I agree! A person with strong beliefs and opinions doesn’t even come close to the Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby types that have been predators for decades.

I still remember when some of these whites invited a brown man to a barbecue and ended up chaining him to the back of their truck and dragging him down the highway until he was nothing but bones. You can continue to love his acting, and your belief, of a "genuinely beautiful man" and realize you did not know of his other side. This is not the first time this YT page has made unverified claims that well-known people were racists, bigots, communists and worse without any facts to back it up. Anyone making such inflammatory statements about those unable to defend themselves should include verifiable evidence of the claims being made. Would you make these statements if those people were still alive and capable of filing defamation lawsuits?

Of course he didn't show it in his acting. He blatantly showed it off screen. He celebrated MLK and JFK's assassination. That's just evil and despicable. My whole perception changed towards him for the worst, same for that racist Jimmy Stewart.
Which thoughts of his came true, the Soviet take over, John Wayne’s communism,? Sounds like his failed businesses and business ventures left him angry and bitter. Like some other Republican failed businessman turned reality TV Star..

I loved Walter Brennan as an actor. I always watched the Real McCoys. Saying he was nothing like the characters he played can be said about most actors I think. Not excusing him, but there was a lot more prejudice back in those days, as well as paranoia about Russia and communism. He was flawed, yes, but to say he was the most evil man in Hollywood is just hyperbole.
And I'm sure Walt Disney and John Wayne in their prime had a lot of bad things to say about people off screen as well. This is why I think channels like Facts Verse hold little to no credibility because they just project a lot of things without any real evidence. Hollywood was and still is a master of illusion. It's all fake. We love when the actors make a good performance. What we see on camera is not necessarily the person off camera. Plenty of actors from Walter Brennan's heyday were quite different off camera. I already downvoted this video, not that anybody cares but this video was hyperbole from start to finish.
Thank God Walter Brennan remains popular despite all the hearsay contained in this sketch. He was a great artist and deserves to be remambered, regardless of his personal beliefs, including anticommunism and anti-civil rights.
@@adrianovasconcelos2739 There is no doubt that Brennan was a fine, talented, skillful actor. But at the same time, he was an unrepentant, paranoid, closed-minded, selfish racist. Walter was a man of his times. The modern folks can say what they want, but he was a successful and thoughtful man. He had beliefs and convictions and he stood by them. Many folks wave in the wind flapping to and fro with no foundation. I really enjoyed his work and think fondly of him. Many will scorn this next statement,; God will be his judge as with all of us. This one sided diatribe strikes me as character assassination. Facts verse , it would seem, most likely, only used bad press instead of stating solid facts. This piece seems very one sided and woke.

We have the right of choice of beliefs, opinions and sound mind no matter how adverse or discriminate. However I respect this great actor because he wasn't fake or phony. Freedoms of speech, choices and beliefs no matter how diverse, adverse or discriminate! Still a fabulous actor! RIP Mr. Brennan,!
The man can't defend his opinions as he isn't here but i suppose he would upset hollywood due to his republican and far right views. First of all he was a very good actor and beloved by millions that's his legacy !

Brennan certainly held some outlandish political views. But I say he was dead on about the Supreme Court removing prayer from the schools. This country has gone down the tubes since prayer was forbidden. I did enjoy his appearances on the silver screen and the man was supremely talented.
And I'd like to add this. In the summer of 1968 my parents and I were in Miami fort Lauderdale Florida for vacation. George Wallace was going to be there one night at the Miami convention center for a big rally and we went!!!! I was 12 years old that summer and it was a hot night and I can remember cops on top of the roof with rifles no kidding. Inside the very hot but large convention center with secret service everywhere and I remember them handing out large Coca-Cola's with ice in clear cups so now I would get to dehydrated from the heat remember that place was not air conditioned. What a night it was the place was packed and we only went because we were curious about it and there are a ton of people there who weren't curious and probably really supported him. I'm no fan of George Wallace but it was a night to remember I can tell you that....
He was just telling it like he saw it. Everything he said is his opinion and is protected by the 1st Amendment.
But he freaked when OTHER people used THEIR 1st Amendment rights, I bet!!

