- This Fat Cat is all-original. Full plastic unbroken, decals, chainguard, seat cover, tool kit, keyed ignition, and everything works. Runs like a dream, cold starts with kick or electric start with a battery. The rear rack is aftermarket but built and installed like a brute. If you yearn for one like you used to own, this is *it*. Some guy selling one of them on this FB page I follow and I decided to come to RUclips to see what they are about... your video was first in line. I’m 40 and never really been on a motorized bike let alone a bicycle in sometime, for some reason I’m afraid of them. Something like this FatCat I could totally hop on and go from there. I have a 03 Raptor 660r and I have a blast on that thing yet 2 wheels scares me lol. BTW nice original. I hope you never sell it and pass it down. 👍🏼
Wow!!! I haven't seen one of these in over 28 years!!! 😀 I remember wanting to get one back when I was in the 6th grade, which would be around 1986....lol. Nice video!!!!
That motocycle is awesome 👍👍👍
Thanks.
take care of that man, looks like all it really needs is some paint on the rack. Awesome bike
These now go for over $3000! If you still have it, keep it!
There’s one for sale here in the uk the last I looked it was on £1100 on EBAY....import costs won’t be cheap
I like the rideability of the Fat Cats (good for big kids and girls) and the reliability of the Honda badge. If you can ride a bike, then you can ride these. The Yamaha BW's are more technical with the hand clutch, but you get bigger power/torque/injuries.
I've been riding one of these up at my friends cottage and surprisingly they rip in 4th gear on the trails through the woods but its still big as hell.
Yeah, hard to beat it. Wish I had a stock rear rack, but this one works.
@EasyRecipesHQ Thanks. Rack got painted, looked primo.
Yes. The '86 model had a black coated engine (top end). The '87 model kept the aluminum color in the top end.
doinker1972 do you know why they stopped making the fat cats?
I found this purely by luck. It's great bike that looks this good and still hauls the mail. I take this anywhere with trails.
Great looking cat! I hope you still own it
I sold it to buddy of mine. We did a few upgrades - new rear shock, fork boots, blast and repaint rear rack - but kept everything else original. It is ridden all the time by his wife, his 3 kids, and him. Easiest bike to ride.
@soggytoast89 Thanks! I thought it was pretty sweet. Not everyday do you find one this good. I added it to my stable of 3 Fat Cats, 1 BW200 and 2 BW350's.
I own a 1987 Fat Cat and I love it for accessing hunting areas beyond hiking distance. My only complaint is that it has a very low stance, and in rocky, steep areas you must be very careful to not catch rocks on the frame. If you have a line on availability of the original, knobby tires please let me know. I've only been able to find ATV tires (not knobby tread). Thanks
the dogs are saying, "let's go for a ride!"
awesome dog
damn those things are big . i thought they were like mini bikes or something.
They're getting harder to find, but comparable condition is going for $1200 or so right now. (10/29/12)
crazy what they go for today
@@rippinmachines I just saw one go up a month ago (Jan 2021). No price listed, so I called the guy. Similar condition, but fenders cracked, electric start doesn't work. His asking price was $5k. It sold for $4,500 to Ohio.
I know this was posted some time ago, but how are these in the mud? I've been thinking about one for dragging out whitetail deer from tight places where the 4 wheeler will not fit.
They are geared low enough to torque its way out of trouble. It will go nearly anywhere the handlebars fit. However, the current prices are unjustifiably high. They should be in the $1k range, but expect double that until speculation dies off.
Thank you for the info.
ergot57 I had a Yamaha Big Wheel 200 my buddy had a fat cat Honda in certain terrain theses kind of bikes could climb muddy hills that dirt bikes can not.
Thanks for the reply. They do seem to be just the thing, but costs are inflated it seems. Thanks again.
I heard that the fat cat was a no clutch automatic. Is this true?
Yes, the Fat Cats are auto clutch with a foot shifter. The similar BW200 and BW350 Yamahas are not.
I WISH I HAD ONE OF THESE
Oh so that's the 86 version?
Hi, I'm looking for a seat for the Honda Fat Cat
on his tippy toes. gotta lower the front and take the rear rack off
You obviously don't know these bikes. Lowering the front will ruin the steering geometry. Rear rack protects the rear fender.
I'll buy that off of you
I have 1 but its a Yamaha
Fat Cat LOL
