I took the RawHyde level 1 training at the California facility and found it informative and super useful. I also did the trip out right after, it's called Base Camp Alpha. It really helped cement the skills I'd learned by putting them into practice right away. Excellent experience I'd recommend to anyone looking to learn how to really learn to these big bikes off-road.
Thanks for the interesting comparison. After considering both, based on timing and price I did a West38 level 2 class in Borrego Springs, and followed that up with a level 3 in CO, which included a day on the COBDR, summiting several high passes in the San Juan mountains, which was super cool. Also particularly enjoyed learning skid turns, plus navigating obstacles such as logs. The most useful skill was learning to trust my ABS in panic stops and hill descents. Feel West38 met my goals of prepping to undertake BDRs, and I'm doing one this summer. I'm in SoCal, though, so I plan to try out a RawHyde ride at some point, since it's only an hour and a half away, but first think I'll do the Baja ride with West38 because it looks really fun.
Steve - Skid turns were one of my favorites (actually just my favorite straight away)! Glad you enjoyed your training, Dusty and crew are great. I, too, will be trying a Rawhyde class out this year. Ride safe!
Appreciate you sharing this. It was valuable insight to have, especially considering the cost difference. Funny how the skid turn skill is tempting me toward West 38 just for that alone. :) Hope to see you around Colorado. 2022 Pan Am rider here.
I took a full day dirt bike class right before the pandemic and I think that will prove helpful. I also definitely plan on taking an ADV class now that that’s my focus at some point next year. Ride Adventures is the one I have heard the most about, but someone recently referred me to a local Colorado course I plan to check out too. I I am just getting comfortable with my new bike and road riding in general, so I will probably get a bit more settled with that stuff before taking another class. Cool video. 👍🏾
I'm gonna take HD's 1 day course next year and I'm probably gonna end up at the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course, its really new to them so I won't know anything until probably after the 1st of the year about that one, I would love to do the Rawhyde course in CO, unsure if money and time will allow it though....
PanAm_Ed - I’m excited to hear feedback on the HD course! Jeremy had a lot of positive comments about his experience taking the MSF…was time well spent. Rawhyde Colorado does sound intriguing. Following up the class with some trail riding right after was something that I didn’t really think much about, but now I would really consider it.
Are you planning on attending an ADV class in 2023? If you've already taken a class, how was it? 👇
I certainly want to. I think narrowing down to Where and With Whom are my need to answer questions.

Great video......I think I'll sign up for one as well.
John - Nice! I'm planning on attending some more training in 2023 as well. It was time and money well spent.

@@exploready Totally agree about Dusty and crew -- they're cool and fun and create a good bonding experience, and know how to teach these skills.

Adrian - The skid turns were a lot of fun ;)
Really looking forward to warmer weather and road surfaces that are predictable!

Urban - Come 2023 you'll be getting ready to sound a 'shred alert'!
@@exploready I sure hope so lol.

@@exploready exactly, they have one that goes into the Rockies for a few days right afterwards
