- Sorry for the short video, however I dont think it would be possible to combine the next scene with this one as it's very important and unrelated to this one.
He was diagnosed this early? I was thinking more around 1913, because that’s when he started to show major symptoms, and even published the “kismet rag” which more or less means he knew something was up, as that word means to be someone’s fate.
You know, I've heard some sources say he was diagnosed before he even published mlr. But yeah it's possible the movie might have diagnosed him this early for dramatic effect or something.
Idkwhattocallmyselfsothiswilldo interesting, thanks man
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 No, thank you. All of your joplin comments on other videos were extremely interesting.
Idkwhattocallmyselfsothiswilldo I might add more later if your interested.
@@SQUAREHEADSAM1912 Oh that would be great! I've learnt so much from all the vinheteiro comments and the one on the video about how mlr was the most influential song of all time.
The American federations outlawed ragtime 😂. I can only imagine if they heard the stuff that’s played on the radios nowadays
Raymond was killing it
I remember seeing this movie when Scott Joplin was trying to play Treemonisha, he was experiencing sudden and rapid tremors of one or both hands. That was the most disturbing onset of this illness that was to kill him. Syphilis.
"Raymond if you can't play it right don't play it at all"
lawl
Man, Stark is so harsh on that folk. He played the Maple Leaf Rag good enough XD
Arthur Marshall who had rags published by Stark said about him in 1959 “you see, that’s the thing about old man Stark. He was fair with us musicians”
black people is very talented, created rap, hiphop dance
and rock n roll
I'm not that good in hearing what they are talking about, can you tell me what the man is trying to do what did stark respond ? thx
The man in the gray hat was a music critic who wanted to interview Scott Joplin and to do the 1899 equivalent of getting him to join a record label. Stark refused, so the man reminded him that ragtime is outlawed because it sounded crude to them. Then, the man asked Stark to just describe joplin to him, and as he left he said "good luck in st louis", which is a reference to the world fair that joplin wrote "The cascades" for.
Ahh thank heavens for penicillin!
