My Yamunotri Dham Yatra was thrilling. Yamunotri Trek (starting from Janki Chatti) to Yamunotri temple, there came a moment when I couldn't find a single devotee. Yamunotri Dham is among four dham of Uttarakhand. Traditionally devotees used to start their 4 dham yatra from Yamunotri only.
Yamunotri is the starting point of the Yamuna River, one of the major rivers in India, and it is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. The main attraction of the Yamunotri Yatra is the Yamunotri Temple, which is located in the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple itself is a simple yet spiritually significant structure made of wood and stone. The main deity, Goddess Yamuna, is represented as a black marble idol. The hot springs of Surya Kund and Gauri Kund, located near the temple, are also visited by pilgrims, and it is believed that taking a dip in these hot springs can cleanse one's sins.
I went to Yamunotri Dham in peak monsoon which had both positive and negative aspect. Where one side I stranded for 3 days in Yamunotri Valley & had to trek for 30 kms, on the other hand the yatra was so peaceful and entire trek was full of beautiful water streams.
