I was raised in charismatic, extra biblical, false teaching, and even became a teacher. I remember buying 2 Walter Martin books and it began a work that led me to biblical doctrine and proper understanding. I thank God for this man.

Forgot how much I loved listening to this man, Walter Martin, when I was a brand new Christian. He seriously formed my view of what the bible actually taught. We need a thousand men like him right now in this insane Christian falsehood we're seeing today.
Maybe he didn't think but I think he hoped so. I think he was a humble man but I think 100/0 to that with his hope that his words would last longer than 30 years.

I had the privilege of taking a couple of college classes taught by Dr Martin. He was a firecracker for God. I am confident that when he met the Lord Jesus, that Jesus said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
I used to listen to him faithfully on the Radio back in the 80's. He was an intense Christian who loved truth. He passed away a week before my father did.
I am blessed to have attended many of his Bible studies at Melodyland Church in Anaheim, CA. ❤ My husband and I were listeners of the Bible Answer Man, too❣️
I'm relatively young and I love listening to these preachers/teachers! 🙂 There's still hope and people who love the truth. If a person is truly seeking, they'll find. I found these preachers in my late 20s.
Outstanding interview! Dr Martin was a great man and contender of the faith. Don't know who the guy interviewing Dr. Martin was, but you could tell by his body language that he was ready for this interview to be over. He did not enjoy the interview because Dr Martin was stepping on too many toes of sacred cows.

The argument with that is when Jesus said today, he did not go to paradise that day since He rose on the 3rd day. So the context is: Today, I say to you, you will be with me in paradise.
The interviewer was sooo uncomfortable - sitting there often with his arms tightly folded across his chest - awkwardly missing Martin's points - and desperately trying to make sure that his status with TBN remained secure.

His comments about Kenneth Copeland really hit home for me. I have questioned this very teaching about Jesus and debated it with family members who adamantly follow Copeland, et al. My own church, whom I love dearly, teaches a version of it also. Something just always felt really "wrong" with what was being taught but I could never really explain it adequately. When I tried, I was told that it was just the devil trying to make me doubt and leading me astray. Thank God for men of God like Dr. Martin who are not afraid to proclaim the Truth based on the Word. I watched this live on a Friday evening in 1981/82/83 (?). I remember thinking we will never see Walter Martin on TBN again. What a brave uncompromising man.
Wow. I'm thankful for Walter Martin. My parents really appreciated all he did, but I never really saw much of him or read his material. This is helpful stuff.
Jack Van Impe was also pulled from TBN, when he railed on (so-called) preachers of the gospel who either never mention the blood of Christ, or diminish from it. We're in perilous times, and being lukewarm is the order of the day. No contrast, no accounting, no controversy.
I love hearing Brother Martin, i was raised by Men who were Called by God, they didnt call themselves to be Preachers! Go by the book, the whole book, and nothing but the book! Test everything in life and all spirits by that Book! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Blessed living Gift that is the single greatest Gift we have ever been given by far! We are suppose to call out wickedness among our brethren! If we dont and they face judgement for that wickedness we will face the same because we knew of their wickedness and kept quiet!

How eye opening this video is. For one it shows that at one time TBN was willing to have an apologist who refutes the Word of Faith movement long before it became the bastardized movement that it is now. I can also see why they no longer invite men like John MacArthur, or R C Sproul or Voddie Bauchman to speak on their network. It also makes me wonder what it was that made the Crouch's change their theology to such heresy. I can only surmise that money is the key to it all. TBN makes a fortune with their "praise - a - thon " every quarter and men like Copeland and Hinn and Dollar, etc desire to gain " filthy lucre " and preach lies in order to manipulate people for the cause of Satan. I do agree that these opinions need to be addressed and names need to be named, it is sad though that dialogue with heretics usually wind up being totally unfruitful and soon melt into shouting matches filled with anger and hatred sometimes on both sides. As Christians we have to stand firm on the truth of Gods Word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in love. As far as I'm concerned it is the only way to victory in this evil world.

