It’s great people like you that allow me to have an education in the audio industry without the massive amount of debt. I’ve learned so much from RUclips and your videos are some of the best and detailed I’ve seen. Thank you for being awesome!
One of the best ways to teach, is putting some kinda humor, on what you're teaching. You are a Truly gifted Teacher. THANK YOU! Greetings from Argentina.
Joe - bless you. There are days when I get so overwhelmed and wrestle my mix - then I find your tutorial- and I feel like I’m getting a master class. Thank you. You’re a lifesaver- a genius. And I am still such a beginner but you give me hope. Thank you. Eo robby
One of the first videos I've been able to fully follow and comprehend on studio one so far. This not only gave me new inspiration and guidance to correction, but it broke down simple explanations of technical jargon so that step by step I could draw out a real road map and get started with little to no questions asked. Fantastic teaching, thank you very much!!!
I love how you're literally able to sing exactly what you need to cut! As a vocalist, it allows me to really connect to my DAW from that angle and work with that knowledge better. I'm able to hear what I need to hear a lot better because you sing it to us in an isolated manner too 💕
Great video Joe, I can tell you got joy today. As always you take the complex and break it down so we can reach it. Many thanks!! Great information and GIRATS deserves to be on a t shirt.
Thank you! I've spent the last two years tryna figure out mixing and this was like a hammer to the head. A good recording is what I must start with instead of thinking it's the plugins or DAW.
I just wanna say I bought studio one artist cause I thought it looked cool and sounded interesting and found your channel after looking for tutorial and I’m glad I found your channel you have helped me learn to mix and navigate studio one ☝️🔥🔥
I followed your lead eith the plate reverb on my last couple of creations. I absolutely love it!! Thank you again!! I think ill go back and remix some of my past creations with it.
That was a great explanation! I have been mixing for 3 years. The vocals are my problem child. My mixes now are so much better than when I started. Your video is just another excellent piece of advice to make my mixes better. Thanks so much!
Excellent content. I really love how you take us step by step and show the results after each step, helps train the ear. I like the simplicity of the approach too. The results are really good considering how few plugins you used. I'd love a video about parallel compressions. Do you prefer to use a mix knob or a send? When WOULDN'T you use parallel compression on a vocal? Thanks!
thanks for this, for some reason now i understand what is being done during eqing and with immediate practice i can see how it has changed my mixing DRASTICALLY, the way you boost those frequencies while trying to find the unwanted ones before cutting them out makes it so clear on what to cut out...im sooooo happy about this... thank you
Can't get through the rest of the video without being distracted by the thought of wether Joe has pants or not, very helpful nonetheless, keep it up man
Pants or no pants, this is extremely helpful. Working with a Tascam Model 24 and outboard gear, it´s GIRATS all the way for me. This gives me something to work with as far as EQ and compression settings for vocals with my ensemble. Thanks a bunch!
The mic I've been using for the past year & a half is the Audio-Technica AT2020. It was $99 on Amazon. Right now it's regularly $119, on sale for $109. I would recommend this mic to EVERYONE! It's well worth the money, and sounds crystal clear!!!
I tend these days to grab a dynamic EQ to tame the "bad' build-ups frequencies that occurs on only a few spots of the track.Feels more natural as static substractive curves sometimes tend to act too much where I don't want to. Static Eqs moves on high-pass filter , and boosting air are OK of course. Nice video anyway !
Your videos are invaluable. I've never been happy with my own vocal in a mix, probably because for most of the time I can't sing. But on those rare occasions when I thought my vocals were no' bad, they just didn't sit in the mix. Too much footering and fiddling with this effect and that effect and in the end you totally lose what the vocal is all about. I've just finished a song using your advice and it's probably the first vocal I've really been happy with. Thank you.
Señor Gilder. Could you make a vocal compression tutorial for a few different genres ( balad, rock, rap, pop for example) ? Vocal compression has always been a very interesting topic. Saludos y bendiciones a usted y su familia.
This is my vocal chain for tracking, really good for signing, when it comes to rap i just change the comp settings around, but this is such a good chain to use when tracking.
great tutorial, but I am really thinking, just like I used to be where I had to use my Vox ac30 or my marshall because the helix floor just wasn't a real amp, and I thought in my head people would hear it, a lot of the things done here, most people wouldn't be able to notice.
I've been having issues with my air causing sibilance, so I'm going to try moving my high shelf up. Do you use a pop filter? Your "upon" plosive was super loud. If you are using a pop filter you might need to sing to the side of the mic.
Worth watching Joe, learnt a lot in them, gems 💎 thumps up and keep them coming 😇.Thanks for your five steps to mixing though, I can't just wait to go watch them 🙏
I was mixing vocals this week. After a lot of trial and error, I decided to start all over again and use slight adjustments which open up the vocals, a touch of analog delay to get it sounding brighter the rest of the vocal sounded warm but had to take out some of the mud and tops so it doesn't sound tinny. The vocals are now sitting in the mix better. All using studio One stock plug-ins although I have Waves plug-ins, which I haven't used yet. Good video but you are right to try and get a good signal coming in first so you don't have to waste time fixing things.
I went overboard on studio (bedroom) treatments and found "the process" much easier to hear. It makes sense that the only boost for vocals could be applied to the make up gain inside the compressor.
It’s great people like you that allow me to have an education in the audio industry without the massive amount of debt. I’ve learned so much from RUclips and your videos are some of the best and detailed I’ve seen. Thank you for being awesome!
Same.
The best part is when you tell your recorded self to "shut up" lol. I have done that SO many times in my production journey.
You describe the frequencies so well making sounds with your mouth
Been watching your tutorials for a few hours, and I'm already starting to hear a difference in my mixes. You're very easy to follow.
Joe how do you equalize for vocals an amp that has 6 tuning knobs. Hi low medium frequencies? Henriksen amp. thank you in advance for the answer.
he's definitely wearing no pants, guys
Is it important?
@@EffzettHHi guess
Hope so
Oh yeah😂
@@EffzettHHvery much
Super awesome way to mix vocals demonstrated, short and with humor, God Bless You, Thanks Joe!!!

