I grew up just north of Boston and this is exactly how barbershops still are to this day. They know your life story and have your back like you wouldn’t believe.

We used to have that same type of barber-culture in New York too. Old Italian and Irishmen who knew your name and exactly what you wanted. They offered free coffee and doughnuts. Now they’ve all passed on and the new owners have accents I don’t understand, have very little in common with their customers, and overcharge for a rushed and cold experience. Oh well, time marches on I suppose.