Walter Martin is an excellent apologist and it is obvious he discusses these things in love. The church body has gone so far from truth, I appreciate Christians like him
If you watch the whole thing, he doesn't get kicked off. In fact he thanks Paul and Jan for having him on. The moderator - don't recognize him - was also pretty gracious through the whole thing. Now I suppose he was never asked on again, but taken in itself it was very well done on both sides. Definitely not a fan of TBN or the Crouch's, but just waited to be fair that the title of the video may not be as accurate as it suggests. Yes, Copeland and Crouch spout heresy at the end, but Martin got a full uninterrupted hour.
Gregory Johnston seems like censorship happens a lot more recently with newer leadership at TBN. Hal Lindsey and Jack Van Impe specifically adresses TBN it outright.

This was a very intelligent godly man. This is exactly what they are preaching today. I heard one pastor say "I am god", I felt like I was the only one in church that was shocked by that statement, because I knew in my spirit that was wrong. And all these ministers he mention are on TBN today preaching, and nobody corrects them. Thank you for posting this video.
Saying that Walter Martin was kicked off in the headlines in a bit misleading. He was not kicked off - just not invited back again. I have not been invited to speak on TBN but I wasn't kicked off - just not invited. The host was also never brought back on again. The fact that the episode did not re-air is probably the biggest indictment against TBN for a case of censorship. Christians need to be totally transparent and to allow dissenting voices to be heard. Truth is tough - it will survive the kicking of tires. It does not do well in a bubble where it can never be proven or disproven.
Don Parker recently Jack Van Impe and Hal Lindsey spoke out about censorship at TBN and losing their spot on the network. Just in the past 12 months 2016-17. And this show was taped in the 80's. Before the PTL Club scandal.

I think what you’re seeing is issues with the video tape and the tome base corrector freezing up from time to time. If anything only a second or two gets lost.
My husband has a lot of his Walter Martin's tapes. All of them are excellent. We do need to pray for someone to stand in the gap in this area of teaching for this and the next generation. It is so needed. Jude 3 is what he quoted in the Bible. Let us all contend for the faith where God put us and remain faithful. That is what God wants us to do!

Grace Lee I watched John MacCarthur preach in front of his congregation mocking the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues. He literally led his 'flock' into laughing on camera about this. I realized at that moment that he was in error and I never watched him again.
I started studying apologetics because of the late Dr.Walter Martin. I thank God to this day I read and heard his teachings on false Christianity and cults. So when JWs or Mormons are on my doorstep will give them the Word of God lovingly and intelligently.
I was Blessed to know Dr Walter Martin as he taught at MelodyLand I was a child at the time, He was such a gem, and is so missed, would love to hear what he would say about today.
I was raised in charismatic, extra biblical, false teaching, and even became a teacher. I remember buying 2 Walter Martin books and it began a work that led me to biblical doctrine and proper understanding. I thank God for this man.

Outstanding interview! Dr Martin was a great man and contender of the faith. Don't know who the guy interviewing Dr. Martin was, but you could tell by his body language that he was ready for this interview to be over. He did not enjoy the interview because Dr Martin was stepping on too many toes of sacred cows.

His comments about Kenneth Copeland really hit home for me. I have questioned this very teaching about Jesus and debated it with family members who adamantly follow Copeland, et al. My own church, whom I love dearly, teaches a version of it also. Something just always felt really "wrong" with what was being taught but I could never really explain it adequately. When I tried, I was told that it was just the devil trying to make me doubt and leading me astray. Thank God for men of God like Dr. Martin who are not afraid to proclaim the Truth based on the Word. Dr. Martin was one brave man and did not hold back any punches. He was not a careful man. He was a FAITHFUL man when it came to the truth.
This man spoke the simple TRUTH.
How eye opening this video is. For one it shows that at one time TBN was willing to have an apologist who refutes the Word of Faith movement long before it became the bastardized movement that it is now. I can also see why they no longer invite men like John MacArthur, or R C Sproul or Voddie Bauchman to speak on their network. It also makes me wonder what it was that made the Crouch's change their theology to such heresy. I can only surmise that money is the key to it all. TBN makes a fortune with their "praise - a - thon " every quarter and men like Copeland and Hinn and Dollar, etc desire to gain " filthy lucre " and preach lies in order to manipulate people for the cause of Satan.
I do agree that these opinions need to be addressed and names need to be named, it is sad though that dialogue with heretics usually wind up being totally unfruitful and soon melt into shouting matches filled with anger and hatred sometimes on both sides. As Christians we have to stand firm on the truth of Gods Word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in love. As far as I'm concerned it is the only way to victory in this evil world.

