Hard tails definitely look cleaner and more elegant imo. Tremolos are just fun. Both have a place. And you sound like a rly cool uncle to gift a guitar like that to your friend's son.
@@Prochaska97 thanks for saying that I just try and do what I feel is right and giving him that guitar was great because he takes it everywhere he goes now. and if i can help inspire the next generation of musicians then that is pretty awsome as well.
Why is that black+red gio in particular so extra cool compared to like... most other production models, it even has coloured sharktooth inlays like the old Frank Gambale signatures!
I have the hard tail GRGR131EX and I love it. How well does the GRGR330EX stay in tune? If there are tuning issues, will a stabilizer cure the problem? I am looking for a low cost super strat with a double locking trem to add to my collection and do not want to spend an arm and leg for one.
I don't even care that it's a Gio. I want one because it's all black with a reverse headstock, a tremolo, and it makes me want to play Slayer songs all day
im wondering, how good is the stability on the Edge used on the RG550 genesis? I keep finding mixed reviews online, but I wanna know how good they actually are?
They are good they stay in tune well and they are almost as good as a Floyd Rose some may argue that and say they are better. I don't think they are better but they are really good.
@@ryant3600 yeah but you know what better not ever have a problem with one of the saddles on one I had an Ibanez grg 350 with one and one of the saddles on it messed up and it was about 30 dollars for a new one little saddle screw and saddle. I said hell with that that's not worth it and I had an old Floyd Rose laying around that I took the saddle off and replaced it with they where a little different but it worked. After that I sold it to a friend for 300$ I really prefer Floyd Rose over the edge tremolo but they both work fine with me. They really aren't miles apart from each other.
@@richardjones2811 It does say.. its literally called "DL" or "double locking" trem. They suck but they were using those on their Indo made 400 series guitars and jem jr's. But a real floyd or gotoh will drop right in
Well there is some differences between the 2. The 470 is a jatoba fretboard and the 330 EX has purple heart fretboard. The 470 has quantum pups where the 330 has infinity pups, both have the cheap "DL" trem. the 330 has the whole black on black theme and reverse headstock. I prefer the infinity over the quatums, but if I owned either, they'd get pup upgrades and hardware upgrades including a gotoh or a real Floyd.
A Gio with a frickin Flying Trem? And it's hold the tuning perfectly fine? Take my money Ibanez And if anything happen i still can mod it to Gotoh flying trem
Gotoh should fit right in, if you want to use the gotoh big posts then you'd have to drill for that, but they'll go on the posts that are with it, or like I did, I swapped the original posts for Floyd post (no drilling) and dropped my gotoh right in.
@@olafdiers3613 I don't know a few reviewers have said that these infinity pups sound better than the 400 series that comes with quantums. and on camera they sound better, but either way I'd always swap out stock pups anyway
Damn they made this guitar even more sick!
Definitely a purchase.
Rounded the fret ends on one of these
For a buddy, set it up and tuned down to drop C with 12s and man! This trem was stable and stayed in tune!
I had the red and black version loved it I gifted it to my friends son when he started learning metallica. I do prefer a hard tail vs tremelos though.

Do they just punch a keyboard and whatever comes up, use that to name the guitar?

@@frostfiendstudios7803 I have an Ibanez RGRT 421 neck-thru. But that's pretty easy.
G=Gio line
RG=Body type
R=Reverse headstock
330=model number
EX= Sometimes they used Dx and Ex to refer to deluxe...
for the model number:
3 = tier (higher is usually better)
3 = H-H with pickguard
0 = tremolo
got it as my first guitar... ! love it
me too 🙂
You make using the tremolo arm so much fun 😂
Wow thats bridge tremolo 😱
Best addition to the legacy brands lineup
I have the hardtail and I love it. I put some Dimarzio Evo's in mine.
I loved this guitar becuse the sound it's amazing!
Plug any guitar into that rig and it'll sound good.
Any guitar will sound good on a good amp
I used to own the matte black RGR320ex which basically the same thing, and it was a great guitar

Looks like the grgr131ex but this is more metal 😊
I would buy this if it was twice the price. Pre ordering mine now!

Edge is better not only in stability but also in the feel and usability. It has more range of motion which is smoother.

What bridge is it though?
Looked on Ibanez website and it doesn't say. That means it's more than likely Floyd Rose Special standard which is a massive negative.

I love my gio... it plays better than my m.i.j Jackson. And sounds better.
I think $389 for a $240 GIO + Floating trem, just doesn't match up. I'd rather add more $100 to get the Ibanez RG470DX.
