No true hypersonic cruise missile exists. aeroballistic and hypersonic glide vehicles exist. They do have some traits of hypersonic missiles. Kinzhal flies at a flat 50 km altitude which has a thin atmosphere then dives near the target to retain its speed through dense atmosphere. True hypersonic cruise missile would need an air breathing SCRAMJET engine and maneuvering. flying hypersonic in the atmosphere means radars won't see. speed and maneuvering means not enough time to react as well as unpredictable path. I think they have to slow down near target for electromagnetic devices to work.

No true hypersonic cruise missile exists. aeroballistic and hypersonic glide vehicles exist. They do have some traits of hypersonic missiles. Kinzhal flies at a flat 50 km altitude which has a thin atmosphere then dives near the target to retain its speed through dense atmosphere.
True hypersonic cruise missile would need an air breathing SCRAMJET engine and maneuvering. flying hypersonic in the atmosphere means radars won't see. speed and maneuvering means not enough time to react as well as unpredictable path.
I think they have to slow down near target for electromagnetic devices to work.
@@agnelomascarenhas8990 i'm not sure if you're russian, or anti russian, and no disrespect, but iranian version works completely different. nosecone breathes the engine, using ins like arh. regardless of orbit position or speed, the active homing uses a radar as guidance signal. electronics in the missile keep the radar pointed directly at the target, missile then looks at this "angle" of its own centerline to guide itself. if detecting any objects, then the ins or arh would simply change the angle and readjust. iran chose the liquid quenchant injection for blackout mitigation but other methods could resolve the issue as well

INS - Inertial Navigation System. ARH - Active Radar Homing. the Navigation and Homing part are clear. Popular Mechanics says solid fuel motor, while spherical reaction chamber I think implies liquid fuel and oxidizer. This is still a ballistic missile.
Hypersonic cruise missile requires supersonic combustion as in a SCRAMJET. It would fly in the upper atmosphere breathing air and *power the missile continuously during cruise*. It can also maneuver throughout its flight. These are still in development.

Hypersonic is an overused term, every ICBM travels at hypersonic Speed so the concept is nothing new.
The missiles that hit were clearly not hypersonic. They came in at subsonic speeds. You can measure it easily from the vids. No country has HS missiles in active inventory.
