I find the saddest part of this is that the owner truly loved him and had bonded with him closely. It probably hurt her so much to not be able to take care of him anymore due to her health. He is truly grieving and sharing her pain, clearly a beautiful connection.

Jonpaal passed away on March 25 2024 at age 17. He had the opportunity to live many happy years with Dahae after she adopted him and surrounded him with love.

I had to stay in a dorm for 3 months to get my scholarship and my senior cat who is very attached to me hid 99% of the time after about two weeks of me being gone. Now she lives with me so all is well, but cats absolutely can imprint so strongly they become very dependent.
My cat died this week because of that. He had to do a surgery in his ear and after that he stopped eating. We did all the tests on him, blood test, tomography... nothing was wrong with his body, he just refused to eat. And after one month of forcing him to eat he died. I miss him deeply and I will forever miss him. I hope he felt all my love.
Really hurts my heart :(

whatever that lady was going through, i can't imagine the heartbreak of having to leave your cat behind because you know you can't give him the life he deserves. seeing the baby pictures and how happy and healthy he used to be really showed how much she loved him. brought me to tears :'(

This reminds me -- Years ago I owned a cat who was devoted to me. One day he was hit by a car and had to spend time in the vet hospital. He would not eat or respond to treatment and the vet sent to say he should be put down. I went to the vet to say goodbye to him and as soon as he heard my voice he "came alive"- he jumped out of the pen and covered me with purrs and kisses. The vet changed her mind and continued to treat him. He made a complete recovery. He could not face life without me, but when he realized I was still around he wanted to live again.. I am looking forward to viewing part 2.

Noah Handel My cat use to do that a lot before car rides, he HATED them and would make himself sick over it once we got him into the traveling cage. All doctors had said it had to do with nerves. We got him at 3 months of age, so I’m not sure what he experienced before hand that made him so scared of them, but that’s how he reacted. He actually looked a lot like this cat in the video.....

Depression and anxiety makes people go crazy, consider things you would never have thought of. The fact the owner still considered Joonpal's well being shows how muck she cared about her cat
To see people go out of their way to help him and genuinely being worried is so heartwarming in a way, my faith in compassion and humanity is restored
But its funny and ridiculous the same doesnt apply to humans and other people in need in the society but only to animals. Its not the pets that need this the most but the humans who needed to be save more.
One of my two cats passed away, and my remaining kitty stopped eating out of grief. She nearly starved herself to death, until we got a new kitten. After a couple days of rocky start, they became great friends, and she started eating again.

When I first saw this video, I couldn't stop crying. I don't know what got into me but I felt the cat's extreme sadness. It was just too much to bear. It was like my heart was drowning in sorrow.

I fostered a cat from a shelter which was found abandoned on the streets. He was declawed, so someone just let him go, unchipped.
The shelter showed me him and said he refused to eat, wouldn't move and was depressed. When I saw and heard that, I immediately said I would foster him! He blossomed in my home, and a great family adopted him!

It made me cry to see that the cat approached the women carefully, it’s like he felt loved again. That cat was hurt so many times not feeling loved or wanted, and now he gets to experience love which I think is the sweetest thing in the world
I imagine the owner wouldn't have left him if she knew he'd end up like this. She must have had a very close bond with him. I'm glad his new owner has such patience and affection for him.

Today I learned that cats can get this depressed. This actually gives me goosebumps. We don’t understand our own feelings in society, let alone a poor cat. I pray for this world and it’s healing.
unfortunately, a lot of animals can get depressed, especially animals kept in terrible conditions in captivity / kept in terrible conditions in general. In animal studies we talked a lot about it and its so heart breaking. A lot people don't realise humans aren't the only animals with emotions
im just gonna chime in and say that depression is basically a lack of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which leads to lack of hunger, and lethargy, and just not wanting to do anything. It doesn't have to be caused by anything external (bad conditions, abuse) but it can be caused entirely in the brain. It's a neurological problem.

