Sigha was the speaker of the Punjab Assembly. Harchandrai the President of Karachi Municipal Corporation brought electricity to Karachi in 1913. That is the reason why Karachi was called the ‘city of lights’.
Jamshed Nusserwanjee played a very important role in the separation of Sindh from the Bombay Presidency as mentioned by G. M Syed in his book. He was the architect of Mama Parsee School. Jamshed Nusserwanjee was very keen to help expecting mothers resolve their maternal mortality and related health issues. He established Gulbai Maternity Home to address the problem of maternal mortality. His daily prayer was “ Oh God, make me useful, Oh God, keep me harmless, Oh God, keep me pure, Oh God, keep me your Channel"
He said Ali Muhammad Rashidi has written an episode of how Jamshed Nusserwanjee dealt with a situation when he saw an injured donkey. Jamshed walked with a donkey to a veterinary hospital, while his driver followed him in his motor car. Ali Muhammad Rashidi followed Jamshed to the Vetirinery Hospital. He saw Jamshed observed the treatment of of the donkey by the Vet. Jamshed would repeatedly tell the doctor to be cautious and not to cause the creature any pain. When the poor donkey’s wounds had been bandaged, Jamshed told the vet that he animal be kept under care until it recovers completely, and instructed the donkey’s owner not to drag the poor, wounded creature to work. He paid the donkey owner the wages until the donkey was fit for work again.
