- Sweet Tooth follows the story of Bumblestripe and his feeling towards Dovewing, how he met her and the love he felt, until the end where he grew cold and bitter. This is mostly to show Bumblestripe's anger and how he went way too far with his crush on Dovewing, this isn't a shipping map, more of a rejection map if you will. Before I made this map, whenever I looked up "Bumblestripe map" all I really saw were spoof maps or the few uncommon serious Bumblestripe maps and I really wanted to show a different side to him. Most of the time he is painted as horrible and Dovewing was never interested but in reality she did enjoy his company at a time in her life and it ended poorly due to Bumblestripe taking it too far and Dovewing just being interested in Tigerheart more. I hope this map portrays my ideas correctly.

Ah im only kidding, well not about the feeling bad part. I think I'm kinda pushing my own struggles with Relationship normavity onto him.
How everyone around him told him she likes him, how they tell him she deserves him. How he watches the others tell her that she should and does have feelings for him. He's confused and feels pathetic at her rejection, after all, he's letting down his clanmates isn't he? He's been rejected from everything he's ever been told, how could he let that go so fast? He hates her for rejection, not just because he wants her, but because he wants to be what his clanmates wanted again.
Dovewing is also conflicted. Shouldn't she love him? She tried so many times to give him that chance but she doesn't feel the way she does when she's with tigerheart. She tried, but she can't live up to what her clanmates tell her. Why should she listen to them anyways? She's always been bossed around because the prophecy, she deserves to break the rules!
I may be analyzing too much, but I just feel bad for him, not that Dovewing rejected him, but because the situation he was forced into. It started out as a small crush for him, he had no idea it would turn out so horrible in the end. And dove just wanted to give him a chance, how would she have known how much his self worth relies on him being in that relationship?
Perhaps I'm just a strange aromantic person who doesn't understand relationships...

@@siqxyre8473 I think this is quite accurate as yes, sometimes he could be a bit pushy but I believe he did try to form a relationship with Dove'wing.. While I don't like her for different reasons I do think she deserves happiness and I do feel quite bad for him and her, because they were both kinda peer pressured in becoming mates and neither wanting to let their classmates down, as they gave in and became mates both trying their best to care for one another.. as I hope Bumble finds the same happiness and peace Dove'wing has found.

I love this! Bumblestripe has so much more to him then most people realize. I theorize that he sided with Ashfur so much in TBC because Dovewing and Tigerstar were codebreakers and he wanted them to be punished. But he then realizes they deserve no harm and is one of the first cats to suggest killing Ashfur in Darkness Within

@@animatorireenie8319 Have you read the part in A Vision of Shadows when he told Dovewing that having his kids would cheer her up WHILE SHE WAS MORNING THE DEATH OF HER FRIEND?!? That's one of the MANY problematic things with him but even then that one thing should give anyone red flags
@@JackdawMori9510 Nope, I haven't. Sorry. Also, I agree that he is problematic. I just feel like he was done this way to make Tigerheart look better and this thought annoys me. Don't worry, I understand now the problems with Bumble.
@@JackdawMori9510 I've yet to find that cited event. I assume that if it does exist that it is an exclusive scene from barnes and nobles because it's not there in shattered sky.

Ikr? I think the fandom made him too evil. He never felt like a creep to me, at some parts a bit too pushy perhaps. But tbh, it seemed like the clan was pressuring him into this. Luckily he didn't end up like Mapleshade.