I literally cried at the end. Poor baby, him finding a new owner and sleeping on her lap just made me tear up. If I was in her position I wouldn't stop crying
I am amazed that some are surprised that cats or dogs can have depression. I think any creature with strong social behavior can suffer from it. I have a cat which is traumatized and has the same signs as a traumatized human being.He is lovely, but very fearful to new situations, so its hard for him to adapt to new situations. Sometimes he can suddenly get very angry and violent. He reacts extremly sensitive to classical music, which means he beginns to purr und meowing, when listening to it. He often seems to be stressed out by situations which my other cat not even minds…all because a maschine almost squeezed him, when he was a kitten and then he changed the owner many times.
If you’re his forever home, give the love out freely every day, every minute. You sound sensitive to kittys needs, I’ll pray for your situation, as I have devoted my life to giving better lif3 to abondoned cats and rescues. God Bless you and your kitty.

Cat really do miss their owner or their fav person. My sister's cat did the same when my sister give one of her cat to my other sister.
When my sister came (the one who gv him) he immediately start hiding not wanting to see. I think he somewhat feels sad or smtg but at least he is very happy with new owner (my other sister) and me along
I had a cat who died from this. I knew her for as long as I could remember. Her name was Pepper and the cat who had been there her entire life died of a stroke, she refused to eat, wouldn't go to her favorite places, and died in under a month. I had managed to get her laying next to me, petting her. She purred for the first time since Shorty's death, and died by my side. Pepper had obvious depression, and I miss her dearly.

My cat had depression too, she died days later.
She was a good girl, i didnt like her slow suffering.
I Always Gave her attention and lots of love, i stayed by her side when she was with depression, my mom in 2016 put her to adoption and someone adopted her, they didnt treat her right and always kept her leaving and she was dirty, me and my brother heard her meows from below the car, it was her, we rescued her and she lived happily again, now, shes gone. and im glad i could make her happy.

My cat fell sick out of the blue and died when I went to college in a different country. She was a healthy young cat that had great care. I always thought she hated me cause I would cuddle with her and carry her around and she hated being touched (I was young and stopped annoying her a few years before she died, but she still hated me). My mom was the one who fed her, but I loved her the most. I remember hearing that she was ill and I just had this gut feeling that she won't recover. She couldn't jump anymore, but I remember when I called my parents, she heard my voice and jumped to the couch with her last pieces of energy and got close to the camera. Last day she was home my parents couldn't find her, but she was on my bed. She died in the vet, and I came home 10 days later. The vet told us that my absence could have possibly affected her health. It's probably one of the greatest losses in my life. More than a year has passed and I still cry like a child remembering her. Busya, I miss you, my greatest friend.

This is so heartbreaking. We have two cats we raised from when they were just 3 months old, they are now 2 years old and they still get a bit worried when we leave the house. I just had a cat like this. Its called Hepatic Lipidosis in cats. If a cat doesnt eat for a few days, particularly a heavy middle aged cat, their liver will become overwhelmed with fat to break down. This causes their liver to shut down, which makes them nauseous and unwilling to eat food, making the condition worse. The cat will die from Dehydration or Malnutrition if not treated. The treatment is to have a feeding tube put in, and force feed a surplus of calories and water until the liver regrows and the cat begins to eat on its own again.
My cat had to stay in the ER for 5 days, then I feed him with the feeding tube in his neck every 3-6 hours. 3 weeks later he was eating on his own, after 4 weeks the tube was removed. Total cost $7500
If you literally force feed a cat by shoving food in it's mouth, it will get a food aversion, which can make things worse. Cats are much more likely to develop a food aversion than humans or dogs, in which case they will be nauseated by the smell of that food.

It brought tears to my eyes when this gorgeous fur baby meowed at his lady visitor and then when she smoothed him, he placed his paw on her arm. His healing has begun I feel.

My cat depressed after my other cat dies. He won't eat and keep meowing like in the video. It seems he couldn't accept the fact that his friend had died because they were together for so long. I hugged him and gave cat treats to calm him down. It's so sad..

I hate when people get pissed and comment something bad about someone who commits suicide and left their relatives, most of them probably never actually experienced how depression and anxiety actually drive you crazy and it's absolutely uncontrollable and this video proves it.

Almost no one who does it means to hurt others. They are just in so much excruciating pain themselves that they can't see past it. I firmly believe no one can truly understand unless they have experienced it.

I have a cat once called nungnung , he loves me so much i have him since i was just entered highschool. Been with me for almost 7 years but then he got into depression like this when im going to university. He refuses to eat to play. He was very chonky and being all skinny. He only eats everytime im going back to my hometown. It breaks myheart thinking abt him. sometimes i think its all my fault. I didnt even get to buried him. My family did.. i love him so much. Rip nungnung .

