- 750,000 participants from 72 countries convened in Denver in the summer of 1993 for World Youth Day and a visit from the Pope. Organizers feared the gang disturbances of the notorious “Summer of Violence” would scare away visitors, and yet for those 5 and half days, all violence ceased. This episode of Colorado Experience examines the largest gathering in Colorado history. Archival photographs, footage and modern-day interviews track the historic visit of Pope John Paul II, the Catholic Church’s revered leader.

I Was There. Pope John Paul the second is an inspiration to me still, now at 44. I've learned so much over the years, and now I'm realizing that experience had more impact on my life than I ever would have imagined. World you day 93 alumni, Lee Jean-Louis.
What a great man. All of Poland and all those of Polish ancestry stood proud the day he was elected Pope. He did not disappoint us.
The world loved and respected the Great Man for his unforgettable contributions to the Religion,Theology,International Peace and Solidarity.He was a strong Pillar of the Faith, had an iron will and solid principles.He advocated for peace,integrity,equolity so succesfully in our complex world.Truly God's Servant until the end of his days.

It was in Denver during WYD where Mother Angelica stood up for the Catholic in her world famous half hour tirade on the WYD Stations of the Cross, where a woman portraied our LORD Jesus Christ.
He saw the horrors of Communism in his native land Poland. He therefore endeavored to stop Communism to spread. And now...now in the USA😰😰😰😰

I was there. I was a cashier at 711 Convince Store on Santa Fe and 11th St. The Pope was carried down the street as I was working.
Love was written on his face. He just loved, and loved and loved and loved. He loved you before he could talk to you. Isn’t that the 1 st commandment ? He fulfilled it to the tee! That is why people responded the way the did. Imagine a world with just a thousand people exactly like him. It would be paradise on earth!
