of course it is a reflection of their "personal taste" I welcome anyone to challenge me as long as they do it without pure anger, but instead present an intelligent point of view.

I love this song... but I do not judge Mark Knopfler on this or any one song. This is a nice song... but Mark is a master musician and he is regarded as one of the best talents ever to play guitar by many of his peers....there has got to be a reason... personally I get chills when I listen to his guitar...
Todd, nobody cares about technical talent. Especially when it comes to music. What people care about are feels. Mark makes me feel his music, that's why he's the best to me.
