- Four songs from German TV. Mr Bungle perform live in Koln on the 'California' tour during 2000. The songs are The Thing Strikes, The Air-conditioned Nightmare, Ars Moriendi, and Carry Stress In The Jaw. These are, AFAIK, all that were broadcast.
The day before bizarre festival.
Bungle at there best. I saw them twice in 96.
I love how I can hear Trevor Dunn's bass playing very clearly. I'm a big fan of his bass playing and he inspires me to play bass.
bass.
Nice nice I’m also a bass player (the one who inspired me to pick up bass was Les Claypool from Primus)
All go which are great musicians, I play guitar but I have so much respect for Trevor Dunn and Les cuz even I can tell how much talent and music knowledge they have
I love this band more than words can express. God, I miss them.
Amen, brothers and sisters. With this new re-recording of the Easter Bunny demo, perhaps there *is* a future for the mighty Mr B.
Warfield 2020! I was there.
@@Tangento too bad it sucked compared to their actual albums, but I’m not complaining, I mean it’s not new material or anything just them having fun :))
@@Tangento the bunny thing is awful though…
@@fab1651970 Not for those of us who musically thrived during the mid-80s metal/ punk/ hardcore crossover revolution
MAN! two of the best tracks from California and arguably the best from Disco Volante?! if you had to pick three tracks to get on tv from these guys that ain't a bad lineup
so fucking tight! those grooves ! all those sounds?!! Even Patton's reverb hall ? even their sound guy is a kick ass musician. thank U Mr Bungle
Considering how elaborate all these songs are, it's so great to see these guys are also such an incredible live band as well as studio band. They pulled off "Air Conditioned Nightmare" so well.
Also considering the limits of sampling technology at the time. I never thought they’d be able to pull off “air conditioned” or the crazy “ars morendi” song that followed. Honestly thought that song would be an impossible live feat considering how CRAZY the composition is. When I saw them they only got to play 3 songs cause it was so hot their samplers shorted out.
When I first saw Bungle in 1996 I went in thinking "well they must just do improv or something live because their songs are largely created in the editing room, right? Wrong!"
So glad to grow up with these heroes than the crack heads today that have to lip sync simple pop songs.
Best singer in Earths history. No one will ever do what he's done. And 1 of the most insanely talented bands in history. I've been listening to Bungle since 1985ish. This is the band that needs to reunite before it's too late & give everyone 1 more album & tour. FNM has done it & it was fucking excellent.
Umm. Considering “California” came out in 1999, how were you listening to them in 1985, I mean the “goddamnit I love America” demo didn’t come out till late ‘88, and their first proper album wasn’t released till 1991. So..... did you know them or something? Love to hear what they were doing in 85, do you have an old demo, or did you think the first album came out in 1985? Not trying to give you shit I love them and would love to hear what they sounded like in the very beginning
@@RustinChole They had talent show footage and shit from 1985 but I think thats the earliest recording of them thats public
wish granted...
warning though, it's nothing like this.

Well . . . you got the tour at least!
You are getting an album too...
This clip starts with Trevor Dunn, the best bass player ever, playing chords while dressed in a Goldilocks outfit; then Patton starts singing like a human Theremin.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Mr Bungle at their best....
That scream at 11:20 is incredible. Hard to believe it's even a human doing it.
The Thing Strikes - 0:00
The Air-Conditioned Nightmare - 1:17
Ars Moriendi - 5:14
Carry Stress in the Jaw - 9:21
I'm always so shocked at how few views some of these live bungle shows have!
I saw the California tour. If Mr Bungle ever tour again, trust me that you should NOT take mushrooms beforehand.
Or ever assuming you're the type to like this stuff...😂
Despite my unending protests and warnings, my then-girlfriend demanded to join me for a show on this tour. She was... Not emotionally prepared for the sensory onslaught. When Trevor's parents were introduced in the crowd, and then he proceeded to beat the daylights out of that mannequin on stage, I think she went catatonic. I think she's still shaking, 24 years later.
Saw twice...I say take double
I really miss this side of Patton
They played Air Conditioned Nightmare PERFECTLY! Greatest band ever
Best performance of carry stress in the jaw
I wish I was born in the late 70's. Just so I could experience these guys
SoundCzech um....it wasn't the 70's. They started in the mid 80's. This show was 2000. I know. I use to open for them.
@@unijaner They said they wish they were BORN in the late 70's, that would make them 20+ in 2000, so they could have seen Bungle.
@@unijaner math bad
Why? I was born in 1980 and had their first album at 11. Saw them on this tour at 20 and it was magical.
@@RustinChole I was born in 80 too, had their albums but seeing them, even right next door here in Canada was a hit or miss thing...they weren't exactly huge names, people into off-kilter music would know them mainly because it was "the singer from FNM's side project", but the only times I had the chance to see them was complete luck, unless you lived IN a major city or something you may catch a flyer, or a magazine mention of dates in Kerang or something, then you'd have to hope the thing wasn't passed already, that there were still tickets, and (if you were young like 16 or younger) you could get in to town an hour and a half or more away.