"Fearfully and wonderfully made" What a great song!!!
you're really good at this and your songs and performing are lovely too. you deserve more recognition
your vocal is amazing Joe
Parallel compression at its finest! SUBBED
Love the vibe of the song. I’ve heard snippets of it in a few of your videos and always enjoy it, and go away humming the melody.
great stuff

05:25 EQ
12:35 Using compressor
Great video Joe, I can tell you got joy today. As always you take the complex and break it down so we can reach it. Many thanks!! Great information and GIRATS deserves to be on a t shirt.
I know what you mean I was doing harmonies I used Waves Tuner on it just so that the Harmonies don't have the same tonal impact. worked a charm.
Thank you! I've spent the last two years tryna figure out mixing and this was like a hammer to the head. A good recording is what I must start with instead of thinking it's the plugins or DAW.
That was a perfect way to mix vocals demonstrated, short and with humour, thanks, Joe!✊🏻

What a beautiful voice you have. Just the raw audio was so pleasant to listen to

Well said Joe.. 👊🏼

Thanks Joe, good one! I see them all, and what a nice voice you have.
Maybe the best mixing vocal tutorial ever for all daw and producers thank you.

I would love to hear that whole song. It made my spirit feel good! God bless.
Hey Joe, it's years ago... but still, thank you. love your content! 🙌

Does it beat the SE Electronics Gemini mk2
Hey joe, always appreciate the advice. Great stuff, and this will help me out so much. Great job 🎉
Found it really helpful Joe - thanks so much.

