- I head out for an overnight camp at a local location to try out some ham radio antennas , I threw in a bunch of ham radio equipment into the Land Rover and planned to wing it for a night.
The 6m Moxon need still needs tweaking to get the SWR down, the EFHW with counterpoise did a cracking job on 20m but not so good on 10m. The M1ECC antenna whip looks promising just needs a tuner to squeeze the SWR down on 10m. The Sirio 4000 should be a good addition to the mobile working.

Carl. I love this kind of video. Very inspiring. It’s even better that it was spontaneous and you had to do the best you could with what you had available. 73 from Tennessee. KK4PRV
A great training experience. I honestly believe that in a grid down situation , you would be ahead of 98% of us!
Another good learning experience, Carl, I always find very useful information in your videos, and always enjoy checking in on your adventures, always a learning experience, and your setups are quite impressive also! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Carl. Great video. Always fun and inspiring to watch your mini dxepiditions.
Very good, nice to see a good comparison between antennas.
Great video.
Even though you hadn't planned on doing radio, with that beautiful Land Rover, I wonder if having a inverter available full time as a CYA for charging purposes...a good backup since your vehicle alternator power plant is just sitting there...a great video, enjoyed watching!
What a bang up job Carl 💯👍🙋♂
Great video as always carl 😊great to see you out n about mate.looking forward to the next one:) 73
Great video, that fry-up looked soooo tasty 😋 Keep the videos coming, better than the rubbish on TV!
Fine Job! TNX for sharing! 73 from Brasil
I really enjoyed watching this video carl. for what it is worth, you were still able to play radio, cook some good food, little drinky after, good times I say.

Lindo video! Saludos Cordiales desde Argentina. 73
Nice set up Carl, try to have a dedicated batt charge station at home, and put everything on charge all the time, it works really well for radio, and house whole items. Keep em coming Carl.73.
A small handful is better than none at all Carl. I can’t wait to get upto Scotland soon and do some QRP myself on the G90
5:47 - That looks like the OneTigris tipi tent. I’ve pitched up next to one of those and they looked pretty good, albeit tiny next to my 10-man arctic military tent.
preparation lol :), nice setup though we have all forgotten something when we go out 705 sounds lovely
I forgot my mic. Luckily I was at Billenge Hill and it was just a short walk back to the car!
Great Video Carl, Hopefully, catch up with you next year at Tywyn. All the best Tony.
cheers Tony, I was packed, diesel filled up and ready to go, it's a great wild location to operate! Hopefully we will meet up in the Shropshire hills, I'll speak to John M0XJA and find out when you guys are next out.
@@M0SZT look forward to it chap👍
Very nice activation....🙂 73 DH1AC
Maybe a split charge system were you can remove a battery via anderson plugs/isolate the charger when not needed?
Buy a 100w solar panel & charge controller battery worries over then Carl.
Good video Carl. What's the new Tat of on your arm??
I've got a circuit type design on my right lower inner arm and a bigger one on my right shoulder, like cyborg 🤖
Get a DC to DC charger running off the Landy
That way your Battery will/can be charged easily
If this hobby was a young peoples hobby there is no way they'd be having any of this license buisness. Pirates would rule the waves within no time. Fight the power. Old hams won't even talk to you unless you've conformed (license)
One of your best videos to date. A lot of different things coming together for great content. Well done! de KD2KAK 73