I ALMOST managed twice, once a show in Toronto and another in Hamilton or London ON, can't remember which, and both times even though I moved heaven and earth to see them, it always fell through...once by the time I saw the concert was coming it was sold out, and the other I had no cash and no way to get to the venue and by the time I moved my pimpled teenage ass to scrape together the money for a ticket for the show...yeah...sold out...even then I'd have had to either hitchhike or get fare to the venue and home again in the middle of the night, or pay for a motel and a ticket home the next day. Shame we didn't have things like Songkick so I was notified the day the concert went on sale and the like...saw tons of shows, but these guys I never managed to catch...
That insane note though. You know the one...
If somebody asked me to explain adulting in one song it would definitely be 'Air-conditioned Nightmare'. No question.
Mr. Bungle at their peak. Absolutely fucking dialed. They could play anything at this point. I miss this era fo sho! Happy to have caught 3 shows post-California.
This is incredible. Ars Moriendi sounds outstanding. Air conditioned nightmare, well, no words
What about carry stress in the jaw?
I would have loved to see them during this period. They had a full compliment of killer musicians to help pull off this album perfectly.
I was like 17-18 and saw them in Atlanta like 3 times around then. Amazing.
carry stress in the jaw wooow
Sounds awesome, like in disco volante
I was blown away hearing it at a show the first time. The exotica arrangement is so cool.
My Heroes...I didn't figure these studio masterpieces were capable of being pulled off live. Corrected!
Me too. Jesus Christ. That is not easy to coordinate! Especially with the available gear at the time. So epic.
Everything Patton put out after Album of the Year is S tier.
And I thought he was done after FNM broke up!
9:21 jaw slow version is hawaian spot on
14 mins is not enough when we're talking about Mr. Bungle!
Viva 2 .... always quality music... why, this channel is´nt a thing anymore? Back then i could watch it all day
was at that show
Ich auch. Geile Nummer!
Can we just talk about the Simcity 2000 sound effects Patton was throwing in on the breaks in Carry Stress in the Jaw?
I've listened to this full show at least 8 times
la banda mas completa y multifacetica que ha existido
Amazing stuff...! Nice mix...
Peak music.
Can’t wait to see them in February 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing!!!!
U know whats the problem with bands today?
They dont have the chainsaw girl on stage
Glorious!!!
wow 😮 sound exactly true to the album recordings..🙂
i was at this show, glad i can see it again, thx for posting
Bungle at the height of their powers.
"La wea wena!!!" Nada más que decir!
Lara Gutierrez los culiaos estaban a otro nivel weon
Tremenda banda wn
TBH I don't think Patton could even sing the majority of Mr. Bungle songs live today. His voice has changed so much 2015+
i think he could make do. his voice got a bit thicker and deeper, but i think that will only help with the low notes, and he still can nail operatic high notes usually. and i think his screams have only gotten better as he's gotten older. i'd love to hear it just to find out
@@shermith4751 I hope your right. The reason I doubt it is he has shyed away from high notes and melodic singing a lot the last 8 years.
Sehr sehr gut❤❤❤
This would be the soundtrack to a very twisted circus show
La raja !!!
Ta pulento oe
Wish I could've seen them live. Is a comeback reunion too much to ask for??? :(
Guess you got it, honey!
@@marycreaser6802 well, not a Reunion of the Band like this though...
they were actually here in germany.
Yeah. Just a 2,5 hour drive away from me. But I was just -1 years old. 😢
12:28 🥰❤️
11:20 :O
So ! Try to cover this .......
I lost the pants that go with my dress. He stole my dress. Like literally... I have that dress.
What was that "Carry stress in the jaw" snip after Ars Moriend? 😱
La Lucertola > Love is a fist > La Lucertola? Sick👍
Who is listening to this in Air Conditioning?
The alternative Zappa.
😆🥳😆
Why only ONE thumb to up?!
Hate thyself lovingly
I saw them on this tour in Milwaukee. The played California start to finish. That is all. Very disappointing. Yet, still fucking awesome!
Not true...
What are you people talking about? Any Bungle is good Bungle. I'm very disappointed in you. Fucking awesome is Carry Stress in the Jaw. All i want is a new album from them, they should call it 1024MB
Hey at least you got to see them. I would pay hundreds to see them play
Considering that California is one of the best album ever written, I’d not been disappointed I think
What's the first song..anyone???
+obscura films. The Thing Strikes. A cover from the 50s film It Came From Outer Space.
thanks!
Yes great technicals but not pleasant to ears. Sounded like a circus with a screaming little girl
It's great, isn't it?
What? Are you deaf? This is awesome
^Jans----go away Anthony Kiedis, you butthurt bitch!
Not pleasant to ears - but just your ears. Objectivity =/= Subjectivity.
