I feel that, the Uchi and the Zwei are my 2 favorite standard weapons. My first Dark Souls 1 playthru was a lightning Zweihander. Ever since then it's been my default strength weapon!
Surprise, surprise, another weapon I've never tried before, haha. On my first playthrough I took one look at the DEX requirement and immediately went "nope!". You also get it so late in the game and you've likely decided on your build by that point. I definitely should try it out soon.
I know you've been on the receiving end of this weapon plenty of times, lol! Even if you run a katana build, most people don't have 48 points to invest in dex by the end of NG. there are some great things you can do with waterfowl, especially since it puts you in the air for a bit!
@@the_jersey_side Yeah, I didn't know the softcaps while I was playing blind. I even forgot to upgrade my Vigor until after Morgott and for the longest time, I only have 18 VIG. I didn't have enough HP or damage but somehow stumbled my way to the end, lol.
Doesn't have to be. Just Defeat, Godrick, go to the village of the Albanurics, defeat Rennala, b line it to Margot, head to the Mt Top, do Castle Sol, off to the Haligtree, kill Melania and there you go... you still have most of the games world before you. Ez pz... lol
I wanted to ask if there's a strong reason to two hand dex katanas (dex weapons in geenral) besides maybe moveset. Since damage benefit from strength is minimal. But two handed attacks do have better motion values? And two handed katana attacks are quite good moveset wise? If going pure dex and no arcane, is there enough of a reason to two hand a katana instead of dual-wielding? Is there not much of a damage loss? It's so hard to know about these things i feel.
personally, I'm unsure of the motion values, but I can say I prefer the movest of 2 handed attacks over 1 handed. Dual wielding can be nice, but your attacks are slower, and status buildup is nerfed while dual wielding to 60% of stated value (that was put in a post launch patch). For my builds, since I limit the level to RL150, it also limits what I can use. I can spare points for Int or Faith, and using another weapon would put me in another weight class. It also allowed me to run 12 strength and still use this weapon effectively!
@@the_jersey_sideyeah those are good points. And the slowness of dual wielding can limit its effectiveness. Might try such a two handed build since it's more my speed than dual wielding, at least in elden ring. Just always wondered if it was being inefficient.
@@albegade It often depends more on moveset and speed as opposed to damage; especially on DEX weapons. However, you can also infuse a katana with Heavy affinity to get that two-handed bonus.
This weapon is great i use cracked tear stanima tear shard of Alexander ritual sword talisman rotten sword igsigna winged sword igsigna flame Grant me strength golden vow howl of shirbiri and jelly fish sheild
I imagine you could take out bosses in a single Waterfowl with that setup! heck you could probably finish off NG+7 Rennala before the Ash of War even finishes lol
The most broken weapon in that game is the Blasphemous blade, imo. The ash of war is just ridiculous, it does tons of damage and stun and the life steal is stupid.
@KurwaRomek Unless you're running something like a keen Uchi or Bolt of Gransax, this is totally an NG+ weapon. I didn't beat her until post game when I first played myself. I've actually never used the Blasphemous Blade in a build yet, but I may take you up on that recommendation! I've been using a lot of powerful weapons I haven't touched yet, and that sounds like a great (and powerful) option
@@the_jersey_sideblasphemous blade is almost comically powerful. A full fire damage full faith build will just smash through everything with taker's flames. And it self heals. There are many powerful weapon arts that can be the only thing you use and taker's flames are by far the best for it. Plus you get to use fun incantations. I got a little bored with my blasphemous blade character and maybe it has an issue with mohg, but even then I think a big chunk is nonelemental damage? Everything else it destroys. Maybe malenia dodges? But with enough effort can hit her and it will decimate. I guess the big things about taker's flames is that the damage is huge, knocks down enemies, is fast and spammable, big AOE, heals (also helps with doing it in risky ways), and the cost is not much.
Hey i hope you see this but im having trouble activating the full combo, not sure if its a soft cap thing or the more likely option of i just dont know how it works fully
Used the classic uchi whole game up until I got this. Finished the game and NG+ with it
I always try katanas, and I always go back to the zweihander.

I’m on NG+ 6 and I use the shit out of it

I was doing quality build and digging g Godfrey's Axe. I'd get surrounded and then just do a sumo stomp, and watch everyone go flying.
I have never used it because I still haven't beaten Malenia :(

Excellent vid! I’ll be sure to try it!
good to hear, thanks!!!
Great Club next
that would be an interesting one and will be a video someday for sure! Having holy damage and being buffable seems pretty unique
So I took your suggestion and the Great Club is significantly more fun that I thought. Golden Land is really fun! video next Friday!
@@the_jersey_side I'll wait for the video!
Believe it or not but I never tried it. You get it so late in the game and the dex requirement is so high I never built a character around that.

I have never used it because F Malenia and bleed is lame...

What armor is that?
This build had the Aristocrat Headband, Malenia's chest piece, Leyndell Knight gauntlets, and Traveler's boots
Yeah, it's nice on paper, but it's also basically a NG+ only weapon, so it still sucks.

@averagejoe2307 Make sure you have enough stamina, and that you're pressing the Ash of War button again at the end of each part of the combo!