Jesus Christ was & is the Only direct representative of God The Father. The office of the pope is not an office established by God but of satan. A human being can never forgive sins, only God can forgive sins, we have no obligation to confess our sins to anyone who is not God since He is the only one who has the power & authority to forgive sins! Those who do not repent of there sins and turn to Christ will unfortunately of there own choice go to hell! and not Purgatory, Purgatory is a lie from satan. You can never pay for what you've done against God (when we sin we sin against God) Jesus was and will forever be the all sufficient Savior. When Jesus said it is finished He meant it is finished! All who have repented of there sins and turned to Christ are immediately adopted by God and are then His Children. They become the Saints of God. All of the children of God are saints, declared by God Himself and not by man. God has already set the criteria to become a Saint. Jesus Christ was and is greater than Abraham and all if the OT prophets because He was before them. He existed before them as God. The Logos has existed forever in perfect union with The Father and The Holy Spirit, Mary was indeed a blessed woman favored by God by she was just a human being whom Jesus also died for. She was a sinner who needed her sins forgiven, she needed a savior. Catholicism is of the devil and not of God.

This is still happening decades later. People hate truth.
If you watch the whole thing, he doesn't get kicked off. In fact he thanks Paul and Jan for having him on. The moderator - don't recognize him - was also pretty gracious through the whole thing. Now I suppose he was never asked on again, but taken in itself it was very well done on both sides. Definitely not a fan of TBN or the Crouch's, but just waited to be fair that the title of the video may not be as accurate as it suggests. Yes, Copeland and Crouch spout heresy at the end, but Martin got a full uninterrupted hour.
Gregory Johnston seems like censorship happens a lot more recently with newer leadership at TBN. Hal Lindsey and Jack Van Impe specifically adresses TBN it outright.

This was a very intelligent godly man. This is exactly what they are preaching today. I heard one pastor say "I am god", I felt like I was the only one in church that was shocked by that statement, because I knew in my spirit that was wrong. Saying that Walter Martin was kicked off in the headlines in a bit misleading. He was not kicked off - just not invited back again. I have not been invited to speak on TBN but I wasn't kicked off - just not invited. The host was also never brought back on again. The fact that the episode did not re-air is probably the biggest indictment against TBN for a case of censorship. Christians need to be totally transparent and to allow dissenting voices to be heard. Truth is tough - it will survive the kicking of tires. It does not do well in a bubble where it can never be proven or disproven.
Don Parker recently Jack Van Impe and Hal Lindsey spoke out about censorship at TBN and losing their spot on the network. Just in the past 12 months 2016-17. And this show was taped in the 80's. Before the PTL Club scandal.

Grace Lee I watched John MacCarthur preach in front of his congregation mocking the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues. He literally led his 'flock' into laughing on camera about this. I realized at that moment that he was in error and I never watched him again.

I started studying apologetics because of the late Dr.Walter Martin.
I thank God to this day I read and heard his teachings on false Christianity and cults.
So when JWs or Mormons are on my doorstep will give them the Word of God lovingly and intelligently.
I was Blessed to know Dr Walter Martin as he taught at MelodyLand I was a child at the time, He was such a gem, and is so missed, would love to hear what he would say about today.
