So BNVD can't be purged properly but is this a real concern? A lot of you people suggest the DTNVG but it hasn't the interpupillary distance adjustment and if I look the prices they are very high 🤔
hi, I'm not sure if the 1431 has a built-in infrared light as in the rest of the viewer and if it has a brightness adjustment. thanks in advance, I look forward to your reply.
Interpupilary Distance...i was looking for it in a PVS 7 but didn't know what it was called and stumbled across it while googling for it. Didn't know there was a term for it before that.
The Heresy Group From What I kept hearing/reading about, was that you could purge them, but once you open the battery compartment to change the battery, it would break the seal and lose the purging. So people would suggest running an external battery pack instead. Is that still an issue on the current models?
Regarding the purge issue. Purging is overrated, been running a few PVS14s unpurged for years in really damp conditions with no issues. And even if you purge a milspec 14, you need to repurge it after a few months
Cheers for that, this was the sort of vid I was hoping you would do, just need some in use stuff and an update after a good few months of solid use :-)
The Heresy Group - yes mate, explanation of all the components that make the DTNVG, and types of tubes, lenses, filters, bridge etc. It is a very granular build, good suppliers will marry like tubes etc, use the right screws etc. I think that if you thing of NVGS in the form of what you attach to your head as a ‘build’ of lots of different components, that can vary in quality, weight and reliability and that drives price. To have that broken down and explained about some of the features you need, auto gaining etc in a way that they are used and the function they provide in a practical sense.
I'm having issues with the SOTAC L4G24 tilt adjustment. It's screwed down as tight as I can get it, but they still tilt down and I can't get it to stay where I set it. Any tips to prevent this?
The flirs have inter pupillary distance screws aswell mate. Imo the 1431s are way better than flir. I ditched my flir duals for a pvs14 purely because they struggled that much in low light.
I'm American, and I have a gen 3, 14. If I was able to get a 14 with photonis the day I bought mine, I would of save the extra coin and gotten it lol The gen 3 is a beast don't get me wrong. But I am in mostly urban areas. So even when I use it for work in dark dirt roads there's always some sort of light transmitting in the sky.
thank you for this in depth review. I’m curious what your thoughts are after running them a little while? I am interested in them but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of info out there and most of the forums in the states talk like they’re an overpriced FMA look alike. Awesome content by the way, I just subscribed to your channel.
Hello, could you indicate which is the velcro kit for the helmet that you are wearing in the exfil in the thumbnail of the video? later in the video it is not seen mounted, could you tell me the brand or how to get it, I have the same model and I think it looks great, thank’s
Hey Tim I have a question I'm getting ready to purchase a pair of these within the next few months can I wear my glasses with this or am I SOL also what do I need to purchase so my 1431 sits flat on my TW SAR when I'm out on a call so it doesn't get caught on trees and such

DTNVG user here. The pods turn off exactly where you expect them to, and you do not have to push them away all the way up. Good vid!
Thanks mate
The 1431 developer simply lack the ability of adding an articulating shutoff feature which is not included in the original design.
You think so ??
ACT does sell commercially but through dealers. Not directly.
Like Falconclaw & Nighttec I believe.
Got ya thanks !!
They look like they ride really low even with the g24 maxed out in vertical adjustment. Have you found that to be an issue?
Not at all I have a pea head too lol

they can be purged ! The very first model had slight leak in battery ...fixed now

DTNVGs dont look cool ?

4:55 I had my PVS14 front lens smashed by a BB thought one of those... Anything less than a 3mm thick lexan would put your optics at risk.

I read on reddit that there are issues with purging the tubes since the battery housing internally is not air proof
I think on the early gen models. Both of ours were purged :)
@@RandomTrashy Good to know! thanks for the reply

The ones I had hardly worked ( they didn’t go far enough out )
They lack a cutoff due entirely to cost, or the inability to effectively engineer one. It is not a feature
I like the non cutoff, Its a feature for me :)

How is the glass on these compared to DTNVS / DTNVG?
Carson Lenses ...
Out of Curiosity what gen are they ??? Great vid Tim 🤙🏻
They are Photonis Echo
What's the difference between the basic and echo versions of the tubes?
The Spec of the tube - www.photonis.com/products/image-intensifier-tube-echo
@@RandomTrashy Thanks!
Bacis has only about one half of gain as the Echo tube does. also lower FOM (around 1450) and smaller diameter of output window.
Good tips on drilling the helmet for the cord. Might do it on mine too
Another great video. Well narrated and informative. Great job!
Thanks very much !

Yes

These have an ocular lens. Meaning you can basically use these as glasses themselves. And what is a TW SAR?
