I gradually became a fan of Canelo after the Mayweather fight. I had thought it was too soon for him, but I was impressed by him even in a loss. But after that fight, I saw the hard work and improvement in his fights, and really admire his willingness to take on all challenges. He is a great champion.

In the first fight he was more allusive and was using way more movement, made Gennady missed more than 65% of his shots but he didn’t emphasized on offense and that’s why Gennady edged it. Also people were saying he was running, so in the second he came forward and that’s why he won the second. He outworked Gennady with the body shots and that became his style from that point on. Against Kovalev he was fighting on eco mode trying to get that KO, against BJS, Smith and Plant he did the same thing; walking forward with a high guard pressuring and that’s what got him beaten against Bivol.
Canelo is more than a boxer. He is a great man.