yeah, poor ol' Bumblestripe... he's a character I definitely feel sorry for. not even pity though, y'know, I just feel sorry for him. in the books, they never tried to paint him like a bad guy, even through Dovewing's pov chapters.
he liked Dovewing, but he was too clingy, and definitely too pushy... the sad thing is, that was even brought up in the MAP and description, is that Dovewing did enjoy hanging out with him. she just only wanted to be friends, but Bumblestripe ruined that for himself too, by still being too pushy and persistent with her.
and, I mean, also telling half the people you live with about how much you love her and stuff will also make people have too high of expectations with trying to see a friend's almost-relationship reach fruition...........
But yet she decided to take in a clan cat from another clan (he so know lots of cats done that) but she should’ve at least think that when she took Tigerstar as her mate she was Risking her position or her jobs is at higher risk
He was infatuated. Friendship was never an option; it would be a painful reminder that she was out of his reach and the continuing of such a relationship is just going to have him hoping for opportunities to change her mind. Irrational ego and desire based feelings can be hard to dispell even if you correctly diagnose the problem that you have.
@@astralwyrm3787 Yeah, in a way, it's good that Dovewing switched clans. There were multiple reasons for it, and one of the good ones would actually be this. If she never left, he would always be there in the background, waiting for her to maybe finally settle for him. The problem of being like Bumblestripe, is the fact that at the end of the day, they still have to see each other. That's a part of the reason cats like Ashfur go haywire. They're unable to move on properly, because they're in too close quarters with the person they have to get over.
Reasons like that make me glad Dovewing switch to Shadowclan. She got to pursue happiness with the cat she loves, and Bumblestripe, although may miss her, can move on a lot better than if she were still there. It was good for both of them.
@@Kheluichollow dovewing can love whoever she wants - she doesn't need to sacrifice her own happiness for others. she isn't responsible for anyone else's happiness and she isn't at fault for not receiving bumblestripes feelings.

As somebody who isn't a fan of Bumblestripe, I think that this MAP turned out very well. Especially when it points out that Dovewing did in fact find comfort in him at one point in her life, and his whole crush on her wasn't always a big obsession. Let's not forget that a lot of cats did also try to force Dovewing into liking him, which probably drove her further from him. Though he did also try to pressure her into getting with him, other cats did too, so it wasn't 100% Bumble's fault.
I've also been seeing a bunch of "owa owa" in the comments, so I'm just gonna..

I adore this map- I have always loved Bumblestripe, and although I don't ship him with Dove, I think his story is very interesting and in my opinion, easy to sympathise with. I'm glad to see a map that doesn't just portray him as a monster- everyone has had a crush, and although Bumblestripe did take it too far, he didn't try to burn his crush's kits, just became bitter towards her. This map shows my bean isn't just an over-loving unsensitive weirdo.

3:06 was one of my favorite scenes in whichever book it was. So serene, peaceful, perfect, a welcome escape from the challenging life the cats face every day. Made me wanna join them so badly. And the part turned out wonderful (they all did) too 💞
I remember how uncomfortable I felt for Dovewing as bumble kept talking about having lots with her even though It was obvious that was a decision he made for himself and her. He did take it too far a lot of the time which I didn’t realize until now. Thank you for giving him More depth/ reminding us there’s different sides to the same story with your map - he deserves it.

@@JlMMOTHY It’s not that. I haven’t read the books in a good while but I’m pretty sure Bumblestripe never really asked how Dovewing truly felt towards him. He would sort of guilt trip her when it came to expressing himself. A clanmate dies and Bumblestripe decides it’s a good idea to bring up the topic of having kits and giving him a real chance because Purdy died like bruh...
You gotta let someone breathe and grieve.

@@JlMMOTHY Bumble constantly, constantly, pushed dovewing into becoming mates with him. Immediately after purdy, her *friend* died, he literally said *”LETS HAVE KITS”* and assumed he was entitled to Dovewing having a relationship with him.

This was an awesome experience! I didn't even know I remembered that scene where bumblestripe is a little bossy with dovewing at the tree, and brambleclaw's reaction to their squirmish was gold! XD

The scene at 3:06 has always been one of my favorite book scenes. It’s just too sweet for me to dislike bumblestripe, I don’t think I’ve ever understood why people do.

@@mewkychu4348 Bumblestripe is a bad character and he tells Dovewing to cheer up to have his babies, he also knows Dovewing doesn’t like him but continues to try and make her like him. Also one time he asked her to be his mate he wandered off so she couldn’t say no. And when she apologized then Bumblestripe replied by scolding her. Everyone pressured Dovewing into liking him even though she doesn’t. If you go to Moonkitti’s channel she explains it perfectly

@@BitterCyder no matter really how you put it Bumblestripe isn't a good character. If your pressured into liking someone and they don't like you just give up. There is such a low chance of someone who is forced to like someone ends up liking them
