Rob, why have you got such a funny accent?
Hi guys, I get this all the time 😀. I was born in Manchester and moved to Blackburn when I was 3 years old. Blackburn accent is quite strong. Joined the army when I was 15 and shared a room with 2 jocks from Glasgow and a couple of lads from Sunderland. We spent the first 4 weeks nodding at each other. We simply couldn't understand each other! I was stationed in Germany and Norway. When I left the Army after 6 years I moved to Norway mostly because I raced mountain bikes. Met a girl and stayed. My RUclips channel was started in 2015 as a half hearted mountain bike channel. Last year I built my son a lambretta and decided to delete all the vids except for the scooter/classic mc videos. I got many requests for new videos and here I am today.

#kickbackgarage Question's and Answers
That SIP cylinder kit is beautifully manufactured.
Just ride the TS-1 Rob. I do all the Euro Lambrettas from Finland on a TS-1. I can cope with most failures and carry multiple spares including a spare piston but if it gets as bad as a seal failure then I accept I cannot fix it on the side of the road. These rides are all over 1500km and I’ll be doing Trondheim from Finland with the same spares package and acceptance of failure. You don’t need an engine change. In my spares here I keep lots of small odds and sods as everything has to come from Germany. But anything major is also available within a week or so. But what is not is a TS-1 cylinder and piston so I bought a spare from MB with a piston and had it replated and ready to go. A TS-1 can be reliable as many modern solutions. This sits on my shelf of spares.
I have two bikes with VAPE ignitions and I have found them excellent. Ones a Yamaha RD400 and the other is a Zundapp DB200 from 1939.
Nice one mate, good to see you diving into a Vespa!
Vespa is where it started for me 😎
Sell the KTM before they go bust and you can't get parts for it
Apparently it won't affect husquarna, so parts isn't a problem. I see Piaggio has also over stock after the boom during COVID and has stopped production
If you move somewhere cold, you can't complain about how cold it is 😂
Ahh, but that is the thing. I live in southern Norway where it isn't actually that cold (normally)
@kickbackgarage where did you live before Norway?
Born in the UK, served 7 years in the army before I moved here
@@kickbackgarage it's 7° in Bradford right now " feels like 5 ' that's probably tropical to Norway 😁
@cm-oo1td it's 10c here today. Have fun with your northern drizzle 😁
Super video again 👍 Looking forward to your final decision on fast touring engine dilemma and keeping my fingers crossed its an RB24 or stroked Monza. Can an SS225 on 64mm stroke give (SS250) the mid range torque you’re after and work with the Nordspeed ?
That's also something I am thinking about. A partial build ss250 from Rimini costs 3000 euro and I already have the rest. I think the norspeed could do really well with that and I got 32hp on my ss240. That is a fun motor and it it goes pear shaped, I can use that set up on loads of other options down the line. My dilemma is that with this new sst SSR bfs kits your engine block is only useable with one kit... Sleepless nights for me at the mo
Good to see ya Rob.
Am I right in saying Rob that really the only kit you can buy for a Vespa is a Malossi there as there seems to be a plethora of kits for lammys,I’ve had a Vespa back in the mid 80s,90cc one unfortunately it wasn’t the very rare and very expensive to buy super sprint with the fuel tank just in front of the seat and between your legs, never had it long as I preferred lambrettas I think a bit like yourself, nevertheless what ever ye do I enjoy watching your vlogs Love and peace from Ireland
There are loads of kits now for vespas. Especially large Frame 3 port and small frame motors.
Another great one mate! I can feel the freezing cold coming through the screen, thankfully our dowstairs neighbours helps the temp in the Oslo to a nice 13c deg 🥳. Thanks for hooking me up with Scott, such a talented and nice guy! Looking forward to ride with you next season again buddy!! 🛵🙏
Great to see you back and excited as a Christmas Gnome Rob hahaha 👍🏻
Hey Rob, Very cool modification! Do you know of anyone that makes these arms? MB only makes the full shaft/arm as one piece.
No. Have s go at making it yourself 😎
@ Thanks. Love your videos.
Can not beat that feeling of the sun shining again and knowing its only going to get lighter nights, meeting the lads again knowing adventure is round the corner roll on spring
I see Casa now make an LED headlight with glass lens. I’m surprised they don’t send you stuff like that to review, I have bought many items based on your reviews and recommendations.
It isn't casa who make them and I run ac on my scooters. Dc is needed on led lights. The reason why the channel is quieter than normal is due to lack of funds. Scooter center has sent me a couple of Items, chiselspeed has too but that doesn't keep in content. It ha just got too expensive for me to buy new stuff all the time.
Great vid - am doing mine this weekend so super useful.
Si può montare in una 150originale
no , nel 150 puoi montare lo stesso ma cilindrata 195
What are your thougts on the AF rayspeed vs the cyclone?
I have no Idea because I have never tried the AF. This is something I would like to do something about this winter if my economy says I can
Request,Have you ever thought of fitting a Stop My Engine kit.I need to know where 3 of the wires go,..cheers
I love your warts and all approach.
Is the pedal a flat pedal?
No. Spd
Why not powder coat the chassis?
Because its shit, needs more prep and chips easier. Plus the fact that there isn't anyone close that does powder coat
Very informative, this video of yours. Regarding the flywheel puller. One side is for Lambretta and the other half is for Vespa.
