    BEAUTIFUL! The ZT 0004 went immediately onto my "To-Buy List". Very cool looking knife, and I'm so glad ZT went with a premium, USA-Made leather sheath! CPM Cru-Wear is a great steel and the 0004 is a very functional blade shape. Best part . . . ZT QUALITY! I already bought the ZT 0006 and absolutely love it, but the 0004 size will be an easier "belt knife" to carry around town. Note: I'm a huge ZT Fan and primarily only buy Knives that are "Made in the USA". I have several ZT folders, but I'm REALLY HOPING AND WAITING for ZT to release the 0308 in FULL-TITANIUM (Both Scales!). I love everything about the 0308, but I'm not a fan of the 1/2 & 1/2 Titanium & G10/Micarta - especially the Coyote Tan G10. It would look so great with dual titanium scales with that chevron milling on both sides. I bought the 0562Ti Hinderer Slicer with dual titanium scales and that is one of my favorite knives. The CPM 20CV would still be great on the 0308 full titanium, but CPM MagnaCut would be even better! I hope people from ZT read this! Thank you - A loyal customer.

    Nice. A blade that actually comes with a handle, unlike the benchmade 375, which comes with no handle

    I like it! The sheath looks great and very versatile.

    Please also offer a non coated version (in cruwear of course). So many companies do this by releasing a model, and only offering it with black coatings.

      it's actually a shade of brown... also I wouldn't hold your breath. It is a lot less usual to release non-coated blade with a corrosion-sensitive steel on a blade that's marketed for outdoor use.
      stonewashed blade with g10 would be cool af tho. kinda funny how everyone is pairing cruwear with brown canvas micarta. spyderco is releasing the native chief in cru-wear w/ brown micarta scales. it's longer than this by like .25 and has a back lock.

      @@SinisterPrince Eh. I wouldn't say that. It's Cruwear it's not bad, it takes a nice patina. Many companies release their models both with and without coating. And Cruwear and V4E/4V is definitely the right steels to do it in. A stonewashed blade would be really nice. I have hopes that it can happen, but will probably take some time. The Spyderco Crucarta models are so good.

      Another aspect to consider is that the extra corrosion protection from the coating is nice to have with the leather sheath (because steels that are susceptible to rust will rust even faster in a leather sheath due to the moisture it can hold). I'm saying this as a huge fan of classic leather sheaths. For me, I'm glad they put the coating on the 0004, and the brown color of the coating looks sweet with the tan micarta and brown leather. All just my opinions/perspective - I understand some people really dislike coatings on their blades (especially coatings that have texture).

      I guess it also depends where you live and use the knife; I live in a very humid environment, and other knives I own with CPM Cru-Wear (BM Adamas folders) THAT ARE COATED have gotten rust on the exposed sharpened edge as well as the etched logo areas. I still love Cru-Wear, but I appreciate the extra protection of a coating on the blade.

    After using this knife for only a month, I can can tell you this. If you are buying this as a bushcraft knife, you will be dissappointed because its not one at all. It can do bush craft stuff in a pinch but its not great at all. But what this is, is a good field knife for cutting cordage, taking down boxes (its fairly slicy), and general tasks. The sheath is great but I found it too bulky for a knife that dosnt need such a big "house". I had a custom kydex made and its been great. The sheath should've been on the ZT6 and the flimsy kydex on this one... that would;ve worked out actually. I currenty use it as a bench knife and it works pretty good as one too. Basically I reach for it when my smaller pukko wont do it.

    Ive been using this knife since it came out. Its a great outdoor field knife but wouldn't call it a dedicated bushcraft knife since to me atleast, the scales are on the thinner side. But its a great general camp utility knife and very comfortable to use. Its pretty slicy of a blade but still very stout feeling. The sheath is really well made, though more on the bulkier side. Price is a tad high but when you compare it with other knives in teh same range... given how well the knife is made, superb fit and finish, overbuilt sheath... price is what it is.

    I don’t understand the point of a finger choil on a fixed blade that has a full sized handle.

    • @HelsinkiPink
      @HelsinkiPink Месяц назад

      I agree, choils are so overrated and useless if you know how to use a knife, esp a knife this size.... But I do have this knife and in person the choil isnt as pronounce and you wont notice it as much as say... an Esee or something.

      I think @HelsinkiPink has a point here that the forward choil isn't as necessary on a knife this size (compared to a larger fixed blade), but I really do like having that option for more control with detailed work. My fixed blades that don't have the forward choil sometimes feel a bit clumsy for refined, controlled tasks. Just my opinion.
