I had a Stirling shave today as well Ken. Glacial Lime soap and aftershave with a Stirling synthetic brush. For me all Stirling soaps are incredibly easy to lather.
It really is thirsty but I hear that's from the high Menthol content. A little bit of this soap and a good bit of water and this will lather up nicely on face. This one's smell reminds me too much of a throat lozenge. It is still in my cupboard. I fell in love with the glacial spearmint which they told me they were never going to make again about two years ago. I was on their mailing list if they were to make it again and it just popped up on their website with the aftershave and bar of soap as well. It's pleasantly cool, but when you get to the bottom of the puck where the menthol crystals settled, it's about as cold as my Chiseled Face Cryogenic soap is when you first use it. I can't wait to see how cold that one is once I get to the bottom of it.

Hey ken, I just got the lemon chill in the mail. Wow, very nice soap. Very pungent smell. It was a very refreshing shave. Nice and cold for a hot day. That stirling is great quality. I am new to wet shaving. I only have van der hagen and the lemon chill so far. I do have to say that the van der hagen is really mild and has a great smell. I will be buying more stirling soap. I think I wanna order the sandalwood. How did u like it?

Douglas and Matt said on one of the I Lather Be Shaving shows that shaving with a single edge is the closest thing to a straight razor, and it needs a bit of adjusting your technique. I'm not there yet since I love my DE razors so much. But is something worth to be aware of.
When you said the wife would say "what do you need that car for?", it reminded me of my brother's wife. He had a 1970 Datsun 240z Fairlady, and then he sold it when he got married. He also had a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe with mini-humbuckers, and even though he never admitted it I suspect the wife put him up to selling that, too.
I am a fan of Sterling products. Great stuff and all very reasonably priced. For the next shave, try to scrape some soap out of the tub and lather in a bowl. I'm sure you will get a much better lather.💈👍🏼
It's essentially unrelated Ken but given your movie memorabilia not sure if you heard that poster artist Bob Gold just passed away at age 97. He did the movie posters for a lot of Clint Eastwood's movies (I think all of the "Dirty Harry" films), and had started his career back at Warner Bros. in the 1940s...where his first assignment was "Casablanca"!

I too have a 1965 Mustang Not that pretty with the clear coat coming off but it still turns heads The motor is a beefed up 302 and sounds great I had to do some brake work about a year ago $600 +/- My Mustang is black and also a coup with a 4 speed I have owned it since 1987 Great shave Ken

Great shave. I'm looking into buying a Ford Mustang when I buy a new car in the future. The Ford Mustang should be cooler for me to drive and have in my garage. I'm also looking into buying a Stirling Lemon Chill as another addition to my soap wishlist
I love Stirling and I have never had any issues lathering. I do bloom my soaps and that may help. I have the v2 Blackhawk and that is really nice razor. I'm finding that the Feather Pro Super's work well in it for me. I have not tried the Kai Pinks yet, but I do like those blades in my Kamisori Shavette. Oh man, I'm a Mustang fan myself! I have 2014GT . My 1st was a 92 LX 5.0 Convertible. It got stolen though. I was so sad I loved that car.
I find that synthetics have issues holding water, probably why you needed to add so much for that Stirling. Now, I've not used that soap but I do own a synthetic from Parker and I always end up having to add water. On a side note: Ken you should get yourself an Alum bar for those weepers, clear's em right up.

Jill Snoddon I ordered some Eskimo Tuxedo soap yesterday. My first “glacial” soap from Stirling. I really like the Iced Pineapple products. It’s more of a candy pineapple than a fresh cut scent, but a great fragrance nonetheless. I have a tub of Black Cherry soap..non-mentholated. Stirling makes excellent products. I’m going to go broke buying all of their stuff.
Nice shave Ken! Haven’t tried the Stirling products but will in the near future. Love the Razorock Blackhawk v1 better than v2. (Own both). Both razors work greatly though. Cheers to good shaving!

I have 5 Sterling soaps and aftershave, they do need a bit more water then other companies. And i prefer using a badger or boar brush myself. Find they lather better then synthetic ones. Especially with soaps.
I love my Blackhawk, it's in my rotation. As far as your near fail with the lather... I've noticed that Stirling soaps are about the "most thirsty" shave soaps made. Just my opinion.

Idea: Can you make a shave comparing the Slim Adjustable with a Black Beauty? I've been using the Black Beauty nonstop from the past weeks, and I think I can feel the blade better than the Slim, at exactly the same setting, and that makes it for a superbly smooth shave. At least for me and my skin and stubble types. So, it'll be great if you can test them side by side, with all parameters fixed (setting, blade, soap, etc.) and shave half your face with the slim and half with the BB.
