Brilliant .. yeah the inside of pots are a mystery to many, I am also a guitar tech (since the 80's) and have opened and cleaned 100's of rotary pots on guitars and guitar amps (where there are many). I use a small set of cheap "long reach" sockets for getting to those pot nuts. Along with cleaning the conductive track I also put a small piece of VERY fine grit (2500) abrasive paper under the wipers and run them over it just once (to clean any oxidisation), then re-lube the pot shaft if that's possible, it usually is on quality pots like CTS brand (making sure to get NONE on the conductive track) with camera lense thread damping grease. Additional tips for anybody interested: ... over the years I've settled on two brands for replacement: Alpha (got to be the Taiwanese manufacturer though) with the back plastic dust covers for budget conscious and CTS (which are fully servicable & last for ever) if money doesn't matter. Also be VERY careful with & DO NOT try to bend the wiper "fingers" inside pots they will never go back into the original position ... 😀
awesome fault finding techniques :) hopefully you will post the video when the batteries arrive and we can see the finished product :) if not on its own video :) just an updated video would work :)
@ 29:39 I have used a match trimmed down to a point & placed a very small amount of;... 3 in 1 oil either side of the wiper in contact with the carbon track;... then work that in... This will eliminate any crackling out of the speakers...
Congratulations on a very varied channel ... one day diagnosing GPU memory chips, another day dismantling pots. Bravo. 👍😀👍 Sounds like your island might be a good hideaway when the ballon goes up. Are you sure it is self sufficient once the boat and planes stop?
Yeah you can google that (best places to survive an apocalypse and Gran Canaria comes up). We have solar, hydroelectric and wind power and are fairly sparsely populated (865K people in a similar area to Greater London - Gran Canaria would fit nicely in the M25 circle). Also there are thousands of miles of Atlantic to the West (west from here is Miami) and 150 miles of Atlantic then thousands of miles of Sahara desert to east - probably the next area of major population on a similar latitude to the east is New Delhii but that's the other side of the world basically
Buenas noches yo también tengo el mismo radio muy escaso no se ve información de el y en otros lados aparece con otra marca yo mismo lo restaure . Batería dinamo desde Colombia
Did I see that correctly ... a potentiometer with a carbon track and a metal slider ? Can't remember last time seeing one of those ... neither the aiwa brand.

Thanks a lot for presenting repair techniques of various equipment.

Great stuff. I've got to get one of those electric solder suckers.
😂 That is a Handy Little Gizmo, nice video

I use Red or Silver Nail Varnish to do the same thing...

Yep you did 😁
Still totally "run of the mill" in a lot of music electronics 😀
I remember the aiwa brand in the 1990s.i had a few of their auto reverse portable cassettes and mini disc players through the years.
I would make the fun by building in a Bluetooth unit. No body would expect that old thing to be doing that
