He said "You finaly get some Education... charateristic for americans" But dont mention it. Im shure he dont know every every important place in U.S. (for example Little Round Top). The Wartburg has an important place in German History not only by that Opera) Greez from Germany (visit out beautifull county :D)
To our American friends: This is a greeat performance. Tradition does not mean that a creative spirit is missing. It is a magnicient combination of music, location and action. See for example the difference in gaits of the entering nobility. Dear Americans, why not come to Europe: See Bonn (Beethoven's birthplace) - Dresden (where Wagner was director of the opera) - Bayreuth -Neuschwanstein and finally, why not make a short trip to Salzbur/Austria to enjoy the spirit of your so beloved THE SOUND OF MUSIC
@Erwin78609 how could beethoven be the best german composer when he was only part german? would you say jimi hendrix is the best native american guitarplayer because i was part cherokee?
@ GregOpera What you describe happens here in the US also. I'd have more respect for other versions if I could see evidence of the skill required to handle the traditional versions. Instead they settle for self-indulgent & amateurish modern interpretations that are insipid at best. Traditional interpretations of all art (and ethics, for that matter) are revered because they've been refined with respect & humility over many years to become sparkling examples of the creator's true genius.

German triumph. my Germans most underated people in the world.most rational smart people in the world.
It is sad to see how they have suppressed that Germanic spirit today. The truth will triumph one day my friend.

Darn near perfect ! but the clip begins late and ends early - like a good party guest ?

What a glorious noise!
UP WITH RICHARD WAGNER !
why by 90% of the orchestras the timpani plays /16 instead of /32??? I dont understand the reason.
"SALVE, Ó BRILHANTE MORADA!"
@YourDad25
Wrong! The greatest german composer was Ludwig van Beethoven
and he was half a dutch.
Is Eva Marton on this recording?

Well said. I couldn't agree more.
