    6:41 In 2015, a Texas man and his dog died in their Corvette because the battery died and the electric door locking mechanism wasn't functional. He couldn't find the manual override in time (as it was hidden somewhere on the floor).
    Unlike Chevy, whose engineering is highly questionable, Lexus took the time to implement a mechanism that works in both electric and manual modes, with the latter tied to the traditional way of opening a door lever (pull to open). It's such a simple and elegant way to incorporate both designs, it boggles the mind to think that Chevy could not have come up with something similar, or that their bean counters would try to save cost by going full electric switch only.

  • @normt430
    @normt430 2 года назад +2

    In our testing, we beat the Lexus-estimated acceleration to 60 mph by a full half-second, hitting 60 in 5.5 seconds versus the quoted 6.0-second time. That's quicker than the other 2022 NX models we've tested, but a 2021 XC60 Recharge reaches 60 in a MotorTrend-tested 5.0 seconds. We haven't yet tested a Q5 plug-in, but Audi estimates its model to be just as quick as the Volvo. In case you wonder, the lighter-weight RAV4 Prime matches the NX450h+'s 5.5-second time to 60.
    This means the NX plug-in hybrid is both the quickest NX money can buy and the slowest SUV in its tiny segment.

  • @rightlanehog3151
    @rightlanehog3151 2 года назад +10

    Ryan, Many cautious and risk-averse Lexus customers would probably have preferred that smooth 300 hp V6 rather than a turbo engine. That being said, I think the NX 350h is the sweet spot. It shows an upgrade to the Highlander's 240hp Hybrid costs nothing in terms of mpg and only adds performance as well as capability to a RAV4-sized CUV.

    • @naveenthemachine

    So let me get this straight...
    The steering wheel buttons aren't marked, so you have to stare at a heads-up display to figure out which button does what.
    Despite over 300 ft. lbs. of torque, it is MUCH slower than a Ford Escape and still requires premium fuel to acheive a middling 0-60 time.
    There is no home screen on the huge 14 inch screen, just a giant nav screen.
    Climate controls disappear if you full-screen the map, and when you do get them back, some of the functions require digging through a menu to operate.
    The effing door latches are electronic, and will lock you in the vehicle if some sensor determines that you shouldn't open the door. The cargo space behind the rear seats is nearly half what it is in a Rav4.
    Did I miss anything?

      This 2.4T is the replacement to the 2GR-FKS 3.5L V6. I like the V6 better, to be honest, because of its sound, throttle response and because it has been proven to be reliable. However, having 317 lb-ft of torque should help to improve 0 - 60 times when that engine makes it to the RX and the IS.
