It's must be because the sky is thinner at the poles but the clouds scoot by so fast, it's like they don't look much higher than 2 or 3 times the height of that tree.
@ The clouds are at different levels and as I’m showing a wide view to capture north through to south west, there is mild distortion which may be giving a feeling some clouds are lower. The prevailing winds are from the west and that brings a lot of moist air scooped up from the Atlantic Ocean. The Jet Stream has bean affecting our weather by bringing bad weather that has affected the USA. Because the earth has just gone through it furthest point of its tilt, sky can be clear at night with high clouds moving very fast with the Jet Stream, often made of minute crystals of ice. These clouds look thin and streaky, often allowing stars and planets to be seen through them. When thunderstorms are forming especially at dawn and dusk, the low position of the sun make the powerful clouds look low at the base, 1000 to 2000 feet but when the low sun captures the developing cumulus clouds these can top out very. This is why I love time lapse. What can’t be appreciated with the naked eye is a continuous boiling upwards of captured moisture from the earth and the it boing dumped back down when the atmosphere can no longer contain the shear volume of moisture being suspended as clouds. Looking at my time lapse videos to the far right is north and I live only a couple of miles from the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. This can affect local weather like becoming colder and fog formation, sometimes freezing fog. I have a number of winter videos showing the fog closing in then retreating. The 5 second capture has halved the speed of the clouds but we have a severe weather warn for strong wind at present so the clouds that appear low are moving fast, these are dropping rain and sleet, at times snow. Hope to see some of your footage if you’re uploading too RUclips. 👍
This has been filmed in 4k at 5 second capture.