Hi Rob what is the main cause of fuel spiting out of the dellorto carb with no filter at high speeds😊😊
Very nice Rob, looking forward to seeing this build 👌🏼
Rob, when my RT195 had a standard clutch, it didn't take long to start slipping. It now has a clutch made from a Suzuki RM125, which only cost £100 in parts. It took a bit of work to make it fit a standard case, as the original RM clutch was 7 plate, so it had to be trimmed down to take 5 plates.
Despite your warning I bought one… Belived I could fix the inner race to fit, and with some mods I probably would. But my problem is that the bigger cup for the lower bearing doesn’t fit in the frame. It is like 6mm of play… Or have I missed something?
That sounds like a frame issue 6mm is a lot. Mine sat tight like an original. 🤷
@ Sorry, got a bit to exited there… The frame stem is 42mm in diameter and the sip cup is 40mm. So still a gap of 2mm.
What Beautiful Roads you ride along Rob, the S2 goes well enough I reckon. Although it would be nice to watch a Sledgehammer being fitted and used. Expensive change though, so keep the KTM. Best Regards
The scary part about these super engines is that they are cylinder and case specific. Imo
Thoughts on maybe doing a video on elevation climbs and vaper lock as you mentioned next year's national rally has a few hills to climb!
There are mountains on every national rally. We have over 160,000 mountains here 😂
A vespa??? eeeeeeeewwwww Might need to drag out my Series 3 and ride to lunch tomorrow.. Still super nice in this part of the US
It is spelt Vethpa btw 😉
Great video rob 😊
Thanks!
How much to buy one of these?
10000 euro, just for the engine.
Great vid as usual Rob, looked a nice ride out, that S2 goes so well mate & fantastic scenery. Have a safe winter, but i'm sure you will be out a few more times for a sneaky ride 😉😉
Not much use for that 5th gear Rob. Lovely roads.
👌
For a GL, you're going to be limited by the two port motor, so not a lot of options for the top end. Pinasco make a two port 177 that I had on a VBB for a long time and it's a decent kit. You can run it with up to a 20/20 carb. It can't pull enough air to justify a 24/24, though. For the ignition, the best option hands down (IMO) is the SIP Vape, which they started producing for small cone cranks like the GL has a couple years ago. Alternately, Mazzucelli make a large cone 60mm crank that will fit the GL, but let you use P-series ignitions. Either way, the Vape will do right by you. The best option would be to track down some three port cases and build the motor on that. Also, the GL's center stand interferes with the SIP & BGM "big box" exhausts, so look at the Polini Box for low-to-mid-range power, or maybe the Malossi box, which will give him more top end rev's and extend 1st through 3rd gears, but he might not be able to generate enough power to push it down the road at speed. Having recently done my first Lambretta build after twenty years of vintage Vespa's, I know how it feels to suddenly have a whole load of different parts and considerations than you're used to. The actual wrenching, as I'm sure you're aware, is really not much different. For me, I found learning my way around the Lammy motor no more challenging than when I first started building smallframes after years of largeframe Vespas.
Thanks! And thanks for the heads up on the stand issue.
Oh, my first engine rebuild tune, was a sprint veloce and done quite a few PX motors. It's the small taper, 2 port bit which I don't want to crop me up.
@@kickbackgarage you could potentially fiddle it with a different spring (it wants that big fat one), but I never found one that worked "right," but why bother since the exhaust isn't going to be what holds this motor back.
Never pulled the clutch lever IN on my lambretta to go 2-3-4th. You seem to do it for every gear change 🤷🏻♂️😂
You don't need to use the clutch on any motorcycle but it is highly recommended if you don't want to brake the gearbox.
Nice post Rob, I enjoyed that one mate..
Another great video! Agree on the Monza, a great "standard bolt on" IMO. The trip can be done in about 13.5 hrs mate, still off the motorway, but not as epic... Lets see if we can meet up along the way! 🛵💨💨
What engine should I built for the 2000km ride to Trondheim for next years national rally?
Sledgehammer 333 ;-)
Have you had any more thoughts about your engine, Monza 230 ? RB240 ?
@RichieBx52 yes, those are 2 of my thoughts 🙃 Monza is cheaper that an RB because I wouldn't need to buy an extra head and exhaust...but I'm still thinking
Yay, great viewing Kickback Garage 👍
Hay Rob you said write a Comment it helps the algorithm. So Comment.lol. Thanks for the input you do on your channel. Lot of inspiration in them. I'd stepped away for a few yr from scooters.
Great video as always Rob, sorry the season has come to an end,I was at Bridlington rally last week so that will probably be it until Easter 2025 at Scarborough
I reckon a sledgehammer in the series one would be nice. Casa should give you one to test . Those look like great roads for scooters 👍
Hi Rob I own a 150 Indian gp which cylinder kit would you recommend my mechanic fits to this I am not fussed about all out speed I want good reliability thanks
Rt195 all day long...
@kickbackgarage thanks Rob gone with your recommendation
Taper roller headset bearings.
Buongiorno rob from Italy 🇮🇹,,great video as always, will that simple wiring loom work on 6volt original system and have you a link to get the right one 😀, keep up the good work, grazie mille.
Thank you. Lots of working loom info in stickies book, and that is also in Italian 😎

No season here. We ride all year. Unfortunately, yesterday's ride, there were only two of us. The rest were vespa
I think I would miss winter and the massive buzz meeting up with the boys in spring again 😎
What a cracking scooter, love it
Nice ride out beautiful country 😎