No I don't feel that he was evil but I don't like his reaction to the deaths of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. I like how he felt about prayer taken out of schools, this never should have happened. He had his ways and opinions like all of us do.
As I posted earlier - You like prayer in public school IF they are praying to the god you believe in. If it's someone else's god the public schools is trying to make your children pray to then I doubt you find it that likable. How would you feel if the school forced your children to worship Satan?
Haven't seen any proof of his "reaction."
@@bjbell52 When prayer in school started everyone was praying to the one and only Almighty God. I am almost 70 yrs. old, I loved praying to my Lord every morning at school. The woman that ended prayer in school was very evil, she was agnostic. If the schools were praying to satan then she would never have had prayer taken out of school. If kids today were forced to pray to satan, as a grandmother of 6 school children, I along with my 2 adult kids would jump in full force to put a stop to it. If it was to continue, I would home school my grandchildren. Back in the day I remember many of my classmates being very upset because of what that woman caused. I lived through all of that I know what it was like to be made to feel that praying at school was bad.

Furthermore, being an agnostic does NOT make a person evil. It HILLARIOUS that you think an agnostic believes there's a Satan but doubts there is a god. LOL - you are twisted!
And you have no problem shoving your religion down other peoples' throats like when I was in 1st grade and they forced a Jewish girl to worship Jesus?
Praying in public school made you feel bad? That's on you and your twisted upbringing. It's against the LAW. You see, in the U.S. we have religious freedom, something you OBVIOUSLY hate.

I always liked Walter Brennan growing up, I remember him in the real McCoys, I never thought of him as being evil but you never know about people until you’ve been around them I guess. I remember he was in TV show tycoon in a suit and tie, and it was so strange to see him in a suit and tie a knot with a cowboy hat and blue jeans. Perhaps that was his real personality in a tie in a suit.
"Luke! Luke! Go fetch Pepino and meet me in tha barn!"
I think evil is a poor judgment call.
The John Birch Society never held those racial beliefs. But they - and he - were apparently right about Communists. Because “here they are!”
I'm surprised that you never mentioned Brennan's role on the TV series Lassie, or the hit song "That Mule, Old Rivers and Me". He certainly had a distinctive voice, but none of us knew his personal life or cared in those days.
George Rose To my knowledge, Walter Brennan never appeared in the "Lassie" TV show. The man who played Gramps was George Cleveland. He died suddenly during the 1957 filming and his character was written out of the script, coincidentally at the same time Tommy Rettig wanted out of the series.
That song you're referring to is called "Old Rivers". It was recorded by Walter Brennan on the Liberty label in 1962.
Hope this helps.
Brennan was even more anti-Semitic than Ward Bond and Victor McLaglen.
Now I agree with him on keeping prayer in school and courts
I posted this earlier, I'll re-post it for you.....
Would you still be for prayer at public schools if your children were forced to pray to Satan?
When I was in 1st grade we celebrated Christmas by singing song, exchanging gifts, and taking part in Christmas pageants. The little girl next to me cried and cried the entire time. I couldn't understand why she was crying about worshiping Jesus but then again, at that time I didn't know what a Jew was !!!!
No, prayer should not be in PUBLIC schools.
Okay, let's have Muslim prayer in schools.
I still do not know he was the most evil man, as you did not provide evidence to support your theory.
The greatest part about America is that you have a right to your opinion and beliefs. I don't think he was evil just honest. Look at the world now

Well old Walter didn't hide, his feelings. I always liked him as an actor.
I don't think his beliefs made him evil. He was born and raised in a different time and evidently was unafraid to state his opinion. As long as he didn't take and illegal action in support of his belief then I don't see him as evil. He is one of my favorite character actors.
My opinion of Brennan just went up a notch! I've always appreciated his acting abilities but now respect him for his patriotism. His concerns about social agitation by those intent on destroying civil order were well founded. I'm glad he is not here today to see the chaos this country is in. RIP Walter Brennan.
A "patriot" can be a racist?? ARE YOU PROUD of being a racist, too? It's people like you who think they are superior (I'm sure you are white) and "Oh, me? I'm not a racist!" LOL-- bet you think you're religious, too. You follow God's decree to "love one another- do not judge- let he who is without sin cast the first stone...etc." Blaming other races is against God's love of all mankind he has created. Patriotism? America was founded on welcoming ALL who are oppressed, all who were persecuted in their birth land- America welcomes and gives freedom to all the world's people. (Native Americans are the only original Americans-all the rest of us came from somewhere else on Earth). As for loving Brennan's TALENT, great! But remember, people are not just one sided--you can love him and his talent and his acting and at the same time not be aware of his other sides, like his well documented racism and beliefs. The FACT is Brennan was NOT ashamed of his racist beliefs as he was PROUDLY RANTING THEM PUBLICLY to anyone who would listen-you can look up his speeches, interviews, etc. on Google. @@freeedward8 I don't believe everything I'm told about others. The term racist has lost all its meaning today. The left uses this as a smear tactic against those they disagree with.