I do wonder what happened to the owner, disappearing like that. It was clear they loved Joonpal a lot for him to become so heartbroken like that. It must have hurt them too. I'm so glad his condition got better.

@@For3v3rLove2 addition : she probably had a fatal disease and couldnt take care of Joonpal for any longer, and had no friends/family members that can take care of him.

@@mo_onkg Some people aren't in contact with their families and not everyone is ready or wants to take care of a pet. It's not an easy task to raise a cat
@@fendy5124 Maybe she couldn't afford to keep him due to medical bills. A similar thing happened to my neighbor. She didn't want to selfishly keep her cat when she couldn't take care of him properly, so she gave him to us knowing that he'd be safest/happiest in a more steady home. :(

I rescued a cat that was found inside a drain and she had depression refusing to eat or drink anything. I brought her to the fed and had no choice but to force feed her. I showed her so much of love and care. It's been a month now and she's so much better and she's eating well. If your cat ever has depression, main thing is to show them that you love and care for them.
Please advise me exactly what to do, i just rescued a cat that was gonna get euthanized at a shelter yesterday and shes showing depression behavior and not eating it’s breaking my heart she wont wven drink water

nt exactly true, animals also killed some of their owners/zookeepers who were loving to them. the greatest difference between animals and humans is that animals cant talk but humans can. If animals have the abundance of choice of food, water and affection from various people, they may choose others but not their owner. Its human nature also animal nature.
I came back to this video two years later and.. I am touched again by the ending when the hopeless cat suddenly decided to trust his new owner. Love animals regardless of their appearance, each of them has its own hard fate where everyone wants to get a little affection and kindness.

That woman has a gift. Just the other night here in NYC, I was walking my dog. I always carry cat food in my bag Incase I see a little friend. I spotted a cat and gave it food. It approached the food, but it started following me instead. I started to cry because I knew I couldn’t take it. I already have 4 plus a dog and two turtles. I had to scare it away. It looked at me until I turned the corner. I decided to look back and it walked away with its head down. I cried so much that night. I slept with such a heavy heart. 😞 I lost my job so I don’t have much to offer. But the little I manage to get I put towards helping street cats with food. Once I’m back on my feet I’ll go strong at it.

Celtic Phoenix that cat was used by the new 99 cent store around my neighborhood. I asked the guy where the cat was and he said “idk. Haven’t seen it”. Early this year, my mom caught the little guy trying to hunt for food by leaping at a small bird. It flew away, but you could tell the cat was hungry and wasn’t being taken care of. I hope it’s somewhere safe and better.

I’ve been very fortunate to have many pets over my life time. And each one has there own challenges. Your time will come when you will have a caring pet of your own. Be patient. Pets have a way of kinda just showing up. I mean the cat I mentioned was a tiny tuxedo kitten I found in a Home Depot parking lot 10 years ago.

Its ok Sama. I was also very sad awash with tears I wasnt even capable of seing this to the end. Few days later part 2 was in my recommended feed. This poor kitty made quite remarkable recovery. He no longer has depressed look. He gained weight. He seeks food by himself and continues to get loved by this woman. I was so happy to see him doing well. If u are intetested. Search "anorexic cat gets chubby" your heart will no doubt get warm and fuzzy when u see how well he is doing nowadays. Have a great day

this cat is proof that depression is not a mental issue as many claim. a person does not have endless strength at some point it is over at some point a soul has experienced too much. this cat feels like me i am grateful that i can identify with her
Poor baby 😔 I am so happy he had a happly ever after! This makes me want to hold my very own cat and NEVER EVER leave her side. The bonding between us is very strong my cat only trust me to pet her and comes to me in concern when I am distressed/crying my husband even said he's never seen anything like that .

As someone with depression, this brought me to tears. It's so terrible that some animals can experience depression too... I'm glad Joonpal got a new and loving owner to help him heal and get out of the dark hole of depression.
Same! The moment they showed him not eating and then crawling back into his 'house,' I thought "You don't want to live, do you? I know because I feel / have felt the same way." When the vet said "He has no will to live," I was like... didn't we all know that from 4:02? Lol!
