Another great video Rob and a good example of when an owner with no knowledge is far worse (and more expensive) than having a bit of knowledge - looking forward to the next episode😎

Had an engine rebuilt many years ago by local bike garage who talked the talk. Took around 6 months before i fitted it and found out that the engine was lethal. Long list of issues but main one was rear hub bearing was so loose it could be pulled by finger pressure alone and leaked oil all overthe brakes. No circlips in piston was also a eye opener.

I had the same with a guy from Wolfspeed, absolute screwed up my engine, I started it again myself, had the same with my wheel bearing leaking, sorted it, band now it's an RT195, Li150 gearbox, drive ratio 4:90, Avanti ST, and I'm still on it, best to learn and do it yourself.

    Welcome back, we missed you.
An engine with unknown history is always going to have some issues but whoever built that shouldn’t be allowed to touch a spanner again.
Not changing the layshaft is playing Russian roulette, it’s when it fails not if, so the owner needs to think what price he puts on his life.
It’s been a hot summer here in Spain, we are having a ride out on Sunday with an early start to avoid the worst of the heat.

New bearings, seals, maybe rebuild the crank with new big end bearing and rod? Typing as I watch..... holy crap, using normal engine circlips for piston circlips?! Damage reminds me of when the big end bearing went in my TS1 230 years ago.

I've now had three Mazzi bell cranks fail in Vespas in a similar manner to that one. The crank webs separated, then the big end bearing fails. In one instance, it destroyed the top end when the bearings turned into shrapnel. Mine were pretty highly tuned motors, but Mazzuchelli definitely need to have a word with their QA department.
Maybe they're still adequate for stock or very mildly tuned builds, but otherwise I'm now a Hard Pass. If you run a Mazzi crank, either weld the pin or get ready for get ready for the pin to separate on you.
And your three favorite Lammy channels are also favorites of mine. 😀

I read an article a long time ago about a guy that was running a Scott Squirrel and was getting accelerated engine wear using full synthetic oil. He tore the engine apart and there was zero oil film on the internals if he left the bike without being run even for short periods. He changed to mineral synthetic mix and the wear problems went away. What he described looks like what you are experiencing.

Can you just change this and do nothing else please.
Then you find all the other issues and you have to tell them.
    Will they pay?
Will you get something you're self for all the extra work?
And you don't even know them .😒

The timing set to 17° BTDC after 195 conversion BGM kit?

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  2 месяца назад

Yes. You have not set the timing at 17 degrees! If it's too close to top dead centre the motor can run backwards. Check the Woodruff key too.