Exactly. I would have used a DEQ for that super narrow cut he did on the 2.5khz frequency of the “don’t beliEve…” he called annoying.
Man. I appreciate your videos so much. I mixed my Deathcore vocals this way. And this helped a ton. Thank you.
The way you explain things is very easy to understand. For example, demonstrating frequency build up with your voice. 👏👏👏
Great vid, Joe!
great teaching but YOU ARE SOOO MUCH MOORE... 🎶 stuck in my head 😆 🍻

Well, i came here to learn a little bit about mixing vocals, and i did, but i also fell in love with this song!! Can i hear it somewhere?
Señor Gilder. Could you make a vocal compression tutorial for a few different genres ( balad, rock, rap, pop for example) ? Vocal compression has always been a very interesting topic. Saludos y bendiciones a usted y su familia.
Thanks a lot! I'm gonna try it in my mixes :)
Gorgeous singing - that's the first thing that struck me. You snuck in a comment that it is you singing: nice work!
man, i love you, best teacher ever, frm Brazil
This is my vocal chain for tracking, really good for signing, when it comes to rap i just change the comp settings around, but this is such a good chain to use when tracking.
Lovely voice and song
Great video, Subbed 💪🏾🎹👑
Thank you so much Joe.
I agree with vocals the less process the better, than overthinking makes it sounds choke so much lol.
Sounding good on the track! Thanks for sharing your mixing
Great tips, great voice! Thanks..
great tutorial, but I am really thinking, just like I used to be where I had to use my Vox ac30 or my marshall because the helix floor just wasn't a real amp, and I thought in my head people would hear it, a lot of the things done here, most people wouldn't be able to notice.
Thank you for this superb tutorial. Really well done. And I like your voice too!
This is so good! I tried some of the tips on my recording (especially cutting some of the low frequencies) and it was so much better!
Your my favourite Dude by far to take lessons from ,so thanks ,hey maybe you could use one of my songs as a lesson someday ;)
Brilliantly explained 👌
Love the simplicity.
Good tips.
I love it Joe simple and it works.
i feel like i seat right in front of this positive guy, thank you buddy this is huge
Thanks for a great video. Made me think wish is a good thing coz I working on a new mix to an old album right now. Be safe and skilful. Pinge

It's crazy how good a singer you are apart from being a pro editor
🤩🤩🤩Thanks Joe
After watching multiple videos on eq you made it sound more simple to understand
Sounds complimentary but looks simple...Great tutorial
Worth watching Joe, learnt a lot in them, gems 💎 thumps up and keep them coming 😇.Thanks for your five steps to mixing though, I can't just wait to go watch them 🙏
Great and simplistic sharing. Thanks a lot.
Nice workflow simple and straight to point.
1:40 in and the vocal already sounds 10 times better than mine 🤣 May have to revisit recording.
Awesome Joe, Excellent videos 👌🏼🙏🏼
Joe brings joy....

Good teaching Joe keeping it straight forward thank you
very helpful video! learned a big deal in a very short amount of time. very concise and simple too.
Hey Joe how do you feel about using the clip gain function in tandem with compression to keep from over compressing.
Sir. You are awesome. This is my Best lectures I've watched for mixing . Everything you deed here is simply professional. Thank you Sir.
tq so much...u help me a lot..im struggle with this...😢👍👍👍
So great I finally understand great way to explain
Excellent tips
Joe totally love the delivery and the high quality complete step advice!
Your courses online are a little steep for some us just starting out Cheers
Joe, I have to say thank you so very much for any of your tutorial videos. I learn a lot from all your videos. Thank you so much, man
Thanks Joe!
great stuff. Thank you for the tips
Love this video!
man you are such a big help for all of us thank you so much i will share it with my uncle which is also into mixing stuff :)
Thanks, very good tutorial. Also liked the song with those nice esoteric lyrics. :)
I went overboard on studio (bedroom) treatments and found "the process" much easier to hear. It makes sense that the only boost for vocals could be applied to the make up gain inside the compressor.
Awesome video & super helpful thanks Joe!
Lovely song, Joe.
Ive heard you sing on these videos and you have a great voice, sing very well and are quite creative in the lyrics and melodies. Great stuff
Beautiful Song. And great mixing tips. Thanks, Joe
